I've been coming to Neighbor coffee for some time now and the last few times I've ordered their pour over it's tasted very similar to a regular drip coffee or an americano. Not sure if the beans have changed but the pour overs have not tasted the same compared to the way it used to taste when I first started coming here. The staff is always friendly so that's a plus. Parking isn't the greatest and one thing to keep in mind is that if you order online there is no dedicated online order pick up line so you'll still have to wait in line. It looked like there was only one person working and taking orders, so you might have to wait a bit to place your order or receive your drink. Large Iced Bourbon Caramel Latte ($6) + Oat Milk ($1): This drink comes with three shots of espresso, but it didn't have an overpoweringly bold coffee flavor. All the flavors were well balanced. I also really liked the caramel syrup--it didn't have that overly sweet, artificial sugar taste. I shared the drink with my husband and was caffeinated enough just from drinking half. I love the food truck park, plenty of shaded seating and well maintained. The park is a bit hidden, but it's great privacy. Service was quick. I got the hazelnut cream latte and a cute little sausage biscuit. Biscuit was plain, but well made and filling. The perfect size at a reasonable price- that's a rarity now. The latte was okay. Didn't get much of a hazelnut taste and is a bit watery. I opted for the large, but probably only drank 1/4. I'd still come back to try other stuff. read more

I didn't get to try the bourbon caramel unfortunately since they were out the day we went, but the spiced cookie was unique & delicious and so was the hazelnut! I got the Bourbon Caramel Latte (no alcohol, just in the name!) and it was INCREDIBLE. The menu has a lot of unique options, and they have pastries as well (scones, lemon loafs, and some others). The service was super quick, and when I placed my order, it felt like I was chatting with a friend - everyone was incredibly friendly, even early on a Saturday morning. There is some outdoor seating with an overhang that makes it a great place to sit and chat while drinking your delicious coffee. I wish I lived further north so I could get coffee here more often! There are 4 partially shaded tables next to their trailer as well as others scattered around. You can order ahead online via a Joe Coffee app. If, like me, you haven't used this service before, expect the typical sign-up friction. You might do just as well to order in person. Their service seemed pretty efficient on a Friday morning, maybe not worth saving the 3 minutes of ordering in advance. I was fortunate enough to get an invite to check out Neighbor Coffee and Friends through a Yelp Elite event and am happy to share that the two drinks I tried were delicious! I tend to be more of a tea drinker (usually several cups to a pot of tea a day), but I do enjoy a good latte every now and again. I was so torn between their flavor options and ended up deciding on the Vanilla Lavender and Hazelnut Cream (both with their alternative milk option of the day, which was an oat milk.) While I'm happy they offer alternative milk options, I do wish that they had a greater selection such as coconut and soy. Although both drinks were very good, I found the Vanilla Lavender was more flavorful and it was my clear favorite between the two. The Hazelnut Cream was good, but much lighter on the hazelnut flavor and not as tasty in my opinion. I am interested in trying the Bourbon Caramel next time, however the Vanilla Lavender is excellent and I highly recommend trying it! 9.2 - the location is cute, the Vanilla Lavender is delicious, and the service is extremely friendly (they even have dog treats!), however I was a bit disappointed by the Hazelnut Cream and would love to see a further expansion of milk alternatives. Why 5 stars? Because my visit was brief but I accomplished everything I needed. --- --- --- After eating an inordinately large lunch at a food truck in the same lot, I knew I was going to need some coffee before I got on the road and drove back to Houston. Fortunately, as I was waiting for my food, I glanced over and saw this coffee truck. I pulled up the reviews to see that they were great and I was sold on the fact that I could easily just walk over for coffee instead of driving around to find a place. The only negative about the experience is that the nitro tap was being fixed, so I settled for cold brew. It was great, however, and provided all the caffeine I needed to drive 3 hours right after eating probably 2,500 calories a few minutes earlier. Lastly, I couldn't resist the "toffee-doodle" cookie, which was delicious and one I'd be tempted to swing by to grab way too often if I lived nearby. Thanks for getting my home, NCF! read more

Austin has so many solid coffee shops, and Neighbor joins the long list! I ordered an iced vanilla latte, and it was really creamy and rich. Went to check out Neighbor Coffee with my dog and did not leave disappointed. I tried the Nitro Cold Brew because I'm. Lot really big on any frills with my coffee and it was just perfect. The taste was very smooth and perked me right up early in the morning. I also had the sausage biscuit which was great! The biscuit was light and airy and the sausage was just the tiniest bit sweet - a perfect compliment to the biscuit and my coffee. Neighbor is located in a little food truck park and had plenty of parking which is always a concern for me in this area, so that was a definite relief! On the way out I ordered my girlfriend the Iced Chai Latte which she reports was excellent as well. You definitely can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. read more

Neighbor Coffee and Friends is the new coffee truck in the 5000 Burnet Food Court. The 5000 Burnet Food Court is one of best food courts in the city. Trucks are carefully curated for quality. Neighbor Coffee fully deserves to be there. The coffee is good but what you are really there for are the biscuits. * * * Neighbor Coffee and Friends is not your standard Austin coffee truck. Coffee in this town is espresso - or more specifically espresso coffee drinks. People take the Starbucks formula and improve on it. Starbucks is a pretty easy standard to beat. You can find a lot of very good latte-and-snacks-in-a-cool-room establishments. Neighbor will do espresso if you insist. They will even dump milk and Italian syrup in your coffee if you insist. (They know the value of restraint. They remind you on the menu that cortado is an option.) * * * But what Neighbor is really all about is drip coffee. Drip Coffee is our neglected coffee ancestor. We visit Drip Coffee at the retirement home every few months. We only stay for fifteen minutes. Even high quality espresso houses tend to commit elder abuse against drip coffee. They just make a pot of coffee and let it sit and go bad. You order a regular coffee, you get stale indifferent Joe. * * * Here the focus is on magnificently executed drip coffee. For those of you who like fancy brewing technology, they do pourovers, French Press and Chemex. The fancy brewing pots work, I guess. However, to my ignorant mind, the big thing in coffee is having good beans, roasting them well and having the coffee freshly made. Repeat: the coffee should be freshly made. As long as you make the coffee fresh, your Mom's coffee pot should be just fine. However, in the spirit of advanced technology and whizbang pots, I ordered a cup of their pourover. Neighbor makes a dark strong bitter drip coffee. The coffee comes on rough. Drunk black, it is unpleasant at first sip. But I came to like it a lot. The coffee is strong enough that the taste will start accumulating in your mouth. As the taste accumulates in your mouth, it starts giving you a nice bitter coffee afterglow. The coffee afterglow lasts long after you finish your cup. Coffee afterglow is a good thing. It is like lying contentedly in bed afterwards. * * * But to hell with the coffee. What really matters is the biscuits. They do a plain ordinary buttermilk biscuit, accompanied by mini-tubs of butter and preserves. You can ignore the tubs. That biscuits all by themselves are sensational. My number one starchy treat for breakfast used to be the French Toast Bagel at Nervous Charlies. Neighbor's biscuits just blew French Toast Bagels out of the water. And they did it without resorting to sugar. Neighbor's biscuits are very savory. They are also very buttery without you adding any butter from the tub. Very savory and very buttery means something to love. They also do a lemon-lavender cake. I am not a lemon-lavender kind of a guy, But with baking this good, They just might make me lemon-lavender-curious. * * * If you are looking for a German chocolate cake peanut butter latte, you can go to Monkey's Nest. At Monkey's Nest, a German chocolate cake peanut butter latte would actually be pretty good. If you want to eat Japanese food while drinking brown sugar Vietnamese coffee, you can go to Sa-Ten. I kill for brown sugar Vietnamese coffee. If you want to spend all morning in a very cool room, pretending to be an experimental film maker or a graduate student in sustainable architecture, you can go to about a dozen places on the New East Side. Sa-Ten will work for that plan too. But if you want uncompromising drip coffee and really good biscuits, you need to go to Neighbor and Friends. You can do your studying and internet surfing at home. read more

I am happy to report that it was well worth the trip! They have interesting latte flavors like bourbon caramel, and have a rewards punchcard for frequent visitors (which I might become!) I have been here a couple times now and am obsessed. This has especially been great in terms of walkability and I love it for a small breakfast out and about. The drinks I have had and have really loved there are the iced chai, london fog, and iced spiced cookie latte (they can pretty much ice anything on their menu). I wasn't a fan of the decaf but have so far enjoyed everything else drink wise. For food options, I would definitely say go for the biscuits! They have a sausage biscuit which comes as a sandwich and then if you get the regular biscuits that comes with 2 biscuits +butter/jam. The regular biscuits surprised me with the butter/jam addition but I AM HERE FOR IT! One food thing I haven't liked so far was the babka, it was a bit dry and dense for my taste. There was maybe a small line on Saturday around noon but service was still really quick. There are so, so many coffee spots in town - but this one stands out to me with it's courteous service, smooooooooth coffee, and great flavor specials!
