The Nevada Ballet Theatre continues to do fantastic performances of The Nutcracker. The continue to find, train and retain great dancers. If you've never seen a performance, I'd highly recommend you do! It's a great group to support.

I have been taking (adult) ballet with Marcus from 10:30am-12pm five days a week for almost a year now. Marcus takes incredible care to make sure he greets each and every student every day with a hug. He emits such joy, it is obvious he genuinely loves teaching and takes great care of his students, wether they are brand new or repeat! My first class I was so nervous I took a place at the barre in the very back of the class. I had just moved from Orlando and was surrounded by NBT Company members, but Marcus still welcomed me in, asked my name, complimented me after class and encouraged me to come back. When I returned the following week, he greeted me BY NAME and I knew right then I'd found the right learning environment. Also, Marcus' class playlists are awesome! Some days are traditionally classical, but most are classically adapted Pop songs or (my personal favorite,) Broadway! Marcus' daughter usually also takes class and is an excellent resource for questions! She's always willing to do the floor combos again if someone is struggling and is quick to praise improved skillsets and technique - everyone just exudes such positive energy! When I first moved to Vegas in July ('16) I was initially taking ballet at a rival studio, but as an adult who still seeks correction and makes mistakes in class, I felt incredibly judged both the instructors and the students when I turned the wrong direction or asked a question. I am so glad to have found Marcus' class - I could never leave! During the summer, NBT's Company members are often present to stay sharp in their off-season. While intimidating, they are quite friendly and it is a luxury to watch true professionals and simultaneously try to mimic their technique. Conversely, older members of the community are also in regular attendance, taking class to stay in shape. It is considered an Int/beg Adv class, but pointe shoes and leotards are not mandatory and anyone with determination should not be deterred!

Ask the Community - Nevada Ballet Theatre

Is it true that they no longer use live music?

To the best of my knowledge that is true. Someone who plays with the orchestra told me that the ballet will no longer be using live musicians.

Located on Decatur Boulevard near Arizona Charlies, the Playhouse is a space in progress as pointed out last night by one of the company's founders. The space can be configured in any number of ways, and I look forward to seeing future shows of PRP and see how the directors choose to use the space. For the inaugural show, they are doing Lizzie the Musical, a musical about Lizzie Borden. There are four very talented women who do the roles and there ism a wonderful live band which is great! I'd recommend this theatre company to anyone. They do good work. And, I'm glad they have a home of their own, the Playhouse!

When you enter the theatre you immediately feel at home and welcomed. It's like walking into a model home that you feel like you could take your shoes off in and snuggle up on the couch, as it's really nice, clean, and sheike, but also adorned with art from past shows and an atmosphere that is full of community. The theatre company, Poor Richard's Players, that owns the theatre, always puts on quality shows that have care, talented actors, creativity, stunning and thoughtful sets, great sound, and on point tech. All their productions are professional and unassuming. And they are well known in the local theatre community as they have won Best in Fringe at the Las Vegas Fringe Festival several years in a row. Their inaugural show for the theatre, Lizzie the Musical, was very well done with a full live band, a stunning set, a fog machine, creative lighting effects, and a killer cast. Even the lobby and entrance were adorned for the show so your experience started the second you walked in the door. From what I saw, the theatre is in the style of a black box theatre, an open space area that can be manipulated to accommodate a variety of audience and stage configurations with black walls. The ceiling is a beautiful open beam ceiling with string lights that illuminate the house when needed. They have a small lobby area, ticket booth, enclosed tech booth area, and restroom. It also has green rooms, costume room, workshop room, and more. I'm excited to see future productions in this space as it's obvious a lot of thought and care goes into what they produce and everything is tastefully done.

A Life-Changing Musical Journey for Our 5-Year-Old Daughter…read more I cannot recommend Las Vegas Voice and Piano highly enough! As parents, we had absolutely no experience with music education and weren't sure what to expect when we enrolled our 5-year-old daughter just four months ago. She came in as a complete beginner--couldn't read a single note, had no concept of rhythm or counting, and had never touched a piano. Today, she's confidently playing songs independently, reading music fluently, and has developed a genuine passion for music that brings our whole family joy. From the very first lesson, Michael and Marta welcomed our entire family--my husband, our daughter, and myself--into their beautiful, professional home studio with such warmth and genuine care. They treated our daughter not just as a student, but as a young musician with unlimited potential. Their teaching approach is the perfect blend of patience, structure, and encouragement that has allowed our daughter to flourish beyond our wildest expectations. The progress we've witnessed in just four months is nothing short of extraordinary. Our daughter now reads music notation with confidence, understands rhythm and counting, knows all the piano keys by heart, and can play most songs completely on her own. Watching her sit at the piano and work through pieces independently--something that seemed impossible just a few months ago--brings tears to my eyes. Her technical foundation is remarkably solid for such a young beginner, which speaks volumes about the quality of instruction she's receiving. One of the proudest moments of our lives was watching her perform in her first recital. The confidence she displayed on stage, the poise in her playing, and the pure joy on her face throughout her performance--that was all thanks to Michael and Marta's nurturing guidance and belief in her abilities. They prepared her not just musically, but emotionally, helping her feel ready and excited rather than nervous. What truly sets this studio apart is Michael and Marta's teaching philosophy. They are incredibly patient, never rushing through concepts but ensuring our daughter truly understands each element before moving forward. They're steady and consistent, providing the structure that young learners need while making each lesson engaging and fun. Most importantly, they're genuinely encouraging--celebrating every achievement, no matter how small, and turning mistakes into learning opportunities rather than sources of frustration. We've watched our daughter blossom before our eyes in ways that extend far beyond music. Her confidence has soared, her focus and discipline have improved, and she's discovered a creative outlet that she truly loves. She now asks to practice daily and gets excited about her weekly lessons. This transformation in such a short time is honestly incredible and is a testament to Michael and Marta's exceptional teaching abilities. If you're looking for music instruction for your child--whether they're a complete beginner like ours was or have some experience--Las Vegas Voice and Piano is the perfect choice. Michael and Marta's dedication, expertise, and genuine love for teaching create an environment where children don't just learn music; they develop a lifelong appreciation for it. Thank you, Michael and Marta, from the bottom of our hearts. You've given our daughter an invaluable gift that she'll carry with her throughout her life. We're so grateful to have found you and look forward to many more years of musical growth under your guidance!

The concession setup is quick and it's easy to get what you want and then pay at the end. It kind of feels like a buffet line, which makes things move fast. There's a good variety of snacks, but we usually get the classics like a big bucket of popcorn and nachos with jalapeños. The jalapeños come in a packaged bag and there's always plenty. The lounge recliners are comfortable and we love the swing tray tables that come with them. The seats also have heat settings. The temperature overall felt comfortable and I usually run cold (my average temperature is always 97.7°F).  I was in jeans and a t-shirt and also didn't ever feel the ac blasting. I thought it would be since it's been getting warmer/hot out lately. I was in stadium 10, middle of row J, and noticed one of the tray tables was a bit worn down compared to the others. It still worked fine, but parts of it were peeling and I could see how it might scrape someone depending on how they sit or move. It stood out since everything else I've used there has always been in great condition. The bathrooms are clean, which I appreciate, but I do wish they had more kid friendly options like lower sinks or soap dispensers. Even having a small swing step stool under the sinks (I've seen them in other locations around here for restaurants) available would help. It's a family oriented place, so that seems like something that could really make a difference. Not every parent can lift their child up, especially if they're dealing with an injury or holding another baby or other items. I also wish there were sanitizing wipes available again, either at the entrance or somewhere inside the theater near the steps. Overall, this is still our go to theater for family movie days.

I am an intermediate-level adult looking to get back into piano. Long story short, Juliana gave me a free trial and I was really impressed by her attention to detail and philosophy. She assigned me a Bach invention I've been wanting to learn and I drilled hours in anticipation for the next lesson - to the point where I could play with both hands simultaneously with respectable pace and form. I was advised to purchase two other piano books for our next lesson - which I did. She told me she would text me when it's time to schedule our next lesson. And I never heard back. Despite informing her that I bought these books & practiced Invention No. 8 as if my life depended on it. Here's the thing. This studio has a great track record with children first learning to play. But throughout my conversations with her, I had this feeling that she prioritized them first. Which is fine, but that means there's hardly any room for us adults. That's precisely why I wasn't surprised at all that she never reached back. She seems like such a phenomenal teacher for kids. Even if you spend 15 hours a week learning repertoire for her, she may simply not have the time for you - don't be sad if the door metaphorically closes on ya.

My reply to her insane and completely unprofessional and incorrect assessment: "Hi, I saw your messages, and I've decided not to move forward. I'm not comfortable sharing personal information or photos of my child (doesn't seem appropriate or professional), and I prefer a different approach when it comes to piano instruction. Thank you for understanding" Her reply back to me...condescending, rude and validated my instincts that she's not a good fit and frankly unbelievable - this is a 5 year old after all that we only want to learn the appreciation of music: "No problem ! If you are not feeling comfortable that's fine. You can try to reach out other teachers. Or wait until he is older. I have several young beginners who started with me at age near 5, they are bigger in size and talk a lot ! They are all girls, very smart and love to play piano.
