He also thinks that he knows more than other doctors, which also is a red flag. Most good doctors collaborate with other MD's in their field when they have a hard case, Dr. Li does not. He also will not refer you to Stanford or UCSF like he should, if he can't help you. The staff turnover rate speaks for itself. He also has a MD working there currently that is prescribing pain meds even though he has been disciplined by the medical board for over prescribing opiates on multiple occasions. Look up Dr. Hubbard. Go else wear and find a pain management doctor that actually cares about you!

As others have said, Dr. Li has absolutely no bedside manner and appears to have no interest in his patients. I think he was in the room with me for 5 minutes. He asked a couple questions, which I had already answered on the intake forms. I tried to volunteer information about my multiple forms of pain. He displayed no interest and quickly stated that he couldn't help me without knowing anything about my case or reviewing any of my records. I'm on blood thinners, so he decided (again without knowing anything about my case) that he couldn't do "injections" because of the blood thinners. That's one of the first questions on their forms. I submitted information to them in advance, so I really didn't understand why they even let me come in for an appointment in the first place. He asked me if my doctors knew I was on two blood thinners. Yeah, they know, they prescribed them. He said he had never heard of that. Really? Has he never encountered a Cardiac Patient before? My Stanford Cardiologist put me on a second blood thinner, so I'm pretty sure she knew what she was doing. He told his staff to refer me back to my PCP for a recommendation for Physical Therapy or Hydro Therapy or possible Acupuncture. I don't think any of those things are going to help. It just seemed like his dismissive technique before he quickly left the room. The entire experience made me feel weird and I was in more pain leaving than I was when I got there. I was under the impression that by going there, that they would try to figure out what is causing all of my pain and maybe come up with some solutions. Apparently that's NOT what happens there. The staff is unprofessional, but sadly I've gotten a little used to that in Santa Cruz County. I overheard some patients talking to the staff and they didn't seem happy. I've worked in Hospitals in a professional capacity and worked face to face with with more than 900 physicians. In addition, I've also been receiving ongoing care from so may physicians that I've lost track. I've met some arrogant, pretentious and dismissive physicians during that time that also had no bedside manner and obviously didn't care about patients and Dr. Li ranks in the top 10 based on my experience with him yesterday. I hadn't read any Yelp reviews before my appointment and I wish I had. I recommend NEVER going there. Look for another place to treat your pain issues. I'm going to try and leave zero stars, but I doubt Yelp will let me do that. If you see one star on this review, it's really a zero.

    Terrible! Both Santa Cruz office and Salinas. S.C. office the receptionist forgot to give me back…read moremy drivers license and both insurance cards after photo copying them. I forgot to ask after my app. because my head was spinning from all the info the NP gave me, which BTW was awesome.(Her name is Manli Huang.) Anyway it should be her job to remember. So, I go to the pharmacy to pickup my meds. That's when I realized my DL. was missing (I needed it to pickup my pain med). I Started calling the S.C.office when I got home at 3:50 no answer. They are supposed to be open until 5. Left many messages. Nothing! No call back. Called the Salinas office. Her name is Ashley I think. Spoke with the receptionist and explained the situation. She said I'll call the receptionist (at S.C). but said she might be on her way home and that I'll call you right back. Waited and waited no call back. I called her back. Said she couldn't contact her and that she would call her boss and call me right back. Which she kinda did.Took awhile. LOL She asked me If I could be at the S.C. office the following day at 9:30am. I said no but I can at 11:00. She was going to call the boss back again then call me right back. Never heard back from her!! When I called back it went straight to leaving a message and it was 4:54. Totally Irresponsible and unprofessional. I was told they only come to Santa Cruz once a month. It wasn't so much about forgetting. Everybody forgets. It"s really about not calling me in the first place when they saw. They would've had to see them you would think. Secondly, closing early, If they hadn't I could have come back and got it. Last, not calling me back. That was downright irresponsible. Thats her job! Unfortunately due to closing early and not returning calls I have to suffer through a night of pain. Possibly tomorrow, maybe more. Guess I'll just wait and see what happens...That's the only thing I can do, right? Once again Manli Huang PN is fantastic. I highly recommend her!
