(Parking in the tower is $3 with an appointment.) On the date of my appointment, the receptionists were kind and caring. The neurology floor lobby is freshly updated, modern, spacious, and clean. The nurse and neurologist spent an adequate amount of time with me to truly hear my concerns before developing a plan. So far, I am impressed with MUSC's neurology.

My personal experience with the Nurse Practitioner, Katie Smith, was positive but I cannot say the same for many on her staff. Instead of keeping me up to date and informed in a timely on my tests results, along with, providing accurate information, weeks would go by without a returned phone call. When I could get someone on the phone they were more often than not, unapologetic and rude. My requests for basic info re: my care went unanswered for weeks on end - not a returned phone call or email. Imagine being unable to reach anyone at your physicians office when you are in pain and need medication or would like test results and you are told "someone will get back to you" and, yet, no one does. I was warned that MUSC Neurology was difficult to deal with - I wish I had listened - It would have saved me alot of stress. Bottom line: I felt unimportant and that I was a bother --my needs were not a priority.

Visited once after a head CT scan following an accident found an anomaly. He wanted a follow-up MRI to get more detail to determine what the problem was and when I asked if I could have it done closer to home (1.5 hr drive to his office), he readily agreed and said he'd call me with the results so that I wouldn't have to drive all the way back to Mount Pleasant. Very nice. The receptionist however is another story. Every interaction I've had with her has been negative, as she's been rude , dismissive and condescending. As a patient with a history of cancer, anxiety and depression, and now dealing with an anomaly spotted in a brain scan, the last thing I want to have to deal with in the doctor's office is a bad attitude from a receptionist.

Well they didn't even listen to my cancellation. They tried to call me with a message saying they look forward to seeing me so I just ignored it. My friend said don't waste your time with them because she took her crippled Daughter there and they didn't even take her brace off to look at her injury so she said he just talked away and said that she needed to go elsewhere. She left and said it was a waste of her time to load her up with bring her to this place.

After several weeks of not hearing anything, I called myself to try and get someone to call and schedule the appointment. Never heard anything. I even went back to the original eye doctor who referred my husband to your clinic, to resend over the referral, hoping to spark your clinic to follow-up on this appointment being scheduled. We have heard absolutely NOTHING! In the meantime, my husband's eye continues to get worse. Very disappointing. I thought you guys would have done better!

Dr. Stewart took his behavior with grace, but I under no circumstance will ever recommend this neurologist and office to anyone. If this is how he treats others, I don't even want to know how he treats his patients. As a wife of a neurosurgeon, I am surprised he is not aware of the neurological benefits of a music education from a young age as it pertains to prevention of Alzheimer's, dementia, and let's not go down the benefits in regards to music therapy. I can attest there are many neurologists in the Charleston area far better than this one.
