Don't go here unless you want to be treated like shit from front staff. Had an appointment at 9. Called saying we were running late and gave a time frame. Was told that's completely fine. Checked in at 0909. By 9:12 was told that we were 15 Minutes late. Corrected them that we called ahead and weren't 15 minutes late. Still refused to take us. Called management and was told the stylist actually double booked us. So if you want to spend several hundred dollars on one row of highlights just to have your stylist be doing several people at the same time. Go for it. Front desk staff incredibly rude. We also booked a month in advance and it was for a 13 year olds birthday. All put in the comments. I understand being late but then tell the person when they call ahead. read more

I'm a huge fan of experience as well as just a good service. Neroli delivers on both. My biggest fear with this location was parking, but so far on Saturday mornings I've always been able to park on the same street or just around the corner - closer than I was able to ever park at the Third Ward location. Everyone is always friendly and you're greeted on arrival with a warm towel and something to drink. Lexi is my go-to and she always takes the time to see what I'm thinking about my hair and does a great job of offering suggestions versus giving what I want. I really love that she looks out for me my remembering different products that I like and telling me about what's new. My color always turns out rich and beautiful. One of my favorite things about the experience is getting my hair rinsed after a color. A reclining chair has a spot to put my feet up, I also get a head massage, and sometimes a hand massage as well. Bliss!! So why not 5 stars? It's not a big deal, but the processing area (where you wait with color on your hair) is a small bench in front of the washing stations. For me to give the 5 stars of perfection, I'd find a nice out of the way space to sit with more comfy chairs. read more

I saw Kirsten, who greeted me kindly and on time, and showed me to my chair. I was getting a partial highlight, and told her I had previously seen Sally (whom I loved) and was very happy with what she did. Kirsten said great, she would look in the computer and see what Sally had done previous, and came back quoting me a price of $125. (!!???) I've never paid that. But okay.....I asked if I could see a color swatch of the color she had mixed. She said "It doesn't really matter, because they're not real hair on the example swatches anyways, and it always turns out different on the client." Again, I was baffled. Previous stylists at Neroli had always been very thorough in showing me the color swatches. But I thought, she's the professional, I'll just let her work. She began by slathering my head with a very dark mixture. Panicked, I asked her what she was doing. I had never seen highlights applied like this! She said "you want your roots touched up, right? Highlights won't do that." I politely said no, I don't want whatever you're doing. Please do partial highlights. (I'm honestly not sure why this was so complicated, but I won't jump to the obvious conclusion - that she was purposely trying to upcharge me.) I honestly was ready to overlook it. She washed the dye out and we continued with the appointment. As she was doing the highlights, I noticed she wasn't putting the foils up to the roots - rather, she was starting a half inch or so down from my scalp. Strange, as other stylists at Neroli have always been careful to get the dye directly to the roots. Again, I thought - she's the professional, I should trust her. Only later did I learn from my stylist friend this is a common ploy to get you to come back sooner for your next dye job. I have no idea what Kirsten's motivation was in not putting the dye all the way to the roots. Never did I indicate I wanted an ombre look, this was a very straightforward partial highlight. Kirsten finished the appointment. The color turned out totally strange looking to me, but she said it "went with my skin tone". Again, what do I know. I'm just the customer. When I got home and the color started to settle, I was horrified. There were large, unusual looking chunks - as though she completely skipped the weaving, and just dyed a large portion- but only at my temples. When I started looking at the other layers of my hair, it appeared as though she simply dripped peroxide on it. There were large dyed ridges where the foil stopped (an inch or so from my head) and other had literal spots of dye. SPOTS. Not streaks, dime sized spots, spotting my head. I immediately got on the phone with Neroli. I currently have an appointment 2 weeks out to see her again. I hope that this can be repaired at no cost to me - I tipped her $20 on a $70 bill, and I don't believe I owe any more money to the salon for a color correct. read more

It is worth the amount, you feel you are welcome in the salon, all of the staff is extremely nice and they make you feel welcome. It is an upper scale hair salon. If you are a fan of upper scale hair salon, in their category it is really worth it! and they know what they are doing. I made an appointment with Kristin online. I chose her because she was one of the cheaper stylists at the salon according to the site. When I sat down in her chair, I told her what I wanted, and she was accommodating with what I needed. I also mentioned that I had been to the bayshore location with a separate stylist. When she came back to me with the estimate I was expecting her to say something around $200 (the website estimated $150), but no.... $350. That is the most I've ever paid for a hair style in my life, but I justified it because I was asking for pink and teal and I thought maybe that was just more expensive. Anyways. She began processing my hair and wasn't very good at making conversation, but again I justified it because maybe she was having a bad day or something. Then, as we were washing out my hair, she began gossiping and whispering with another stylist. I don't think that's professional at all, and I found it to be really immature. When we were finished I was really happy with the color, it was perfect. Then, about a week later, GONE. now, I've used Aveda hair color for about a year now, and I've never had this issue. I think she did this intentionally to get me back there for a touch up as soon as possible. I feel extremely taken advantage of, and I wished I wouldn't have wasted my money on something that literally lasted a week. This location? I never hit this location for services, so I can't speak to that. What I can speak to? Convenience. Air Control hairspray = one of my drugs of choice, so when I'm out and I need my fix, this particular Neroli is, by far, the most convenient for me. That said, it's the smallest of the locations; it feels pretty cramped in here. Sort of strange to go in simply to buy product, as you're sort of all up in the stylists' area/on top of the folks who are getting their hairs done. Service was friendly and sweet, and I'm sure that the services are top notch (though possibly limited?) due to the size of the space. Maybe there's a secret upstairs/back area? I know not the answers to these burning questions. Chances are I'll always end up at the IBW or at the Bayshore Neroli for services, but for a convenient, Aveda-scented fix? This location surely does the trick. read more

An Aveda experience that unquestionably justifies the shop in billing itself as "Milwaukee's Premier Salon & Spa." I was in town for Milwaukee Pridefest and decided that I needed a fresh look for the occasion. I booked a last-minute appointment online with Sally -- and I am so happy that I did. The service included a consultation, shampoo, scalp massage, hot towel, rinse, and finishing -- more than justifying the price for the service, which is about average for a luxury salon in the Midwest. Sally took the time to understand precisely what I was envisioning for my new look. It's often difficult for me to articulate what I'm looking for in a haircut, and even my hairdresser at home doesn't quite get it right. By taking the time to understand my general style and comfort zone, Sally delivered an excellent service and end-product. She was meticulous in her work, but very efficient. It is quite clear that she is passionate about and quite skilled in her craft. I will definitely be making the trip to Milwaukee regularly for this experience. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this salon. It's 25 minutes from home but honestly I look forward to it. It's like Mommy's Spa day away. I love everyone who works here! They're so friendly! They're very accommodating. My only gripe is the waiting area in the back of the salon is tiny and VERY uncomfortable If you're waiting for your color to process (15-30 minutes depending) you end up with a sore back from sitting on their not-so-comfy benches This is the reason I gave them only four stars. Lexi is the best! I've been going to Neroli for a couple of years now and have always been very happy. Previously I'd tried several places--some high end, others less so--and always had to worry about whether I was going to walk out looking like myself. Lexi took the time to get to know what I wanted, and has done a fantastic job every time. The service is always friendly and approachable, and they don't push a ton of product on you like some other places. The facility is more compact than some of Neroli's other locations, so the waiting room isn't quite as luxurious. But they do a decent job with what they have :) read more

I like the accessibility of the site and that there is other fun stuff to do in the area--Colectivo, Whole Foods, Urban Outfitters. I have high expectations when it comes to service. I want it all--fair price, good manners, nice environment and people who know what they're doing. I get all of that here plus they are like a cute little family at this location so it is very warm and unpretentious. I never feel intimidated. Maggie is fantastic and I couldn't be happier. The second time I saw Samantha and was also very impressed. I will definitely be going back! Although the services are rather limited at this location due to size, their stylists are still superb. For a year I looked for a convenient hair place that knew how to style short hair, and everyone I tried needed a ridiculous amount of input from me to understand what I wanted, and even then it wouldn't be quite right. I decided to spend the extra $10 and try Neroli, and my stylist, Samantha, understood exactly what I wanted immediately. The price of a haircut also includes a shampoo and condition with a scalp massage, and they use all Aveda products (which have the only decent-smelling hairspray I've ever encountered), so I think it's pretty reasonable. I go back every six weeks for a cut and color, and I'm always extremely satisfied. read more

Lauren is an active listener. She takes into consideration your hopes/fears for your hair, tells you what a realistic plan of action is, and then will ultimately make you look fabulous. I'm somebody who likes an explanation for everything going on, and Lauren is both patient and passionate in describing -- step-by-step -- what she is doing and why. She is fun to talk to, has a relaxing/soothing presence, and will not let you leave unsatisfied. She recently convinced me to put blonde in my hair for the first time in my life. I set up an appointment with Samantha as the previous reviewers recommended. It was quite a wait as she was still tending to the client before me when I arrived for my appointment. Luckily, I was not in a rush, but it was duly noted. For that, I have to deduct one star. Once she started getting to work on my hair was when I started to pay closer attention to service. She asked questions and most importantly, listened. I went in for a trim because I want to maintain my long locks for my upcoming wedding. Many might not pay $$ for a more skillful stylist for a trim, however, I've seen horrible trims before. A masterful hairdresser can make a trim look really good even though it's just a trim. She added shape and listened to what I wanted. I was very happy with the end result. My usual hairdresser has moved out of state, and we know hard it is to find a hairdresser. I'm glad I can trust in Samantha's services. I will be going back and recommending her services to friends and family. read more

I went here for an event. The plan was to have my hair and makeup done for my evening out. I wanted 1-2 inches of my hair trimmed and a light upper layer and a wispy below the brow bang. When my hair was finished I had a SIDE PART, and so many layers that my hair wad thin. I made it clear, so I thought, that I was saving my hair to donate to Locks of Love; and now it seems that won't happen for quite some time. I commented on how my hair felt very light but that I didn't see my hair all over the floor. She said a coworker swept it up. She took my hair from my low back/butt and it's now at bra band with ratty layers. I HATE it!! Next up I was having my brows done because there was no time for makeup. I don't know what the heck I was thinking!!! My brain was thinking I was going to have brows drawn on; I was excited. Instead it was waxing which I have never done. I closed my eyes a felt the warmth on my lids.... ok I thought, not to bad. But when the above brow happened.... for me that was forbidden territory. )..after the wax we went to a different chair. I have no clue what was put on my brows but it didn't stop the burn. That day my only joy was watching a few women & kids transformed into a more beautiful them and seeing those smiles. As for Me, I got in my car, my eyes red, swelled and itchy and sporting an awful haircut. I cried and my evening was ruined. I had an allergic reaction, to the wax ,that still hasn't gone away. One other thing, I do not like Aveda Products!! They test on animals and have chemicals in them that are not good for my skin. Bottom line... EVERYTHING comes at a cost!!! My cost was my eyes swelled and my hair was chopped into ugly and wasted!! I should have went to HEADS UP or even Great Clips The 2 stars Is for the scalp massage & hand massage, even though my hands felt greasy from the product, the massage was lovely. read more

Excellent first experience with Maggie! I had previously be going to the same hair stylist/colorist for about 15 years, and wanted a change. I felt like I wasn't being heard and wanted a fresh perspective, and that's exactly what I got with Maggie. She listened to my concerns and had great input. Based on her Instagram photos, I knew she was an expert with color. I absolutely love my new lighter ombré and the cut feels so fresh. Also, the entire staff was so friendly and welcoming. It's been over a year now that I got my pixie cut. I previously had medium length hair and wanted to get it all cut off so I randomly walked into Neroli on the east side. I was so incredibly lucky to get Sam, she is truly a genius and an artist. She really knows exactly what cut will be the most flattering on you (I know because I accidentally lost her card and got my hair cut by a different person and it didn't look right on me at all). Luckily, after a couple of attempts, I reconnected with her and my hair has never been better. I'm now really scared of having to move away and lose her! read more

I went to this salon for the first time yesterday after making the appointment just a couple hours prior with Kirstin. I was a bit nervous not having been there before but have been looking for a great new stylist since moving to the MKE area a couple years ago. I haven't had a full haircut in almost two years on account of growing out a bob for my wedding this past NYE, so really needed someone to refresh my style and completely reshape my hair and couldn't wait a day longer. Kirstin gave me exactly what I was looking for without me having to really even go into much detail. Of course the scalp massage is an extra treat, and I've been to other Aveda salons where it wasn't anything special but I felt like she actually put positive energy into it. I started feeling refreshed before I even made it to the sink for a hair wash. Not only did I leave feeling awesome and refreshed with a fresh new style and some pampering, but Kirstin was also just really awesome. I loved talking to her and she made me feel comfortable right away. I will definitely be back to her for my next hair cut, hopefully as long as I'm in MKE. I have been coming to Neroli to se Josef for over two years now. He is the best in Stylist in Milwaukee by far! He is honest on what really works for you! Not to mention his amazing experience in color, fashion shows, photo shoots etc.... He trains his assistants very well. I had such a fantastic experience at Neroli Salon & Spa! I work at a nonprofit, and the talented stylists at Neroli were generous enough to host a private event for the clients we serve at their east side location. At least 8 stylists came in on their day off to provide haircuts for 39 women and children...for FREE! Plus, they did makeup and waxed eyebrows when possible to provide a full day of pampering. It was such a moving day full of big smiles and stunning transformations. Thank you to everyone at Neroli for your kindness and generosity. I have been going to see Dez for my hair for several years now, and I followed her to the east side location when she left the downtown salon. She is so good at what she does- cut, color, whatever you choose. She has magic hands, for sure. Our whole family goes, including my toddler, who loves Dez. I've been going to Neroli East Side for a few years now and Josef has always been my stylist. I can't begin to articulate how wonderful he is and, since I just moved away, I'm terribly sad to leave! I truly view him as more of an artist, since he has these great visions that always push you an incremental 10% on the changing-it-up scale. To be more specific, he's amazing with color and, even though I have a longer style, he's tremendous with both long and short cuts. I can attest to his short style prowess because a friend of mine with a short bob was kind of enough to give me Josef's name after I complimented her cut. On a personal note, Josef is also a wonderful guy and never makes you feel as though he's rushing (even though he's very popular/busy). He's got a passion for styling current trends and you won't be disappointed. Note that he is one of the higher-level stylists, so you'll find the price point to be a bit higher. Honestly, I doubt it will matter to you as it's worth every penny. Lastly, the staff at the front counter as well as the junior team that occasionally performs your hair wash/scalp massage are also lovely people. All in all a great team! read more

Thursday I had an appointment for balayage with Maggie which I've seen her for in the past. I asked for more blonde to be put in but I asked specifically if my hair would turn orange and was told no, definitely not. So, she knew my concern with orange hair. Anyway, it did turn out orange and terribly stripey and has odd chunky highlights throughout my bangs. I previously have never had any color in my bangs so I don't know why she put dye in them this time. When I got home I saw how terrible it looked so I called Neroli and I thought they would likely suggest something. They said that toner would help and that Zach, another stylist, had an appointment on Monday at 4 pm. I went in Monday at 4 pm and at 4:25 I still had not seen Zach and nobody came over to tell me he was delayed. At 4:30 Zach came over and we talked about the color. He agreed that it was uneven, stripey, and the bangs look really odd with weird sort of highlighted chunks of color. He said toner, which is what the original stylist, Maggie and the person who made the appointment for me told me I should do, would make my hair look worse so he thought some semi-permanent color would make it look better. He said that I would have to make another appointment on a different day. I asked if I could have anything done that day and he said no, it would have to be on a different day. Zach was 30 minutes late for my appointment (which was a 45 minute appointment) so he didn't have time for any service. He told me I could come back March 31. So I got terrible color for $135, Neroli made me a 2nd appointment where the stylist disagreed with the original stylist on what service should be done, he was 30 minutes late, and he didn't even do anything to my hair. I did get a voicemail asking if I want to make an appointment with Maggie again. At this point, Zach told me what Maggie suggested would make my hair look worse so of course I am hesitant to have anyone touch my hair or put any more color on it.
