I have had both lawn and shrub services from True Green and found the lawn service to be excellent. If i ever have a problem, they promptly make a special visit to remedy. The technicians I have had have been professional, pleasant and helpful. The shrub service on the other hand is a bit dicey. They seemingly don't always mange this as well as the awn service. Service is spotty, sometimes less than timely. It is much more expensive than the lawn service per visit and their pesticide and dormant oil treatments do not get rid of scale, so if you have that, forget it, as they can't kill those varmints. I've had them try for multiple seasons to NO effect. The shrub guys are equally professional and pleasant but the product has some shortcomings. read more

Stay away from this company!!! 7/22/26 I had given Trugreen another try but was disappointed again. For some reason they could not get my account to be on a schedule, so when I saw Trugreen go to my neighbor I had to call to get an appointment. I have been a customer for years and this year continued with the flawed service i have become used to with trugreen. I was to be on a schedule for service, but their system never scheduled me. They only way I could get service is by watching my neighbor across the street, because his trugreen account would come automatically. When i saw them there, i would call and be told that they have not booked me yet, but because of my call, they will book me. This happened two times this year. With both times, when they came, they never controlled my weeds and they continued to get worse, so I would call in for another application. On 7/9/26 they came and treated my lawn but the tech burnt my lawn throughout the yard. I called and sent pictures, and an appointment was booked for today 7/20. I received a text informing me that the appointment was booked but no time or time frame was given. I was out of the house at 6:15 am and at 7:15 am, my ring door bell was going off, so I looked at it and the tech was at my door. When does any company go to anyone's house at 7:15 am? But i talked to him and he confirmed that the grass was burnt and that i could rake it, but he would have the branch manger come by. At 8 am I called the customer service team and said I wanted to speak to the branch manager in Andover, MA, but they can not transfer calls. They sent and email to the local branch manager (Mike) who was going to call me by 9:00 am. He confirmed to the agent that he received the email and would be back to me. The agent was great, she called me back at 9:15 to see how the call went with the manager. Unfortunately Mike never called me. She said she could put another request for him to call me if I wanted, or I could cancel my account. I opted to cancel my account. At 9:46 am Mike called me and we spoke. He said he wanted to take a walk through of my property, and I explained that I would not be back home for another 30 minutes and he said no problem, he would be a little longer than 30 minutes. He never showed up. I attempted to call him, 978-447-4502 but he never answered or returned calls. At 5:47pm i received a email from Shereen, saying he called me but he could not reach me and it went to voice mail. Again this is another lie! We all know that if a call comes in, it goes to your call log even if it goes to voice mail. I have two phones and Shreen never called. Ended up with them because they bought the local place I used to use. Killed my lawn a few years back but they reseeded it and it came back. Should have ditched them then...mostly though I seemed to get good techs and I got lazy and didn't drop them. Then last week their tech sprays my flowers, raspberry plants, and herb garden with herbicide. It's not safe (Escalade 2) for food use so going to have to dig up a strip of herbs, put in fresh soil and new plants. Raspberry plants are maybe OK as it was sprayed low so the leaves mostly didn't get hit. Would be a bummer to lose them as they are descended from my grandmother's plants. Given they have zero people running the place that know anything about horticulture (check out the exec bios) I guess I should not be surprised they would make a colossal mistake like this. read more

Booked a treatment schedule for our lawn with a call center employee who advised us that the first service would be half price at roughly $109. After the first treatment, we were billed an additional $219 which ended up being a yearly grub treatment which no one told us about. Called and canceled the service program. There is no way to interact with the local Trugreen branch and they clearly are not up front and honest about their pricing. read more

I used TruGreen mosquito service and would NEVER recommend them to anyone! In all fairness, I did not use this service in Andover. The corporation does not care, I was very dissatisfied with my service. I called to express my concern, the representatives are very nice, but never spoke to a manager. They never returned my daily phones, they just don't care! I did tell them I was going to Yelp them, they still didn't care. So if you do use this corporation, you will never hear from them. I saw the first guy who came to put lime and fertilizer. I talked to him. He was gone in 30 minutes. It takes me more than an hour to mow my lawn. He left a lawn sign and a packet with what was done and steps to follow. I did not see the 2nd fertilizer person although I was home. Of course they send you a text telling you where the guy is. There was nothing left on the door or a lawn sign- and no proof someone came apart from a text on what steps to follow after the application of the weed killer. Which I think should be a lawn sign to alert people not to walk on the lawn . Apart from that it's almost 4 weeks since the said weed application and the weeds are still there and growing. I am actually pulling out most of the week I didn't like that they choose the dates someone is coming to your house than work with you on what dates and times I wish I had read all these reviews before I hired them I have them for another application in the fall. The young woman I talked to told me they do eration in the Fall. Now I have read all these reviews I do not want anything to do with them. I have contracted TruGreen to provide lawn care services for the past three years. To date, my lawn has never looked worse than it does now. There are significant dead spots and an increased amount of weeds. I have a sprinkler system which waters my lawn two-three times per week. I called earlier today and went over some different programs. It seemed to me, as if the person was just reading things off of a card. He never directly answered my questions. I got a call later in the day from the area supervisor. We talked a few minutes, and I told him I was just looking for prices for service. He then sounded like a car salesman. " IF I give you a good price now, will you commit to having us do the work?" When I said I wanted a few quotes first, I was told that I better find another company. I was just called by someone I thought was company I used last year and they tried to talk me into reupping my service, which I never had. Poor guy did ask for a supervisor but I hung up on him cause I said it sounded like a scam.... Supervisor than calls me and throws the caller under the bus as "new" and "just reading a script." What a joke that place is. As someone who has a career in customer service and management especially.. don't toss your employees under the bus when theyre clearly doing what's asked. Explain what's going on and maybe sell me a little bit. I have been a customer since 2007 when they were Scotts Lawn Service then they were purchased by Tru-Green, My lawn had deteriorated since and this year they succeeded in killing my lawn. I pay up front every year for their services including mosquito and shrub treatment, this year they aerated my dead lawn and are trying to charge me for this service that I never asked for. DO NOT USE TRUGREEN. I wish I'd read the reviews before signing up. I tried Truegreen's lawn service, pre-paid for a year's worth of service, and decided not to continue with a second year. The only noticeable effect of their product was that I now have mushrooms and weeds growing where only grass grew before. The bare patches I had hoped to fix are still there. During the period I was being serviced, they called repeatedly and tried to convince me to buy more services. The website also makes it impossible to close an account, as there is no option to do so, and so I hoped by not paying for more services that would be the end of the matter. The moment my service ran out, I began getting robo-calls once or twice a day with an "Important message from Trugreen". This robo-call would leave messages for me, filling my voicemail box. I blocked the number, so my phone no longer rings, but I'm still getting voicemail messages. I tried calling their customer service line to close my account completely. The representative was theoretically helpful and supposedly removed my phone number from my file and put me on a do not call list, but I'm STILL GETTING CALLS. As of now I've received 39 robo-calls since 9/14 and have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

This company is like the McDonald's of lawn care- good for a quick fix, like an occasional Big Mac or lawn mowing but long-term dependence on fast food will find you obese and disgusting just as the weeds you contracted trugreen to get rid of will ultimately dominate. Top that off with rude customer service- the genius I got actually blamed us for not having pointed out the areas of concern to the "technician" when I'd walked with him through the front and back yard pointing out those weeds. Wow. Nice way to treat a customer of 10+ years. I have all of Trugreen's services - Full Lawn Care; Tree & Shrub; Mosquitoes; Core Aeration/Over seeding. My lawn now has active grubs (verified by Trugreen). They refuse to do anything until the Fall. So my lawn looks horrible the whole Spring and Summer? Switched to 1 star simply due to no one getting back to you. They say message them directly and when you do, they still don't reach out. Was supposed to get a call from the general manager today and of course haven't heard a word. Called my sales rep that originally set me up, never heard from her because she probably got paid since i prepaid and could care less. I paid $300 to prepay and could not get ahold of my sales rep to see when my first application was. After I threatened to cancel, I was schedule for the next day. Have been waiting on an application for the last 3 weeks after being "locked" in. Was supposed to get an application for the past 2 weeks and wouldn't you know if, I was supposed to get one today and was pushed off another week. You are also promised that they kill the crabgrass and grubs, but my crabgrass has gotten way worse, and still have birds tearing up my yard looking for grubs. I call in about the grab grass then they say they can't guarantee crabgrass being killed, and that since I am a new customer it will take longer. Weeds and lawn kept getting worse over time even though they were allegedly servicing my property. Then last summer they did something to kill my lawn where ever they walked. So I had strips of dead lawn all over the yard. Manager came out and agreed it must have been something they did. Promised to make it right when aeration and overseeding time came. Guys who came to do aeration and overseeding knew nothing about it. I asked them to call their manager to check. They did their "standard" aeration and overseeding and left. I called and emailed 4x (nicely, I was not rude) over the course of 3 months. No one got back to me. Finally, when they were getting ready to start Spring service I called them again, explained the situation, explained that I was out over $300 to buy loam and seed and my time to reseed the areas they killed. Had been a customer for 20 years. Lived through the years when they were supposed to have treated for grubs and we got grubs and various times over the years when treatment was not properly applied. However, when my lawn was damaged by their treatment twice in one season, I had had enough. I called and complained, told them I wasn't paying for the final treatment of the year which had damaged the lawn (which their "lawn care specialist" confirmed when he came out to look at the damage). in February, I was shocked when a received a letter that my $60 balance was unpaid and sent to a debt collector. I called and received a call back a few days later that the balance had been removed and we were all set. When we didn't get a call about our first treatment date in mid-April, I called and was told that my account was suspended. Was told it would be fixed and we would be scheduled for treatment. Other week goes by and I call again and I'm told the issue was fixed. Two days later, account is still on hold. Don't know why I kept calling to try and be their customer. Happy to report I've called a new lawn service and will never use this company who has HORRIBLE customer service ever again. read more

In 2016, I spent roughly $2,000 with a landscaper to start a lawn. By the end of the 2016 growing season, the lawn had grown in well. The landscaper suggested the use of a lawn maintenance service. I contacted Tru Green (in Plymouth MA) and executed a service contract. During 2017 the lawn thrived under Tru Green's care. In the fall of 2017, Tru Green applied a material to my lawn. The material killed my lawn. In the spring of 2018, the lawn did not grow. It struggled in spurts and then died out. After countless attempts to contact the Andover/Chelmsford offices and numerous rounds of conversations with customer service reps, there was feeble or no response from Tru Green. It is a frustrating experience unable to speak with anybody in charge or who knew anything about repairing a damaged lawn. One would think that a national company would honor their mistake or apply the resources to fix a 400 sf lawn, but it was impossible to get anyone there to act responsively. The workers are untrained, anyone that showed up to correct the damages either brought the wrong equipment, or had only started working for the company and were not seasoned landscapers. There is a gentleman, Andy in Andover/Chelmsford, who texts a good game but does not follow through with anything. In one instance, a worker showed up, I had to go rent the roto tiller from Home Depot and tilled the lawn myself while he "raked". I suspended all service contract with this company, pending resolution of the lawn, yet they continued to bill me for work and did not refund my account. If I could give no stars I would. The Only thing TRUE GREEN is concerned about is signing up and prepaying for everything up front because god for bid you choose the pay as you go method which is there option "EXPECT" NO service!! We decided to try them for the mosquito and tick package plus fertilize and all they kept doing was canceling and rescheduling and when they would come they'd preform the wrong service. Or just didn't do it. I didn't make it to the door in 3 mins one time and they drove off and rescheduled the service which we had to call for the. To come back and do becasue then that rescheduled service got canceled by them again. So we kept calling and were constantly told that they were so sorry and they'd make it a priority for someone to get out there and do what we signed up for and basically just COME OUT! What's a fricken HASSLE this company is. Also we have a beautiful lawn, well did. To give my husband a break we decided to try true green so it was one less thing that my husband had to do and let me tell you what a HUGE a waste of time and money. We have never seen so many weeds in our life. Our lawn since they touched it because completely covered. Front and back yard. The highway grass looks better then ours. So Disgusted with this company. Who ever owns and managed it sucks! They also noticed all the weeds and said they'd be back and pay extra attention to it and GUESS what? YUP, they canceled and rescheduled! Lol they also kept forgetting to spray for ticks that was part of our package and when they said oh yes we will get someone right out for that. Yeah sure, because once again they canceled. So when were they gonna do it when the fricken season is over. I have kids that play out in the yard. I want the services done that I'm paying for. The three services they've come out to do out of seven we've paid for right away with the pay as you go. Obviously we PAY. I guess if they don't get you to pay up front for everything with the crappy service then forget any service AT ALL! This company is incompletely incompetent. I canceled my service today after the 5th no show for my lawn service. Last week I watched the technician pull up, then turn around and leave. I called and asked for an explanation, which I was told was he wasn't sure it was the right house? If you have a question, you have my cell phone number! Today they again ignored my house description I had just given them on my last call, and they applied weed and grub control for my 11k sq ft lawn to a completely different house with a 10ft x 10ft area of grass?
