Be it the store experience, ambiance of it,merchandise selection, its value, sales staff, it just seems to be well below the 'norm' or what a person would expect in a high-end retail establishment. I've been shopping at Neiman's for years. But lately I've been shopping other places. The Houston Neiman's has to be the worst, almost every single employee is on their cell phones. A few look up be rarely is there a greeting they just keep texting. Surprising management allows that. Wonder how much that pays. Generally I view this place as where I go when I need something very high quality and am willing to drop a considerable amount of money for it. I expect impeccable service for these prices. My most recent trip here was no exception. I was here for cosmetics. I stood at the counter looking at mascaras in particular. I was acting interested and a lady at the counter noticed me right away. I thought she was going to ask me if she could help me, but instead she looked at me and said, "you're just looking, right?" I looked at her, thought for a minute, and said "absolutely" and walked out. How incredibly rude and offensive. I was planning on purchasing any product that she could sell me on, but after that question, my plans quickly changed. I will not be back anytime soon. read more

I heart Neiman Marcus although the customer service is always a hit and miss here. Just depends on who you get. I used to have a personal shopper here but I don't think he works here anymore. This Neimans has the best shoe selection I have ever seen! I've only been to the one in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach. I was so amazed how they have so many shoes and the sales people where no where to be seen or breathing down your neck. Nothing is more annoying having those sales associates watching your facial expression as you look at each shoe to see if they need to pressure you into buying it. I use to avoid this store since they didn't accept Mastercard or Visa. But since I found a couple of shirts I liked and I was ready to whip out cash for the purchase. The sales associate, Samira, informed me that Visa & Mastercard have been accepted since Nov. 1, 2011. WOW, too bad I wasn't informed of that info in the few times I have been in since Nov. 2011. Their loss was Nordstrom or Sak's gain in purchases from me. Neiman Marcus does sell good merchandise just above their competitors, but their credit card policy acceptance had always been a turn off. A visit to this store is always very positive. The products carried are very nice and the attention by the sales personnel is second to none. The reason for the four star is more about the people who work at Neiman Marcus more than anything else. I really like NM and find the service and selection to be very good. It is easy to work with one sales associate and she will take you all over the store for clothes, shoes and purses. I particularly like that they now accept all credit cards (have done so for about a year now). So I can use my Amex or my debit card. read more

Exquisite treatment at the handbag department! The SA were extremely eager (in a good way) to help pick out a purse for my mother and myself! I was ready to buy my first Louis Vuitton so came to yelp to read the reviews, when spending that much money I wanted a good experience. So going to the actual Louis Vuitton store didn't seem to be the right choice after reading negative review after negative review. As other reviewers stated their experience at NM was much better.... I will definitely agree. The sales person was very friendly and patient with me while I made my decision. He then boxed up my purchase nicely & explained the return/exchange policy to me. All the sales people in that department were very friendly & I would recommend anyone wanting a Louis to go to NM & not hassle with the snobs at the actual store. read more

Man, you talk about being stereotyped. I went in for some work shoes with my husband and I get that we may not look like the average Neiman Marcus customers but it would be nice to keep your comments to yourself, sales associate, Eileen Sheikh. I was trying on Tory Burch flats and she had the audacity state "Are you just shopping for fun or for work?" Uh...excuse me? Does it look like I want to spend a busy Saturday afternoon just trying on shoes for fun? I firmly stated "I am shopping for work." After my selection, I pulled out my AMEX card, to her surprise again, she took everything to the back to process payment, came back out and said "if you spend more money, you get a free gift." At this point, I'm like, just give me my shoes and card so I get the heck out of the store. So before leaving, I sarcastically stated "Shopping was so much fun." Some people go too far to judge. I have shopped at NM for over 20 yrs now. Yesterday, 4-14-12 I went in just to spend my 50.00 gift card. I purchased a 38.00 bottle of Fresh fragrance. Needless to say I had to get the box of cologne myself without any help from the leaching sales associates. Was it because I had on capri jeans and a simple blouse? Other times I've been dressed very sophisticated. So, I hear what everyone else is stating, about the mistreatment. I might add the older lady in Fresh (dark hair lots of make-up on her wrinkled face) looked at me with my 50.00 gift card and said," Can't use that here". I typically go to Michelle, and unfortunately she wasn't there. What is going on at NM....I believe someone in upper management needs to revisit with the sales associates about how to treat the real customers. read more

I bought a pair of sun glasses from this store, about a year later I came in to get the same pair since mine had a little scratch on it. i regularly buy high end fragrances from neiman marcus and am always a little bit annoyed when i leave. on a particularly memorable occasion, i was trying to decide on a fragrance when the salesgirl made a racist joke to me. i couldn't believe my ears, so i asked her to repeat it. i guess she saw the expression on my face, because she then said 'nevermind.' i turned around and went to saks to buy the same fragrance. this and other occasions with me shopping in this specific department have been negative- i seem to never be treated as a serious customer- presumably because i have the wrong color skin or am wearing the wrong thing. really ridiculous because a) this is texas and i expect to be treated with southern hospitality and b) this is a high end luxury store and i expect to be treated like the paying customer that i am. i should state that i do not experience this lack of professionalism in the clothing department or the shoe department. this is fragrance specific. read more

I read horrible reviews about the LV store inside the galleria, so many bad ones that the want for the purse almost went away. Looking further into wether I should buy it online or find another store I really wanted to be able to inspect my bag prior to purchasing. So I decided to come here. Johnathan S. went above and beyond to help me with my purchase. Assured me that my purchase is guaranteed satisfaction. He rolled out the red carpet for me and treated me extremely well. Yes, I know what you're thinking, he's just trying to make the sale. But do your research and find out on your own like I did, what the sales associates actually make on commission....That being said, I'm very ecstatic that Johnathan was very helpful and knowledgable about the product. I did valet parking yesterday and when I received my car, the back bumper was completely wrecked. Then the guy was like "oh yea, I need to talk to you about that. " fortunately, they were honest enough to let me know it was their fault... So when you do valet parking, please remember to inspect your car after you pick it up. If it wasn't for us to put the stroller into the trunk, we would've never checked the back and who knows if they will claim the fault after we leave Neiman ...will update on the claim after we sort it out.
