I asked them to look at my yard, just to blow all the leaves and pine needles into the woods. He said with 4 guys, it would take 3-4 hours (average size yard) to do the job. He would charge 900.00. 900 $$!?? I asked why so much and he said 300 in gas for his truck and the blowers. Absolute B.S. Recent excavations and new driveway installation left considerable amount of damage to parts of the front and back yards, plus alongside a long driveway. The landscaping job involved restoring topsoil, grading, roto-tilling, and clearing cut tree branches. Nelson and crew arrived with earth moving equipment and truckloads of topsoil, compost, etc., that made quick work of the job.The work was done professionally and completed quickly. Long story short: Do not hire Nelson's Hardscape & Tree Service - they are completely unprofessional and unreliable. I contacted Nelson through Yelp. He responded quickly and we spoke briefly over the phone. Instead of coming out to look at the property to provide an estimate, he asked if I could take some pictures and explain what I was looking for in order for him to provide a quote. I took photos of the work we were looking to have done and explained in clear and specific detail what we needed. (Having asian bittersweet vines that grow all along the driveway removed and overgrowth trimmed back, having a small tree in the yard trimmed, and having poison ivy that is growing in the back of the yard along our fence treated/removed.) Nelson quoted me $900, which seemed about right given some of my other quotes/research. He offered to come out the following day (which is today as I am writing this) and I even offered back for him to come out the following week since today was going to be almost 100 degrees. His response was to the effect of "this will only take 3 hours and we will be there at 7am." I agreed to have him and his crew of 4 come out for today and rearranged my day to be here when they arrived. At 7:30am I called Nelson to see where he was. It sounded like I woke him up when he answered. "Were you still planning to be here at 7?" The call disconnected. Two minutes later, he called me back. "We should be there in an hour." "So, 8:30am?" "Yeah" "I thought you said 7am." "That was the plan." Silence. "Ok. Thanks for the update, I guess." 9:15am Nelson's truck pulls up in front or my house (now 2 hours and 15 minutes later than expected.) A gentleman comes out of the truck and introduces himself as Nelson. He is with 1 other person, (not a crew of 4, as he originally explained.) I start to show him what was presented to him in the pictures and he seems like he has absolutely no idea what I am talking about. By the time we reach the poison ivy he then says "oh yeah, we don't deal with poison ivy." At this point, I asked him to leave. I hate to write negative reviews or be discouraging to local businesses, but in this case I would highly recommend that if you have landscaping needs you look elsewhere. UPDATE: The response to my review from the business owner is "sometimes we are late because of traffic." Being late without any kind of update is an annoyance, what is unacceptable is being quoted for work that upon the business owner's arrival, they are not prepared to do. read more

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! UNPROFESSIONAL AND IRRESPONSIBLE!! They were hired by my husband to cut down a tree. He and Nelson had agreed to meet in 45 minutes at the property to start the job. When my husband got here the crew had already gone into the back and were cutting the tree down. Nelson was not there yet. As the workers drove into the yard carelessly, they ran over the entire birm (foundation) on one side of the driveway causing it to crack badly. When told, Nelson RELUCTANTLY agreed to fix. He came back almost dark and I watched him throw a few GLOBS of cement on the cracks! The cement is not the same color as the foundation and it didnt fix the problem anyway! If Nelson did not know how to repair he should not have even done what he did which just made it worse! There have been many trucks in and out of here for the past 30 yrs w/NO damage to the property! This is something I cant fix myself...I need a professional mason here to repair the problem. This company is a disaster waiting to happen and when it does no one will accept responsibility and correctly repair. I am only writing this HERE because he blocked me on FaceBook and told me he was never here and never did a job for us! Trust me...IT WAS HIM! Even the card he gave us matches his logo and web site! I asked for 5 yards of mulch and a yard of loam.Again,my mistake for not asking for receipts however no way even 3 yards. As for the areas I asked Nelson to repair with loam and seed they're loaded with crabgrass and weeds. Update:Owner was very upset by review,however he did come to mow lawn which I asked him about last weekend. He stated he will find out if ok to fertilize all the weeds.
