Tony and his crew definitely rock I stopped by on a busy Saturday afternoon, this little coffee shop was definitely rocking. Fantastic Austin vibe outstanding customer service. They had an amazing seasonal lineup of PB themed drinks - I opted for the iced version of strawberry PBJ latte and ordered the mocha for my fiance. I went to Neon Belly specifically for a sweet treat so I can't review the coffee, although they have some great sounding drinks. I tried the campfire cookie, PB brookie cookie, and the jelly donut focaccia slice. The campfire cookie was the best out of what I purchased. It was more like a brownie than cookie. The PB brookie cookie was a little dry and nothing special. The jelly donut focaccia. I went back and forth on if I was going to get it because each slice is $5.50 and I wasn't sure if it would be worth it, but my need to try unique varieties of focaccia won out. Unfortunately, I regret the purchase. I warmed it up when I got home but the sides not coated in icing were dry and the jelly didn't add any noticeable flavor. Such a nice spot. The interior is bright, beautiful, and really pleasant, the kind of place where you actually want to sit with a laptop and get things done. Calm but not boring. Had a really good experience this morning, service was quick and friendly, seems like they're already running things smoothly despite being fairly new. The pastry case is pretty creative, brookies, sourdough bites, and smore cookies, along with the typical muffins, scones, etc. and your standard lineup of coffee options along with matcha and chai and a good variety of syrups. My favorite item by far was the quiche. It was a generous portion and felt a little indulgent in the best kind of way. Definitely tasted like real butter. The space itself definitely feels like a new coffee shop. Very bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed. I think the name comes from the kung fu move "knee on belly," although the interior decor is more of a psychedelic, retro-inspired art with also a cat theme. So mixed reviews there ‍ Then comes the food. We had a Parmesan garlic scone and it was good, tasty, but the crumb was more of a biscuit, not a scone. Good taste though. I got a sourdough cinnamon knot, and we also got a blueberry cream cheese sourdough something, it looked real promising but we both were underwhelmed. For drinks I got cappuccino and she got a baklava latte. Overall, it was an okay experience. This place is easy to spot as you're driving down Burnet Road, just look for that big pink sign on the building tucked into a small strip center as you're heading north. If you're coming by bus, there's a Cap Metro stop right out front. Once inside, you'll find a bright modern inviting space with music playing overhead. Much of the coffee they have here is locally sourced and they have a kitchen in back making those fresh baked goods. They even sell locally sourced gelato. They have an extensive coffee and tea menu, including iced matcha. They also have gluten-free options, nonalcoholic beer, even organic chocolate bars. This is a great place to crack the laptop open and enjoy coffee that puts Starbucks to shame. There is some outdoor seating facing Burnet Road. The only thing missing here is a drive up window. Some other facts you may wish to be aware of is the fact they do allow dogs, but only on the patio, not inside. They do have online service and curbside service. They do not have a lunch menu, but they do offer fresh made egg salad. I personally would like to see them expand the breakfast menu to include donuts, kolaches, and croissant sandwiches, but what they have is good. Their prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend the baklava latte. Free wifi as well. Friendly staff and passionate owners serving up fresh and locally made fare. Open at 6 AM seven days a week which makes it the perfect stop for your early morning commute. Plenty of parking as well. It has subtle sweetness, flavor, and espresso flavor. At first sip, most pronounced flavor was honey. That disappeared and I tasted powdered cinnamon. The rest of the drink was subtle pistachio. My default is in your face, jet fuel, espresso taste. But I do have days I'm craving a well done, delicate, proper latte. And this is it. Again, the espresso is subtle and delicate. But even though you don't "taste" strong espresso it definitely has an effect. I felt the rush a little over half way done. This place was awesome! It's adorably decorated, has comfortable seating, and the baristas were knowledgeable and good at their jobs. I got a matcha latte that was as good a drink as I've ever had - made with real matcha powder, not some junky syrup like you get at Starbucks. The only complaint I had (and it's not enough to remove a star) is that I asked for a drink "for here" and received it in a to-go cup. I'd prefer to avoid creating more trash if I can. read more
