I went to this shop in January during a very hard time for my family and needed a break from the chaos. My mom and cousin and I were greeted happily and given a perfect shopping experience. My mom asks a lot of questions and the cashier was so patient and pleasant :) There was a good amount of trinkets in stock, from kitchenware to stationery and unique gifts. The store was also very clean and items were priced fair. I'll be sure to stop by every time I am in town. read more

I love nothing more than shopping in a store filled to the brim with trinkets and objects waiting to be discovered & offering up so much inspiration to turn your house into a home. It's also the perfect place to shop for extremely thoughtful and personalized gifts as well for all the sweet people in your life. The stock at Nest is always changing, so every time I come here there's new things to discover. They have an array of small house plants with all different sized planters to choose from. If City Bird is my favorite store in Detroit, Nest is a real close 2nd place. Not surprisingly they're owned by the same team as City Bird so they have that same amazing eye. Nest is a bit more home-decor based than it's CB sister, and they've got you covered if you want unique pieces for your kitchen and bath in particular, like Charlie Harper glassware, a gold pineapple shaped cocktail shaker, Hamilton/Burr shot glasses, a whale-shaped nail brush, distinctive soap dishes, etc etc. If you love in-home greenery this is also a great place for picking up air plants, terrarium pieces, bulbs and flower kits, herb garden kits, etc. Plus amazing pieces like mounted butterflies, incredible smelling soy candles, and more. The one two punch of City Bird and Nest makes gift shopping a breeze. I can knock out most of my Christmas list each here during a visit too. Keep up the amazing curation, Nest! read more

Short and sweet review for this cozy home goods and gift shop. I found myself with 5 minutes to spare so I popped in to see what Nest was all about. The space was filled with air plants, candles, baskets, lotions, wall hanging weaves, essential oils and a handful of other items that all could fall under the "tranquil" umbrella. Their location in a shop and eatery filled neighborhood makes Nest ideal to add to your moshing itinerary. I would have loved to see a few more plants that weren't air plants but I understand that these require more TLC. I also appreciated that they offered a small clearance section with some fun rotational items. If you're looking for plant hanging ceramics, they also offered a decent stash of those. read more

Another cute store from the same owners of City Bird. I love the kitchen goodies here. It's a bit small and can get crowded but don't let that keep you from shopping here. They have a couple of nice benches outside to relax and wait until it clears out a bit. This place is great for the person on your list who has everything, you know the one...you inwardly cringe when it's time to shop for them. Hop in your car and head to Nest (or City Bird) and I promise you, you will find something....and they will like it!! Cozy, fun, and trendy. We weren't there five minutes before my wife asked me if we could throw away all of our glasses and dishes and restock our cabinets with everything from the shelves in Nest. If I weren't so tightly-laced fiscally, I might have agreed. The space is small but not too claustrophobic, and laid out smartly - tables and displays give you plenty of merch to admire, but aren't so full that you feel like you're overlooking anything while you browse. Although some of the stuff was a touch too 'novelty gift' for my taste, Nest is definitely a great place to find unique home decor or giggle-worthy glassware. read more

As a going away gift for my really good friend, I bought her a notebook made from the recycled paper from an old, out of business, paper manufacturer located in the City of Detroit. She loved this gift. They also have little chocolates and mints made from local Detroit producers. They have hanging plants in glass that are really cool gifts. And don't get me wrong - the stuff is useful house essentials. Although unique, these goods can be used in your house. Plates, glass jars, utensils, etc. I may be biased but I love these stores and when I have to buy a gift for anyone and I want it to be from Detroit and unique, I go to City Bird and Nest.
