They have a great variety of materials to choose from for many needs, and is my preferred business to get many steam piping components. (Not the pipe though) However, there is no sales catalog, nor a website you can use to navigate their inventory. The staff are extremely rude and uninterested in doing their jobs. Employees will not check for stock on phone. They often refuse to even check for information even when your there in person. I would not go here if I had other options that were close enough.

So what makes Advance so much better in every way than big box stores? 1. Selection: Everything in their (gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous) showroom is better in looks & quality than what you'll find at those other places. Prices are overall higher, which is to be expected, but absolutely worth the difference. 2. Service: Shout-out to Josh, our accommodating, knowledgeable, low-pressure sales guy. He answered questions we didn't know we had, and this was one of the best buying experiences I've ever had. 3. Shop dog: Rufus. I'm sorry I didn't get a pic. I'm sure that VGB (very good boy) would happily have posed. SO CUTE. 4. Proximity to Slow's and Sugarhouse: Quite near. Where you go afterwards to celebrate getting a lovely new shower set or swanky toilet or super-cool vanity lighting. By all means, stop in. I *think* if you mention Harry Potter or Emma Watson, you get shown the secret passage to Detroit's version if Diagon Alley. ;)

Once the appliances were delivered I contracted a appliance technician to connect the oven for me and test it out and was told the oven doesn't work no gas to the pilot and one of the burners doesn't light. Contacted Peoples and was told there was no warranty. I was put on hold and requested a call back and newer received one. Spent $4,000 not to a call back. I would not recommend buying anything used from there.

My daughter needed some supplies for a catering job that she is doing so my first thought was to stop here. We were able to pick up cookware, serving dishes, bakeware, knives, aprons, serving and prepping equipment, and they even have large commercial appliances. Everything was price VERY reasonably and the quality is great. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. If you are having a graduation party, family reunion, or even just a dinner party, it's truly worth the drive.

It had the original cabinets from the 1970s. The shelves weren't even, and there was barely any counter space to work with. We knew we wanted to replace all the cabinets, get quartz counterop, and upgrade the layout to be more functional. We called another competitor first, and they quoted us that the bare minimum of what we were asking for would be over $45,000, which was more than twice our budget. When we met Bill, he wasn't pushy or salesy. We told him our budget and what we were looking for, and he was able to meet every expectation. It took about 8 weeks for our cabinets to come in/be made. Immediately after that, Joe and the crew came and completed our kitchen renovation within 2 weeks. My partner and I work from home, and the renovation did not disturb our workflow at all. We'll definitely be working with them again in the future when we update our bathrooms!

Had our kitchen done 25 years before and it took months to be completed (a true nightmare). Joe Allen was so patient with us because we had no idea what we wanted plus he designed a perfect change that we needed. Every morning he showed up to check on the job and even helped with moving out all our old appliances. I enjoyed working with his son who also help in picking out backsplash and colors. We were so pleased with them that I would call them again and highly recommend them. Whats nice you can tell they love what they are doing and their work shows it. Another quick note CKD was so fast at coming to give us a quote and very reasonable. Eileen S.

They are communicative, thorough, attentive, and do fantastic work. My kitchen project included cabinets, quartz countertop, electrical, plumbing, drywall replacement, ceramic tile backsplash. But from the very beginning, the team at HomeWorks made everything feel doable--and even exciting. We weren't just updating the kitchen--we went all in. They installed new custom cabinets, quartz countertops, a beautiful tile backsplash, and luxury vinyl flooring throughout the entire first floor. On top of that, we got a new front door, all new baseboards and casing, and honestly the cherry on top: gorgeous crown molding that gives the whole space a finished, high-end feel. One thing I really appreciated right off the bat was their quote process. It was super detailed--nothing vague or rushed. They broke everything down clearly so I knew what to expect in terms of cost and timeline. I felt like they were being straight with me, which meant a lot, especially as someone doing this for the first time. We had two design meetings to choose all the materials, and while I definitely needed that extra time to make decisions (I wanted to LOVE every choice), their design team was incredibly patient and helpful. They never pressured me or made me feel like I was dragging things out. They just wanted me to be happy with the final result--and I am! Once we got started, the pace of the project really surprised me. Demo was done within a day or two, and not long after that, cabinets were going in. The whole thing felt super organized. The only real wait we had was for the countertops--about three weeks after the cabinets were measured. But even then, they used that time wisely and installed the flooring throughout the house while we waited. So progress never stopped. And here's something that really stood out: there were no surprise costs. Everything we agreed on up front stayed the same. No hidden fees. No "oops, that'll be extra." I've heard nightmare stories from people getting hit with surprise charges mid-project. That didn't happen here. We paid exactly what they quoted, and the value we got in return was well worth it. The whole team was great. Every person who came into our home was respectful, professional, and easy to work with. They kept things as clean as possible and were always happy to answer questions or explain what was happening next. It felt like they genuinely cared about the work they were doing--and about our experience as homeowners. Now that the project's done, the kitchen feels like the heart of the home again. It's clean, modern, and just really well put together. I still catch myself walking in and going, "Wow... this is OUR kitchen!" So if you're thinking about remodeling, I'd definitely recommend HomeWorks CGO Inc. They know their stuff, they're honest and easy to work with, and they deliver beautiful results. I'd work with them again in a heartbeat.

A couple of times I had to make multiple trips in one day. The staff was always professional and helpful, and almost always had what I needed, which is saying a lot since I managed an old 50-unit building that needed a lot of things for a lot of problems. Sometimes I would grab the wrong thing, and it was never a problem bringing it back and exchanging it for the right thing. Sometimes my boss would get a bit behind in paying for it all, and they would gently remind me, and the ol' slumlord would send them a check from Florida. They were cool but firm about it. It seemed to be a situation they'd been through many times before. They have homey touches here - a small tv on the counter that's always showing something. A fridge with Faygo in the can. My favorite thing about 3rd Ave Hardware is the bicycle selection. In the warmer months there's a whole row chained together on the sidewalk out front. Old ten speeds, 70s 3 speeds, cruisers, mountain bikes, etc. But, wait, there's more inside! Another row between the front door and the register and still more up and down the cramped aisles! (3rd Ave Hardware could really use a more spacious locale.) The prices won't break the bank either. I just bought my second bike from there - a green mountain bike from CCM, that Canadian company that makes hockey equipment. It's a pretty sweet bike for $100. My last one was, too. It was an old 70s 3 speed with a big comfy seat and a glistening orange paint job that just looked like candy. Too bad it got ripped off. Oh well, that's life in the D. I won't pack it in, and I'm glad 3rd Ave won't either. I'm only knocking them down one star because of their paint selection. It's lousy and overpriced. Go somewhere else for paint.
