The previous electrician from Chesapeake Electric wanted to run 3 separate diagnostics at a cost of $630. My entire bill from Kroeger Electric was less than than the cost of their "diagnostic" before any work was done and a fraction of the $3000 they wanted to charge. Lee is no bullshit. I found Brian because my neighbor used him to re-wire an outlet for their oven and they thought he did great work and was reasonably priced. He came the day after I contacted him, measured, cut and installed a piece of wood which he secured to joists in the ceiling with a brand new light box. The light is flesh against the ceiling now and very secure. Brian was also great to text regarding the issue before even hiring. He explained what was happening and possible resolutions I could try, but ultimately the drywall was breaking and I didn't want to risk further damage. The work itself took over an hour to complete and it cost less than $200. I won't ever have to worry about the stability of my light box should I choose to change it in the future. Madden Electric practically rewired my entire house but there were a couple minor fixes plus I was…read morewanting to add some receptacles to a new deck and a whole house surge protector. Clearly, I am not in a dire situation but I have been calling and calling for months now without any response, no call back, zilch. I even say that I am a former client and that they've done a ton of work for me already. The work they did was fine and I had no problems with them personally. They were recommended by my contractor and worked together with them well. I am very disappointed.

I recently had to get some permitting issues resolved with my house (a long story that I will…read moreexplain in a future review) and one of the problems I had to deal with was that when my breaker panel was replaced in early 2010 the electrician who did the job didn't apply for a permit. I tried to just deal with the permit office myself, but it turned out that the previous electrician had a block on his license and was now unreachable so I needed a new electrician to certify my panel. Madden Electric was recommended by a couple of neighbors so I gave them a call. As I soon learned this company isn't the greatest about returning phone calls, but fortunately that's the only real issue I had with them. Once I got through to them they promptly scheduled an appointment. It was easy to schedule it at a convenient time and the electrician who came by was friendly and seemed very competent. Unfortunately my panel was not completely up to code (there was nothing unsafe about it, but the rules say it needs a secondary grounding wire that's run out to an outside rod) which meant several hundred dollars worth of work before it would pass an inspection. I wasn't happy about paying money for completely pointless work but that was the fault of the mortgage company and the city electrical code, not Madden's. The price they charged to get the work done wasn't cheap, however I know that an electrician's time is expensive and I felt their rate was fair. They took care of all the permit paperwork and scheduled an inspection. When the inspector came by my panel passed without any problems. While I wish that I hadn't had to hire them in the first place I was pleased with Madden Electric and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others for home electrical work. As I mentioned earlier the owner isn't the greatest about returning phone calls but other than that I was very happy with their work and felt that they charged reasonable prices.

But that's where the praise ends. I scheduled an appointment via email with James with an approximate time of 9am but on the day of the appointment, I did not receive any call or notification of their ETA (no confirmation email of the appointment either) so I call asking in regards to my appointment and I was told "he forgot" & that "it wasn't put into schedule" with such nonchalance that I was taken back at his unprofessional response. He tried rescheduling but I had to cancel it, with my first impression of their business leaving me a sour experience.
