The worst medical office I have ever been to. Especially the management and administration of this place sucks! The manager, Rebecca, is the nastiest person I ever met in my entire life. The attitude and nastiness she answers patients calls is unbelievable. Most of the time she is always nowhere to be found, though! As much as I could tell, this place might be better without her! Front desk told us there is nothing she can do, from the moment she knew the dr was running late, she could have at least offered to ask us if we would like to reschedule. I called later the same day and got one of four appointments that were available in the time frame he requested (six weeks). If I had waited a week to make an appt I never would have gotten one when it was needed. Forget about trying to get your disability paperwork completed. The doctor tells you you need to stop working, so you go to your employer and fill them in, then the paperwork never actually gets done. You continue to suffer working (cuz financially you can't just walk away from your job) while his office takes their fine old time getting it done and continues to push you off. That's okay. I can work while my brain explodes. Really, it's no problem. Please don't let me inconvenience you. No, I'm not bitter. read more

Dr. Cintron has been my neurologist since 2000. The first consultation was very thorough and he took his time to interview me. He took careful notes on my chronic neurological condition even though my illness is well controlled with medication. I see him once a year for a checkup and to get my annual prescription. I like Dr. Cintron. His medical expertise is sound and he has a stellar reputation within the medical and health care community. I give him and his service 5 stars. If it weren't for the office staff! They barely deserve 1 star. The front desk person is unfriendly and condescending. She barely says hello; her face expresses either boredom or irritation. Most of the time she is not sitting at her desk behind the glass window but is somewhere unseen. The entire staff seems either incompetent or plain lazy. Nothing gets done on time or on the first try. They ignore fax requests from the pharmacy to authorize a refill only to claim later that the fax was never received. That happens every time. Once I called to get a refill authorized. The receptionist wouldn't let me say more than 3 words and quickly transferred me but to the wrong department. I had to call back and was stuck in the loop for an extra 15 minutes. Had she not rudely cut me off in mid sentence this wouldn't have happened. Last week I went in again for a prescription including 3 refills. I specifically asked for the refills to make sure it wouldn't be forgotten. The receptionist's look could have shock-frozen a volcano. Well guess what: the order to the pharmacy did not contain any refills and I had to get back again. Same thing happened to other family members who use this doctor's office as well. Even the pharmacy I use loves Dr. Cintron but hates the office staff. Luckily, I only have to deal with them once a year and Dr. Cintron is a great doctor. If it were more often I might consider going elsewhere. read more

All I can say is thank you to Dr. Cintron and his staff. They are just the best. After almost three years of seeing other doctors and specialists for worsening symptoms, he was able to determine that I had Lymes disease. His genuine concern for me as person and interest in helping me resolve this situation has been a God Send for me and my family. His willingness and ability to "take point" in the diagnostic and treatment efforts are the reason the problem was finally identified. His honesty, humor, and "patient centric" bedside manner helped build a level of trust that kept us grounded during difficult diagnostic and treatment processes. His knowledge, willingness to consult with other physicians, and openness to talking with patients, results in a team approach to unraveling complex, long running medical problems. This builds confidence, even when things are not exactly the way you would like them to be. The friendliness and responsiveness of his staff has also made this experience as positive as it could be. Everyone in the office works very hard for you (even on nights and weekends). If more medical practices were like this one, people would have more confidence in our health care system. read more

I was four minutes late for my appointment with Dr Peters, because a police officer had the intersection at Sunrise Valley and Fairfax County Pkwy blocked. (This practice is 50 minutes from my home and office.) The doctor refused to see me because he had somewhere to go. If four minutes made that big of a difference, he probably wasn't planning on spending any time with me anyways. My original appointment was later that day but they had to reschedule to the earlier time because he had somewhere to go. I had been having very bad migraines with auras and really needed to speak with him. With that said, I was angry enough that I requested my records and told them that I, and my daughter, would not be returning to the practice. Also, he didn't seem as knowledgeable or open to new treatment options as we hoped he would be. read more

He actually came into work on a Saturday at 7am just to fit me in so I didn't have to wait for 2 months for his next opening. He is wonderful, and I highly recommend him. read more

Dr Richard Ospina is THE VERY BEST neurologist I have EVER seen, and I've seen quite a few!! Unlike most Drs, he has an outstanding bedside manner!! I was shocked the first time I went there bc you never go to an exam room first; you go to his office and TALK and he looks and you in the EYES and WANTS TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY!!! After you've thoroughly discussed your problems, symptoms, concerns, etc., then you go to an exam room and he gives you exam w/testing that is specific you. But, that to me is secondary - his immense knowledge is highly impressive!!!! I had a slight tinge of color on my tongue, which made him ask about my ancestry - he was spot on as to where and when my ancestors came to America!!!!! Who in Earth could do that?!?!? This led him to test for a very, very rare condition! No other dr had ever asked the questions he did, was as thorough as he is, not have their email address on their website so that you can reach him when you need to!!! If you have any problems: memory, tingling, shaking, pain, spine, forgetfulness, nerve disorders, THIS IS YOUR DOCTOR!!!! read more

He takes the time to understand what I'm going through, and is willing to work with me for the best outcome for my situation. Listened to my concerns - I mean, TRULY listened to me when I explained to him how other neurologists blew me off and recommended hundreds of dollars of treatments that made me worse and were also ineffective. As a migraineur for 26 years, I know my body and what does/doesn't work. Didn't dismiss the fact that I wanted a narcotic medication to save me from having to go to the ER as my 3rd and final effort to abort a migraine (after two other triptans first). I've been Dr. Cintron's patient for over five years. I'm lucky to be his patient. He and my pcp figured out what Johns Hopkins, Mayo and even NIH missed! Pretty impressive, right? That's what counts, not the staff. Dr. Cintron really really worked hard at figuring it out, and continues to!Here's why most docs have staff problems: the passage of the ACA ("Obamacare") vastly increased the manpower needed by doctors offices, ALL AT ONCE. Where were all these newly hired paper pushing geniuses gonna come from?? No where. Most are high school graduates and few have any experience in handling the vastly increased documentation demands imposed by the new laws. Instead of a staff to doc ratio of 3:1, clinicians are now dealing with needing a minimum of 6:1. Medical practices are small businesses too. What accountant needs six pencil-pushers? And now the MD makes less money by LAW. How they manage at all is a mystery and many are quitting or leaving the clinical areas of medicine instead of seeing patients. Dr. Cintron is an amazing doctor. One of the smartest and dedicated you'll ever be lucky to meet. I've never waited more than 20 minutes for him, and yes, he comes in at 6:30am, Saturdays, etc. These days it is SO hard to find even a literate doctor, and most good ones aren't taking new patients or have appointments available after 10-18 months. Don't kid yourself. Base your decision on the doctor, not the staff 'cause they change all the time anyway. You can be sure that lousy staff will be gone as soon as the MDs have replacements. Be glad the doctor is great, because most are not, and I've seen more MDs in 10 years than a whole family would see in a lifetime. Dr. Cintron ended that nightmare for me. read more

Dr. Jon Peters was recommended by my primary care doc and what a mistake it was to take that recommendation without checking healthgrades, vitals, and other ranking websites. The first appointment was disappointing... I had prepared a succinct one page summary of my neuropathy, history, symptoms, etc,... all in hopes of diagnosing the cause of the pain. He dismissed the write up and proceeded with his exam, pronouncing a likely diagnosis and required testing. Though I was disappointed he didn't take the time to review my document with me (and thus would miss stuff), I just mistakenly believed he knew best... that I should just hush and listen to the guy in the white jacket. The second appointment was incredibly frustrating. I waited 30 minutes beyond my appointment time before asking the front desk how much longer it might be. The receptionist was totally indifferent to the delay, saying I could reschedule if I wanted but he'd get to me as he could. After 30 more minutes -- and HOUR of waiting -- Dr. Peters finally came out. He said absolutely nothing about the delay. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I protested, saying common courtesy and professionalism would dictate an apology and explanation. He explained that the previous patient had a critical need and thus more time. While that may have been true, the very least he could have done -- and other, more professional practices indeed do do -- is tell waiting patients that the delay will be X minutes or hours, offering to reschedule, and apologizing profusely. No thanks, Dr. Peters... I can find excellent neurologists elsewhere in the northern Virginia / MD / DC area. read more

0. It takes multiple appointments (not informed ahead) to get nerve testing done even if you have a PPO plan and communicate that as the purpose of your visit. 1. Reception will refuse you when late no matter what the circumstances (E.g. you drove 2.5 hours and an emergency came up) and related to this is: 2. Appointments get scheduled before the phone lines become active. Good luck updating reception on the situation. 3. A physical reminder card is the most you will get that you have an appointment. I got one for the first (good enough to keep track of) and did not for the second. No text, email, call, or calendar app. 1990s level support. 4. If you have an issue with that, they won't listen to the concern and where you're coming from, it's just policy, policy, policy. You're getting charged a late fee. Devil's advocate: You could say I should use my phone to set a reminder and that's a perfect idea. Unfortunately, the vast majority of my doctors send out automated reminders and that doesn't easily register when I find one that doesn't. Because I have a certain amount of brain injury. This is not about what I could get done to make up for what's missing. read more

Dr. Peters is brilliant, caring, and attentive. He has helped us through many trying times. Lately, however, the front office and care coordinator are demonstrating HORRIBLE customer service. We have literally been there for years and this is a huge change. We had problems with a referral and have contacted the office 5 times in 2 weeks without ANY resolution. When we mentioned this we were offered an appointment!!!!!!! I was spoken to very rudely on attempt #5. I cannot imagine that the physicians are aware about this severe lack of caring from the staff. We will have to consider changing providers after years of fantastic care from Dr.Peters. read more

Man, this was absolutely an awful experience! Dr. Peters ordered full neuroloical tests. I didn't ever see him again. Instead, I saw his physician assistant. I walked into the office and he didn't even read the results before I got there! In fact, I HAD TO PROVIDE HIM THE RESULTS so he could interpret them. He spent 2 minutes GLANCING over 20 pages and said everything was OK! You've got to be kidding me. Not even 'pretending' to be prepared. On his desk was the billing form. Also, the receptionist didn't even tell me ahead of time I was going to meet with the PA. This was completely and totally the WORST experience I have EVER had at a doctors office in over 30 years. Never, ever again. Don't use this practice unless you want to see an incompetent PA. You will only see doctor once whilehe gathers your medical history. read more

I'm now out of migraine medication and out of patience with a practice that can't even be bothered to schedule my diagnostic tests! My daughter has been seeing Dr. Watkins, and I don't have any complaints with him. However, the office staff is horrible and trying to get a "human" on the phone is almost impossible. The office staff seems pretty young and they do not dress very professionally or act in a professional manner. When I asked about a prescription refill while in the office, they acted like I was a bother and wanted to me to go home and call. The front desk lady did not smile once or seem concerned about helping me at all. If it wasn't so difficult to make an appointment with a pediatric neurologist, I would find another practice. My wife did not have a good experience with this practice. She felt like the doctor she saw didn't believe her symptoms and only prescribed stuff to placate her. The experience with billing was unnerving as well. The first bill we got afterwards (took about 50 days before they sent us anything), had a bright orange sticker on it warning that our account would be turned over to a collection agency if we didn't respond in 10 days. Note this was the very first correspondence either by phone or mail that we got from them. Hopefully everyone else will have a better experience with this practice but we do not plan on going back. read more

I have been a patient here with Dr. Peters for well over ten years and thanks to him and others I haven't had a seizure in over four years. My insurance recently changed so I am now able to see him again but I am almost out of medication so I called for an appointment and his staff gave me a date of August 8th which is fine but I need ALL of my meds now and they wouldn't refill all of them because one is a controlled substance. I asked if I could speak with the Dr. so I can have my refill done before I run out of my pills tomorrow and this snooty pretentious office manager told me that my medication isn't considered to be important and I would have to go 17 days without it because the Dr. only refills prescriptions when you have an appointment. I told her I work five minutes away and I could stop by to pick up the script and still come see him in August and she told me if I don't like their policies I should find a different doctor then. Then she said ah bye bye and hung up on me. Dr. Peters your a good Dr. but your office manager is an idiot. She isn't a doctor and she has no authority to decide what is or isn't important for your patients. If you deemed it necessary for me to take a medication then your staff needs to make it their priority to make sure your patients always have access to more medication. read more

He was inconsiderate, unprofessional and very disrespectful. stuff failed to communicate with me when they should; they waisted my time by canceling my appointments and not telling me until I get to the office on the day. I have had migraines since I was a small child. Over the last three years they have become chronic and even more severe. I have been to every kind of doctor you can imagine, including pain doctors and the fabled headache clinic at Johns Hopkins. No one has been able to help, and the pain doctors were down right hostile. The whole experience was beyond nightmarish until I found Dr. Cintron. I've read the negative reviews on here about the Dr. and the staff and flat out don't believe them. Dr. Cintron has never given up on helping me, he's even worked with me on my ability to pay for treatments and his staff has been nothing but warm, comforting and helpful. Today I saw the nurse practitioner and knew I had to write a review, because she was just as amazing as Doctor Cintron himself. He even came in at the end of my visit to check in with me. This is a great team of caring health care professionals, they've done everything they could to help me and we have had success in minimizing the frequency of my headaches. If you need help with severe headache pain, I highly recommend them. I have done nothing special for this office. I walked in as a respectful, open minded patient and in return was treated respectfully. read more

I am so irritated with this office its not even funny. Let me start off by saying Dr. Peters and his nurse were awesome during my first appointment, they started me on a new medication that is actually controlling my migraines, and recommended more in depth tests. My problem is solely with the front office staff and billing department. Not only do you have to sit on hold for very lengthy amounts of time (no matter what time of day you call) but the reception staff is rude over the phone and do not seem to know how to do their job or answer basic questions. After them failing to confirm my appointment, failing to inform me I missed an appointment, and just failing to contact me in general I was told "Well. You were a no show and there is a hefty fee for missing your appointment". I could not be told what a 'hefty fee' was or why I was not contacted to confirm. I do understand that missing an appointment falls on the client but this lack of care is ridiculous. I was called the following week to confirm my recheck appointment this is absolutely a problem with their reception staff. Then when I requested to speak with someone to ask why there was no communication from this office I was told I would have to contact billing to take care of the fee. I do not recommend going here if you respect your own time or want anything handled in a timely manor. read more

My mother in-law has been going to Dr. Peters for about 10 years and he is a very good doctor who has helped her tremendously. His staff on the other hand, are the rudest, uncaring people I have ever met. We drive an hour to see Dr. Peters and the last appointment she had, we were late due to a ton of road construction on 66 and Fairfax county parkway and since her appointment was before 9 am we couldn't even call to let them know since the phones don't turn on until 9. When we got there they told her she had to reschedule (which was fine because it was our fault we were late) but the soonest they could see her was almost a month out. We made the appointment but the problem was that she was completely out of ALL of her medicine (she has multiple sclerosis so she is on more than 5 different medications). The lady at the front desk said we could pick up her prescriptions within 24 to 48 hours. We called 2 days later and we're told they would not refill ANY prescriptions until she saw the doctor because all of them were controlled substances (which we later found out that 2 of them were not). My mother in-law called every single day asking about cancellations and about getting messages to Dr. Peters about being completely cut off of medication she has been on for years and they kept saying there wasn't anything they could do because she had to see the doctor. When we finally went to the appointment, which was only one day earlier than her originally scheduled appointment, they said she would be seeing the NP. ?!?! When we told her what had happened she kept saying that it's not fair to other patients to have to wait if we were late. I tried to tell her that wasn't the point and she kept cutting me off. ( I speak to her doctors sometimes because she forgets some things she wants to say) The NP said that they ALWAYS get the messages from the girls at the front desk but when we told her she had gone almost a whole month without ANY of her meds and we almost had to take her to the hospital bc of how sick/ dehydrated she was, the NP backtracked and said that she never got that message and she would NEVER let one of her MS patients go without medicine. Funny how she gets all of the messages but never got one single message from the at least 10 she had left about being out of everything. I also asked why she wasn't seeing dr. Peters since that was the whole reason she had to wait this long and she completely ignored me. It sickens me to know that either A: the girls at the front desk are taking liberties to act as a doctor and make medical decisions and/ or B: the Nurse Practitioner lied about getting those messages. I will be calling the office manager about this and if they won't do anything then I will go to whoever I have to about the way a long term, loyal patient was treated. Dr. Peters is a great doctor but if he doesn't find better staff, he will end up losing patients left and right. read more

And yet, he's accommodated his schedule to see me in short notice by booking a Saturday 6:45 AM appointment. Absolutely terrible. Doctor was nice, but the office is unprofessional and disorganized. Waited over an 1.5 hours to be seen, was the last appointment of the day and all administrative staff had gone home. I was the only person in the entire office alone with a male physician. I was told someone would call me the following morning to schedule several tests. I did not receive a phone call. I left messages and sent an email without any reply. When I finally got through to an actual person a week later, I was told they couldn't find the doctor's paperwork and have no idea what tests to schedule and would have to wait until they have time to get the paperwork from the doctor. It has been ELEVEN days. I have never received a proactive phone call from this office. Each time I call I am told they will "try" to get the paperwork from the doctor and will call me back. They don't call back. I am filing a complaint with the Department of Health today and recommend you NEVER visit this office. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Peters for several years and have found him to be knowledgeable, professional and one of the best doctors I have seen. He recently has added a nurse practitioner and my latest appointment was with her. The staff never got me back in to see the nurse as I complained about the wait time and was their last patient. They got the nurse to write my prescription without seeing me due to the delays in seeing me. When I reviewed the prescription I saw that all my prescriptions were below the amount drl. peters has been subscribing. I brought up to the front desk the discrepancies and they were rude, told me I would run out of meds but they would not let me talk to the nurse practitioner. They also wrote zero refills and could not work me in for another appointment until after my meds will be gone. I will get very ill and explained that and they showed a lack of caring. The front office staff was just rude and uncaring. I asked them what to do and the front desk said they would talk to dr. Peters as he was out of the office and get back to me. No one has ever contacted me. I do not know as of today If I can find a dr. that will prescribe the medication needed as they will be new to my history. Test may be required. Again his staff did not seem to care if I got sick and was upset with me that I complained that I needed to get back to work. Very slow and incompetent. Why would a nurse practitioner not provide medication that her dr. supervisor had been prescribing for several years. I will be looking for all avenues to file legitimate complaints. I do not know if dr. Peters even knows if his staff is treating patients rudely and unprofessionally. This was a routine visit as I only go twice3 a year to get my meds as required. I do not recommend this office due to the staff and new nurse practitioner. read more

It has been almost a month since my 1st appointment and after 7 calls and actually going into the office I have received one piece of medical substantiation for my employer/benefits manager. The staff has sent nothing even though they have had the forms for 17 days! I am now in jeopardy of losing my job as well as having weeks of earned disability benefits payments taken from me. When I try to explain this to the customer "care" representatives, all they say is you need an appointment. I Have been seen by the Dr twice with appointments and they still say I need ANOTHER appointment to have forms filled out? DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

I made an appointment with Neuroscience Consultants against Yelp advice, never again! NC in Reston were the only ones with immediate openings for my time-frame needs; that's called 'a clue' folks. A previous reviewer suggested not to hold the physicians accountable for the unpleasant demeanor of the front desk staff, I reluctantly agreed at first but later regretted doing so. The receptionist was EVERY bit as unprofessional and rude as many other reviews stated; and the physicians DO hold responsibility for making this a positive experience and for heeding patients complaints about their medical offices. Which brings me to my next point: doctor S.Potolicchio seemed oblivious to the atmosphere there, and vastly uninterested in treating the condition at hand. He was quick to prescribe meds and rushed us out in less than 15 minutes, after we waited nearly an hour to see him. If giving a 0-star rating were possible, I would do it. I went there back in May because of 35 years of chronic migraines that seemed to be getting worse. In addition, I now suffer from occipital neuralgia, which is worse than the migraines and sometimes happens at the same time. I wanted to get Botox injections to make the migraines even semi-manageable since the neuralgia is even harder to deal with and ever present. My first appointment was May 15th. At that time they were to process the information to attain approval from insurance. After not hearing back from them by mid-June, I called back. They never even sent the paperwork to the insurance company. I had to make an a appointment for the June 21st for both my migraines and my occipital neuralgia. At that time they supposedly started the process again for the Botox for migraines approval. It is now August 18th. I have called back quite a few times and have been given different stories as to why its still in process. I've also been promised return phone calls. The return phone calls never happened. I called again today and just got off the phone with the office manager who says the information STILL has not been sent to my insurance company. I don't know if this is a doctor or staff thing, but they are the biggest bunch of do-nothing people I've ever had to deal with. People don't go to neurologists because they feel good or just have a minor cut. People go to a neurologist because there is a BAD problem. Waiting months for them to do anything at all to work toward a solution to the problem is COMPLETELY inexcusable. I will never go there again. Since it seems the process needs to start over again with the paperwork submission, I may as well start with a different neurologist office where stuff gets done. read more

Dr. Peters and his laughable staff (the most laughable being Rebecca the office manager) are the most unprofessional I have ever seen. I was a patient for 3+ years for migraine and tension headaches. It does not matter if you are the first patient of the day or the last you WILL wait 30-60 minutes past your appointment time to be seen. Messages do not reach the doctor or he ignores them and the standard line when calling the office is "I will try". That is not very comforting when seeing a neurologist. The last straw with this clown for me was when he sent me to physical therapy for 3 bulging disks in my neck and the result after my first visit was increased pain by 1000% and total numbness in my arm. A call the next day resulted in being told he could not fit me in that day which was a Friday but could see me at 5pm on Monday. These symptoms were very alarming to me but obviously not to his staff. I had my husband drive me there anyway and he demanded that I be seen. That did not go well as Rebecca the gate keeper was extremely rude to my husband and totality ignored me with tears rolling down my face in obvious pain. It was not until my husband mentioned that Peters had a responsibility to me and the damage that the physical therapy he sent me to had caused did Peters appear. It was very obvious that his only concern was a possible lawsuit not my health and welfare as he only directed his comments regarding a lawsuit to my husband and ignored me completely. This is a very dangerous doctor and I hope when my husband and I are finished with the complaint process he is held accountable.
