Called the 1-800 number and made an appointment to bring my laptop into the local shop the next day. Walked into the shop and whoa! After a brief hello and sharing of what the issue I had been experiencing, Nick begins talking in a voice volume louder than I was expecting. He gave me the, "I've been doing this for more than blah, blah, years and...." Wow. Okay. I trust that you know what you are doing but did you have to start the attitude with me at 9:30 in the morning? He reiterated the prices the 1-800 person told me on the phone and then stopped talking and looked at me. He didn't ask me a question, so I didn't answer. Impatiently he then says, "okay?" I nod. After I sign on the dotted line and Nick prints, I was going to ask him if he was okay. But a male customer walked in and I figured I should keep my question to myself for now. I said thank you and out I walked. Feeling shaken and confused and hoping he wouldn't be there when I picked up my laptop in a week. One week later: received a call that my laptop was done. Confirmed with my husband that he was available to go with me to pick it up. Walked in the shop and was welcomed by Nick, though this wasn't the same Nick I experienced a week ago. We took my husband's computer into be cleaned, due to hackers. They checked it all out and rec purchasing a new computer. His had originally been a reconditioned, anyway, so it was definitely time. Took my laptop for a repair quote after one of the screen hinges broke. They offered me a $350 repair with used parts that were scratched so I decided to retrieve my laptop. Laptop was returned in worse condition with a damaged screen and some parts missing. I called back to complain about the issue but the technician blamed the damage on me. Awful customer service. read more

We tried them to solve a lap top issue and were completely disappointed. They over charged for a diagnostic only state nothing more than we already knew. They were completely rude on the phone and in person. My advice is to find somewhere else. We discovered most places will complete diagnostics for free and are considerably less expensive to complete the repairs. Don't go here is my advice period. read more

We had them out to set up Outlook on a new computer for our church (Microsoft & AT&T email don't talk to each other well). They charged $149 to come out. They hit the email account added and didn't check to see if all data transferred- when she tried to send an email none of the contacts were transferred. She called to have them come back out to complete the job. They couldn't-wouldn't come out for 4 days and it would be another $149 for them to finish what they started. We called the Geek Squad. They were able to finish what Nerds started and it was only $40. We won't use Nerds again. read more

I explained my problem- A damaged charging port. The young man looked at it. Told me how much for a diagnostic. In two days I got a call to tell me how much it would cost to replace the port, or I could use the second, perfectly working flash port that I did not know could be used to charge. I chose the latter but it cost me $50 for that bit of info.(diagnostic cost) The young man could have told me that up front when I talked with him. I do not like businesses that are not honest. I had to visit this place when a hinge on my work laptop broke. I was not disappointed at all! Johnathan looked into the problem and while it was a fairly quick and cheap fix, the computer manufacturer was encouraging the repair to involve replacing a much more expensive part. He was able to get the manufacturer send only what was needed! There were some delays in getting the correct part(not on the repair shop's end,) and he was communicative the entire time. I highly suspect that if I had gone to a big box repair shop, they wouldn't have pushed back against the manufacturer and I would have been paying much more. I highly recommend. read more

Nerds to the rescue! I purchased the on call package and see the charge each month, but when you have a problem, they are worth every penny. my tech started my "repair" on one night and had to finish on another evening as we live in the mountains and our internet service is spotty. I watched as programs were updated, ad blockers, malware and other "tune up" programs and services were performed. Best yet, I didnt need to pack up my computer, take it to a service and wait a week. the techs are helpful, and at one point when my internet service went down, the tech called me to arrange to finish the following evening. read more

Did not have a good experience with NOC. First I had to make appointments just to drop off and pick up my computer, which took a week. I brought my Macbook in for a general tune-up and cleaning (a few of my applications were glitching and keys were starting to stick). When I picked it up they said my apps were working fine. When I got home, they were still glitchy and my keys were still sticking. So basically I paid $180 for them to run an antivirus program and blow the dust off my fan (well, which I hope they did!). read more

Great Service! They informed me that my Mackeeper anti-virus is actually a virus anti-virus scam that I've been paying for. Apple MacBook Pro had a major virus for two months unusable completely wiped out my internet abilities, trackpad was broke. They gave me upfront pricing, date and finished on time called me to tell me. Removed nasty virus and installed an antivirus per my request. This is after I tried Apple store in fashion fair where they can't tell you if it can be fixed and must send off hot weeks and much more money than Nerds on call. I highly recommend this business. I went in because my MacBook Air Mod 2011 needed the battery serviced. It wouldn't hold a charge at all and needed to be rebooted every time I turned it on. I contacted them on this site and within 10 minutes they responded. I told them about my issue, they said they could help and I took my computer in. I was welcomed by Jonathan at the front desk and he was very accommodating and reassured me that my computer would be ok. I paid the labor fee and the new battery fee and I left my computer in their hands. I am the type to bug when I leave things so I called the next day to see how my baby was doing and was told my tech was working with someone and would get a call back and Jonathan called me back and said that my computer was running much better. I picked it up today and asked a lot of questions about viruses and other things I should be aware of since I'm not too technology savvy. Jonathan answered all my questions and gave me suggestions. Good thing the estimates are free because I didn't pay them a dime. I picked up my computer, bought parts on eBay an did it myself and I have no experience fixing computers. I took my computer in because of a hard drive failure. They explained that they would take a look and find what happened. It took over a week. I had to call them to heat information. They explain to me that the hard drive did fail, and it would need to be sent away to be diagnosed and see how much data can be retrieved for $69.00 . They had it for a period of three weeks I did not hear anything I called the first person I spoke to said there was a shipping issue and the and the Recovery Center just received the hard drive they did an analysis I'm told me it would be over 1,200 dollars I said why has it taken so long for you to tell me this I was giving no answer other than blaming on ups I am not satisfied with that response I am not satisfied with the link the time it takes to do this and when I first walked into the office in Clovis I sat on the couch for 12 minutes before I was even I noticed I was in the office I had to raise my voice to be noticed. I can not recommend them for any future service to anyone. read more

OK then, for me, I would rate this a ZERO stars if I had that option--though, in fairness to "Nerds on Call," I understand my personal experience is likely unique. I never write reviews, but this one bothered me enough to warrant a negative review. Took in a macbook pro on 5/2/16 to fix a broken screen. Alex told they could fix it, but there would be a non refundable labor charge of $179 (since it was definitely more than 15min), and the laptop would have to be shipped to northern CA since they had the required tools. Parts would be $149 or less. Should be done in a week. OK fine. Do it. They call 2 days later--though I'm out of the country for another 5 days. Immediately on return, I call back and talk to Scott C. He says "unfortunately" (uh oh)...this particular model laptop will be $229 to replace JUST the glass--though, no guarantee that the entire display will work afterward. If I want a sure-thing repair, the cost for an entire new display will be an additional $449. WTF?!!! Now I'm angry. What happened to the $149 max??!!! It's been a week, I've spent $179, and they've done NOTHING so far. Can you say "Bait and switch"??!!? I ask to speak to the manager, and regarding the manager, Scott tells me "He's busy." I say, "Is he there?" "Yes" "What's he doing?" "He's busy." "What's his name?" "Sean Burke." "Is he with a customer?" "Yes." OK. Have him call me asap. 7 minutes later, I get a call from Redding, CA. Wow. It's the manager, Sean Burke. Sean says, "What can we do to make this right?" Cool. He'll listen---except, turns out he has nothing to offer. I finally say "OK, I'm done. Just ship my computer back to me." This goes back and forth as he claims he can ONLY ship it back to the office in Fresno. Finally he says, he'll talk to HIS manager about shipping it to my door--and he'll call me back. 2 hours later, I call HIM back--leaving him a message to call asap. 24 hours later, I call HIM back AGAIN! (Why the F do I have to call HIM back??!!!) "Hi, how can I help you?" he says. I say, "Is there a reason you didn't return my calls?" "Was I supposed to?" Good grief. He now tells me he didn't know he told me he'd call back and ignores my point about having left him a message 2 hours later. Turns out he sent it back to the Fresno shop ANYWAY and didn't bother to tell me. I ended up spending $179 and got ZERO for it. I'm obviously HIGHLY disappointed in this BS. They jacked me around, didn't return my calls, and then wouldn't even ship it to my house. Not ever giving them my business again. Update: The very day after I posted this review (posted on 5/9/16), I got a nice call from HQ Nerds on Call, quickly apologizing and offering to refund me all but shipping in exchange for editing my review. I happily agreed--though, I had no intention of editing this review UNTIL there was a credit posted to my account. Fast forward nearly 2 weeks. STILL no credit. Thus, no edited review.
