We called the Stillwater boat club and 1hour and 45 minutes later they arrived with a different pontoon boat. Now, I could name the young man who brought the pontoon boat down for us but I don't want to get too personal. I just want to say that we were told, by the fore mentioned young man, that there would be a discount on the fuel and the rental to make up for our time marooned. Here is what we received: An approximate discount on fuel of $10 and a promised $50 discount on the next $490 pontoon rental (gas included). Moral of the story: If you would like to give up 20% of your time on a pontoon and receive a credit for that loss of enjoyment of 10%, go to the Stillwater Boat Club and Rentals. -John C.

As much as the real Venice would have been an awesome honeymoon, I think this is as close as one can get in Minnesota. Giovanni took us for about a 45 minute ride around the St Croix while we dined on wine and cheese. He sang us a few songs and taught us some Stillwater history. It was neat to find out the gondola was actually shipped from Italy and that Giovanni has been giving rides for the last 17 years. He made sure we kissed under the bridge for good luck and gave us some great recommendations for other things to do in town.
