Came in here with my daughter to buy her first longboard, wanting to support a local business. When we asked to test ride a couple, the staff wouldn't allow it, only offering their 'test board'. If you know anything about skating, one board can be completely different than another, so this is useless. Considering all the nuance (shape, length, flex, weight) that go into a longboard, it is insanity to think that a customer would drop $160+ (their lowest price) on something that they can't test on the sidewalk. In 30+ years of skating and surfing, I have never been to a shop that wouldn't let you test out such a big purchase. Leave this shop to the tourists and posers and spend your money somewhere that actually cares about the culture. read more

We just got home from our IRB trip and shopped at Nekton several times during our stay. Spent hundreds of dollars here as it's such a cute shop with great brands, but it needs major help in the customer service department. The girls working the shop are more interested in gossiping/talking amongst themselves and staring at their phones than being welcoming, helpful, or kind... esp the ones working on 8/11. We likely would have spent much more, but we got the feeling they would have rather us just left than buying anything at all. We witnessed them treating many others this way -- including a surfer who came in looking for an accessory to his board, who was sent away with nothing but a weird attitude. Idk, maybe find new employees. read more

I tried to exchange a t-shirt while on vacation and the manager was rude and accused me of wearing it due to deodorant stains from trying it on. He even said he believed it was not worn but wouldn't accept it. The tag stickers were still on the shirt so it obviously was not worn. He was rude and mismanaged the entire exchange. The co worker was even trying to help me. I'd love to discuss further with the owner. Horrible customer service. Will not return even though we liked the shop. read more

I bought a dress that was on sale. When I got home i noticed the strap was broken. I took it back right away (tags on and everything). They basically were like sorry nothing we can do, no store credit or exchange. Waste of $70. Horrible customer service. Everything is also way over-priced. Your Yeti called it wants a sticker from Nekton. Nekton Surf speaks to my inner beach bum more than any other retail establishment in Florida...seriously. Instead of being a kitschy tourist trap surf store it is actually selling quality gear and branded merchandise! And yes they sell the sickest stickers. So fun to have the ability to spread local love with a groovy sticker. My favorite swimsuit purchases this past year have all come from Nekton. They have a decent variety for men, women, and even children! This is good because I wear a lot of children's clothes...especially shoes. In addition to being a cute boutique you can also rent toys from them! They only charge $30 for a 2 hour paddleboard rental, which is one of the more competitive prices I have seen. IMPORTANT: They let you do week long rentals as well! So you can rent bikes, boards etc... for 7 days for an insanely great rate. Now I am only reporting this information, I haven't actually used any of their rental services. But based on the customer service, the cleanliness of the store, and the overall cool vibes I am pretty confident in recommending them. read more

Purchased a pair of sandals last week and the sandals were super uncomfortable. I contacted the manufacturer first and they said to contact the place I bought it from. I was told they will not take them back. When I said how we supposed to know if they're comfortable or not or if they're going to hurt your feet without wearing them, the manager I spoke to said " that's the risk of life". Mom and pop, local owned shop, not a chain store! Needed a wet suit for the cold water. Decided to get a neoprene shirt rather than a short suit. They have a decent selection, able to try on several sizes to see what worked. Bit higher price than I would have liked. But, I did get something that I'll like and use for years. Sales girl was very helpful. Now only if they also sold some endurance, because I'm not that 20 something guy anymore and the waves kicked my okole. read more

I worked for Rip Curl for 6 years so generally never buy any wetsuits but rip curl but the associate was so helpful I ended up buying my first O'Neill wetsuit ever. It was for my 3.5 year old son. She gave him some stickers and kept him entertained while I shopped. I ended up buying some necklaces too. Really cute stuff here. read more

Cool surf shop right near the beach. Clean friendly and a good selection. They have bikes to rent and nice sunglasses.

The first time we came in here the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had literally just pulled into town from being on the road for 20+ hours and had to kill an hour or so before our room was ready, I also needed some sunglasses. I probably tried on 15 different pairs of sunglasses trying to find a decent pair that did not look ginormous on my small, child-like face. After successfully finding a pair I went to try on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Upon trying on the shorts I no longer wanted to wear the warm-up pants I had been wearing for the car ride so I asked if I could just wear the shorts out of the store. The employee helping me out said no problem and I just handed him the shorts through the door so he could take off the security tags. I walked out of there with sunglasses and a completely new outfit when I really had no intention of buying anything (I really don't wear sunglasses, but it's brighter in Florida). We proceeded to go back to the store a couple days later to find another pair of sunglasses for a friend that met us down there. We had a great experience the first time so we figured she'd get some help finding a good pair, but we were wrong... It's not like it was bad service the 2nd time, but the guy helping me the first time took the time to make recommendations, pull glasses out and hand them over as I looked in the mirrors, etc, where as the girl helping us this time basically just opened the display case and stood there making sure we didn't steal anything, all while having a snotty look on her face. The two girls working that day just seemed like they had no desire to be there, where as the guy and girl working there the first time seemed genuinely helpful. In the end she bought glasses and that was it. I loved the shop and spent more money there than I had intended to, but some of the staff needs to be a little more helpful, or at least pretend like they care, but despite that I would highly recommend this place over any of the other "surf shops" in the area. read more

This is a great store with quality merchandise! While this store is a bit pricey, everything in the store is high quality. The workers are very laid back and very helpful. They sell name brand items including Reef, Sanuk, Oakley, and Costa. I would totally recommend this shop! read more

Cool place, not the average beach stuff. Not a lot of "junk", it's more of the name brand type fair and their branded merch. Prices on Olukai, Hurley etc are on average with other places. Don't pass it up when you drive by, go ahead and stop in. read more

Great local spot in Indian Rocks. Has cool t-shirts with great selection of beach wear. Rented two paddle boards for my daughter and friend when we visited earlier this week. My boyfriend and I stopped by to check out the shop. They had really cool products like the new corkcicle bottles and sun bum haircare stuff. The shop also had really cute swimwear and clothes too. We saw they had rentals and the prices were really good and you can do hourly daily or weekly rentals. The boards looked nice and new too. My boyfriend is a big surfer and he was impressed by their gear. Cool, nice staff with cute shop doggies!! Will be visiting again when in the area. read more
