I haven't ever been to a card shop where the store workers have disrespected 1 person! Let alone a full community in the same incident! Screaming at someone should be the last thing anyone working in a store where you rely, on the communities! I don't recommend anyone to coming in and spend money or time here! 1- they wont start a local tournament if they don't have 8+ people! (Ive seen others start it with 6 minimum!) 2- screaming at the customers will not fly! Especially if they didn't nothing to deserve it! Reason for screaming and disrespecting! Was for reporting their results 4 feet away from the workers! Then popping off at the rest of the community! 3- they had 8 people to kick off the tournament! And then had 2 drop! The male worker admitted that working with 6 was too much for him and his worker to handle. 4- i never walked in to store where they are eating greasy food and they want to handle cards and money! This place is absolutely awful and the workers are bunch of control freaks. Very petty and disrespectful. You're not allowed to talk about monetary value of cards even for trade value purposes. You get scolded like a child if you play audio from your phone. They also carry a few items that are bootleg or unofficially unlicensed merch. They claim that they can't run tourneys less than 8 people, but they've definitely done it before using some mental gymnastics when confronted. They've burned just about every TCG community at some point. Anyone within the Pokemon, YuGiOh, One Piece, Digimon, and Weiss community can attest to this. They're deliberately not transparent on a lot of things so they can change their answers on how they see fit later on. If you're casually just buying some products once in a while, the store might be fine for you. If you're in the TCG scene, go elsewhere. read more

Cool store with nice employees and lots of collectibles and cards available. They even have unique Asian snacks not normally found elsewhere. That said. They place is a rip off. It's very convenient being behind my kids BJJ place but after comparing prices of what the sets cost online versus what they sell here, it's almost a 100% mark up. A small bag of Asian chips, $5. Pokemon booster pack, $170. Japanese Soda, $5. While these look exotic, they aren't. I understand making a profit and a small mark up but that's ridiculous. I see that the patrons that come here to play don't ever buy anything and now I know why. It's just for suckers like me. read more

Disclaimer: Review is based on an experience I had back in 2019 prior to COVID. I received a promo card for the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game from Comic-Con, and I wanted to buy a starter deck so I could actually play the game. I visited a few other card and hobby shops in Reno and no one carried Final Fantasy TCG. Enter Nerdvana Games. I had been here a few times before with my brother because he's a huge Weiß Schwarz fan, but this was my first time buying cards here. Not only did they have the starter deck I was looking for, I had happened to go into the store during a Final Fantasy TCG tournament. The owners and patrons were very excited that I was interested in playing, that they actually sat me down and taught me how to play. It was one of the most welcoming experiences I ever had. I don't have too many friend who play TCG's, so to suddenly met a group like that was out of this world. With a great selection, clean atmosphere and friendly environment, you can't go wrong. My wife and I vacationing in Tahoe, decided to take a day trip to Reno, visit some antique shops and grab dinner. In between, we found Nerdvana and had to see what this place had to offer. We were not disappointed in the least. You'll find a lot of what you would expect from a game ship but the tall standout was the guy working behind the counter. Yima (I'm sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly), was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and displayed a real passion for tabletop gaming. As someone who is new to the game I was intimidated to ask about items but they really helped us out. They truly love the game of MTG and wanted us to have fun and enjoy the game as well. I saw this gaming store while visiting a nearby business, and since I'm a gamer, I stopped inside. The owner was there and I chatted with him while checking things out. He's a super nice guy, and the store is super clean. Unlike other game stores in town, Nerdvana strives to put the communities best interests first. It's a friendly, more casual environment from a competitive play crowd, which is nice. They also have really good prices on sealed product, compared to some of the other places I've been to in town. For example, Games Galore is a great place to game, but it's two locations in the mall, with the entertainment center being a very large space. They've got a lot of overhead and have to make their money. So, you don't often find deals on boxes of cards for a new set. Nerdvana has multiple tables where you and some friends can play some games, and they have a decent variety of snacks available for purchase when you don't want to go out and buy something. They've got board games, anime, and various collectible card games, like: Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, Yugi-oh, Force of Will, and more! Another great thing about this store is they will buy cards from you all the time. They offer 50% value in cash, or will give you 65% value as store credit if you're looking to pick up some other items. The store credit is good on anything except discounted merchandise and the sealed boxes of product. They have a growing inventory of singles, for all of the games, nicely displayed in some shimmy glass cases. They have a calendar in the shop showing upcoming events for each of the games, and starting January 31st, they have a MTG league starting. So, if you're in the mood for a casual, friendly experience, and want to avoid the "filthy try-hards", Nerdvana is a great place to go! read more

I love all of the stuff stores like this sell, so I was jazzed to see another one opening in our fair city. They have a fair amount of your usual trading cards, dice for tabletop games, vintage video games and consoles, anime, manga, and board games as well. Seeing as they are still new, I'm sure that collection will grow and I'm looking forward to that as the selection today was... modest. The folks running the place were friendly but seemed very overwhelmed by the amount of customers who were lining up at the register but, again, they are new so I'm sure this will pass wit. I do worry that the proximity this store has to the other two far more established dens of geekdom here in Reno will hurt its business but there's room for everyone in my book. As it stands right now this will not be my first stop for my gaming needs but I will be back. read more

I had one of the most strange encounters with this store. I recently got back into collecting Pokémon with my nephew as a hobby, we had some duplicate cards we were looking to sell and thought our local tcg store would be the best spot for this! Boy was I wrong... I've never been met with such an awkward and quite frankly scary response to a question I had for the person evaluating the cards I was intending on selling them. While "evaluating" my cards one by one online (you should know the price points on hits from new sets) I asked if I could have one other card added to the list and asked for a round about price. That's where things hit the fan, I was then told (well after he had taken 20+ cards from me and taken them out of their sleeves) that they will not give prices for individual cards (as to not create a market?) nor would I be given a breakdown for each card he was intending on buying from me, only a bulk offer on them all. This is supposedly stated as "store policy" and after I stated that was very scary on my side of the exchange I was simply stared at for 30+ seconds and then told it was store policy after again stating that it seemed very weird and again not comfortable on my side of the exchange. While only recently getting back in to the hobby I've already come across so many amazing people and companies who are very open about the things this store is trying to keep private. Everyone I've run in to be in at the Frank & Sons convention in LA or even smaller tcg shops around California all have such passion and open dialogue about the hobby, this store merely came across as a greedy (both price wise on their product as well as buying from loyal customers) and self entitled, very much so in it to make a quick buck! I mean they sold a Chilling Reign booster right in front of me for $150 (market is ~$80) and told the guy it was a good deal! It's sad, as this is my closest tcg shop, but I've heard about shops like this and I won't ever be returning. Also, though there is no mask mandate anywhere in the state, they hound you about masks the second you walk in. Please do some research, on both cards and the effectiveness of clothe masks. I'm also in the process of starting my own community locally as well as online. Doubtful they're along long enough to see it happen, but they (and shops like them) will be discussed heavily on the channel! read more

Saw this new card store and thought to check it out! Is a small location but there are 4 tables set out for players, snacks (chips and candy), and of course merchandise. Shopped for Pokemon trading card game and they had a dozen different kits to choose from, and they also did a search on their database for ones didn't find there. Great store, I went in looking to try out D&D Adventure League for the first time. I meet a bunch of great people. fun and friendly to play with. a great store with Amazon prices. fricken amazon prices (+/- 2%) great service, you can see what you're buying and they will special order books, and other items for you. I've been very happy with the store and found some great books that i really wanted, and some harder to find items. and of course Dice. full sets, mixed sets, loose dice. what ever you need. We found them! *heart emoji* We have been checking out game stores in the area, and had a good experience here. Nerdvana is a small store tucked into the back of a shopping center but it has ample play space for games and a small but varied selection of RPGs, card games, and board games. We were greeted promptly and cheerfully and were able to peruse some recent releases and I found a title I was looking for. We also grabbed a flyer about an upcoming performing arts event they happen to sponsor and mentioned my wife's interest in Disney villains. The clerk (owner?) made a great suggestion about a Disney card game called Villainous that we might enjoy. I'm still looking for a store that carries more RPGs on the shelf, but I will definitely come back to Nerdvana in the future! read more

Nerdvana is a great place in town to find vintage Pokemon Cards, in fact I think its the only store in town that actually sells older cards. I think the prices are fair, and they are always cycling new cards daily, so I am always surprised to see what they have in stock. The staff are always accommodating to me, and are willing to go the extra miles to help me with what I am looking for. I don't collect newer cards, but its always refreshing to see that I have it in stock, considering what is happening in the marketplace. If you are driving through town and you are a collector, this is definitely a place you should check out. read more

My 8 year old has been in numerous times for Pokémon cards. The last time we went in the owners wife I believe was so sweet and patient with him answering his questions. They had a lot to choose from! There were a lot of people at the tables playing a game and I really appreciated the owners "language" warning when someone cursed (didn't hear it and we've herd them all lol) but it was the principle that he looks out for young ones who walk into their store. Came down to Reno to visit family and found this shop. Really great variety of offerings especially for folks like us who have a large variety of interests. Huge selection of DnD figures, books, and beautiful dice! Will be stopping here when in town! James and Ian were very friendly and immediately greeted us when we entered. When they first opened they were all about the community and the player base. Now they have really gone down on the player base every time I go in they make up new rules. For all you weiss players if you guys are planning on buying boxes make sure you don't open them in store or let the staff know if you pulled the sp because if you buy 6 boxes and pull none the employee Josh or even James himself will buy the remainder of the boxes and pull the expensive card from it. I have seen it happen to many times to many. As knowledgeable as they are they discriminate against certain individuals. Makes no sense that you can't work deals in store but you have employees selling cards as well should that be against the policy as well? This was a great place for tournaments and they wonder why the weiss community isn't going or why they ain't making numbers for yugioh. You don't take your customers into consideration but go with what you heard from the staff even though you didn't get the full details. But if you want to lose business than you lose business. I suggest if you guys want to buy cases or boxes do it online. I bought a box of weiss and it was randomly missing a pack and guess what? Indeed I didn't pull anything. Either the person that bought that one pack got really lucky or sometimes they be scaling there product. Sorry for my 2 cents but either you are here for the community that helps you stay in business or you are there for your personal gain. Maybe you should consider the fact that Josh has an attitude and you check your camera and see who truly is the problem some of your workers when you don't sell them what they want it becomes and issue?
