Sally, the PA, was warm and thorough. She explained my break and the treatment options in a way that made everything feel a little less intimidating. Then Dr. Bruggeman came in with that same mix of professionalism and kindness, and together they quickly determined surgery was needed. Here's the kicker: they scheduled my surgery that same day! I had to juggle a few things at work, but honestly, I was just so grateful to get the process started and my wrist on the mend. This wasn't my first rodeo with Ortho Nebraska (shoutout to my other wrist and a few stubborn shoulders), and once again, they proved why I'll keep coming back...I just really hope I don't have to for a while. My surgeon, Dr. Sayfe Jassim, has this whole process down to an art form, from pre-surgery to using robotics and a minimally invasive procedure to a post-operative medication and physical therapy plan that is well planned and requires me to participate. My goal was to gain clarity on my condition, as I previously felt I was not receiving clear answers--only recommendations for procedures--despite the impact this injury has on my ability to perform my job. The check-in process was efficient and professional. After being called back, I was weighed and taken to an evaluation room. Approximately ten minutes later, a nurse practitioner entered. She was friendly and took the time to ask detailed questions about the incident. She conducted an evaluation and asked whether my original provider had performed an X-ray of my hand or only a visual assessment. When I explained that only a visual evaluation had been done, she expressed concern that imaging had not been completed. She also stated that, based on her review of my chart, I did not have carpal tunnel syndrome but instead may have a rheumatoid autoimmune condition. This was new information to me and had not previously been communicated by my original specialist. I did note that my primary care provider at Methodist Hospital had once mentioned the possibility of an autoimmune issue but had not confirmed a diagnosis. The nurse practitioner indicated she would step out to conduct further research and return with additional information. Approximately fifteen minutes later, Dr. Jeffrey Tiedeman entered the room. He asked questions that I had already addressed and referenced my visit to the emergency room due to loss of feeling in my right hand. At that point, the experience shifted. He examined my hands and stated that an X-ray was needed to confirm a carpal tunnel diagnosis. I asked whether this could be performed during my visit, and he instructed me to follow up with my current provider instead. I explained that my current provider had not recommended or ordered an X-ray. I asked again for assistance, and my request was declined. It became clear to me that my concerns were not being fully addressed, and I did not feel supported in obtaining answers about my condition. Both the doctor and nurse practitioner then left the room without explanation and did not return. I waited approximately fifteen minutes before realizing the visit had concluded without closure, guidance, or next steps. This experience was disappointing, as I sought a second opinion to better understand my condition and receive appropriate direction for treatment. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and follow-through did not meet those expectations.

They told me to show up at the hospital by 2 PM for my 4 PM slot. After some quick schedule juggling (because, life), I was there and ready. Check-in was fast and friendly. The pre-op nurses were fantastic--my husband and I even cracked a few jokes about my "graceful" injury (hey, laughter is the best medicine, right?). Dr. Monte Christo gave me a nerve block, and honestly, the next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery wondering what just happened! Recovery was cozy--two slices of peanut butter toast and a Diet Coke to help me wake up, and before I knew it, I was heading home. Bonus points for the post-op staff handling my pain meds prescription so I didn't have to run around town chasing it down. All in all, what could have been a stressful, scary day turned into a smooth, well-cared-for experience thanks to the amazing Ortho Nebraska team. They made a tough situation a whole lot easier, and while I hope my orthopedic adventures are on pause for a while, I know exactly where I'd go if they're not. All the lab work for a general physical is on-site. Everyone knows what they're doing and do it quite well. It's clean, attractive and comfortable. But it's the people that make it for me. I got old, and things don't work like they used to. Damages of my you persisted. They see I get good care. I don't mean they fawn over me, or kiss up. No coddling. No. I mean they show care properly. I see a bazillion people of all ages rolling through, and everyone gets good care. That's rare and wonderful. I love this doc and his staff.

This is a rather long review and if I could give zero stars I would! My wife was injured on the…read morejob and placed on workers compensation. She had a previous fusion so was very worried that something was wrong with that. MRI revealed it was a bulged disc at the level above the previous fusion and thought light duty and pt would help it. After 5 months with symptoms getting worse, an X-ray revealed an additional problem that required an additional fusion. The problem with this is, due to preexisting degeneration, they are saying it was only made worse and aggravated from additional stress from the injury and pt. Work comp didn't want to pay for the surgery so they forced her to have an independent medical evaluation with Dr Gill. Here's where the zero stars comes in.... When we entered the office, Dr Gill was not overly friendly and was very business like. He had a clipboard with her medical records and sat there writing things down as she explained her symptoms and the injury. He did very minimal tests to question the numbness and burning in her legs. Also, disregarded the fact that she had a vertebrae moving around in her back causing more pain and damage. After about 8 minutes he looked at us and said he had all he needed and someone would get back to us. Her IME was total crap to the point that you know all he was wanting to do is say work comp was not responsible. He stated she was observed to be obese (which she is NOT!) with a BMI of 23.8. Of course, being obese puts more strain on her condition. He also stated that it was only a sprain and she had reached maximum improvement and was cleared to go back to work without restrictions. Keep in mind, she lifts packages up to 70 lbs and has to maneuver packages up to 150 lbs by herself. Dr Gill did not display a caring manner and did not care about the pain my wife was in. Ironically, his diagnosis was completely wrong as it wouldn't be possible for her to return to work. She met with her primary Dr and just 2 weeks later, she had a surgery that took almost 5 hours to fix everything that was wrong. I know that work comp is the main problem here, however, I believe Dr Gill had his mind made up before we even met. Due to his wording in the report stating she was cleared to return to work, not only did she get kicked off workers comp, she is also having trouble qualifying for short term disability. It was quite obvious he works in favor of Work Comp. Had he at least acknowledged her condition, this whole thing could have been a better experience. BEWARE!

Make sure if you don't want to walk 3 extra minutes, park in the structure instead of the east parking lot. The reception area is clean, paperwork was quick, and I only waited less than 10 minutes before I was seen. Overall, a very pleasant experience at this medical facility.
