1 star. I would not recommend this studio. To be clear, this is not a reflection of the teachers. This is about ownership and how situations are handled at the top. Our experience felt incredibly unprofessional, one-sided, and dismissive. As a family who had been part of this studio for 7 years, we expected fairness, accountability, and basic care for our child. Instead, we were left feeling completely unsupported during a situation that should have been handled very differently. The way it was handled had a clear negative impact on my child's confidence and emotional well-being. Watching her go from loving dance to feeling discouraged and questioning herself was heartbreaking. After many years of loyalty, this experience was extremely disappointing. No child should leave an activity they love feeling this way. As a long-time parent, I would encourage others to read reviews carefully and consider a range of experiences when making their decision. You don't walk away after 7 years without a very good reason. read more

This dance studio is all about the money when my family had a family member with cancer and was unable to attend classes requested not be penalized or charged for the month director Blake was the most uncompasstionate person...he insisted that if my dancer wanted to continue being at the studio I had to pay whether she could attend or not.. They want to be considered a family studio absolutely nor true...pay your fees...your registration your costume fees no matter what.... cancer and ending in death Blake bunker could care less ...pay your money!!! I started bringing my 4 year old to dance classes, she is in the musical movement class. It's been a month and so far so good, this class performs in June at the Smiths Center so I'm excited about that. Not all classes perform. She is in Ms. Ashley's class. She is very sweet, patient and makes the class fun for the kids. The class lasts 45 minutes. All the staff is very attentive, professional and helpful. The study always tries to incorporate different activities, for example, I think one time per year they can bring a friend or family same age for free to their class, or have parents join the class or meet up outside of dance studio, like Gilcrease Orchard, if it's optional. We used to go to a different studio and my 4 year old with the class would always get yelled at for not knowing the steps to perfection. So I'm staying here :) read more

This is the 2nd year that my daughters are enrolled at Bunker Dance Center. Last year I had one in Ballet and one in a ballet/tap combo class. The teachers are all very approachable and friendly to the kids. Some of the teachers were students at the school when they were younger. What I love about Bunker is that every June they have an amazing totally professional dance concert featuring the school's dancers. It is also a family ran business. What I don't particularly care for is that fact that they accept new students up until March of the same year that the concerts are held. My youngest was in a class last year that started out with 9 kids. They each practiced very hard each week to master the routines they were being taught. Then comes March and 10 more kids joined the class. Most of the 10 kids that joined late could have really used extra practice because they weren't familiar with the routines at all. It was annoying to see the teachers have to spend extra time with the new kids struggling to figure out the movements. One of the parents told me she joins late every year to save money from having to pay when the classes start in August. :( Overall I think the class prices ($45 a month for a weekly class) are very reasonable and my kids have fun here while getting a great workout. read more

We just started classes here. The woman at the front desk was the most helpful person I have come across in a long time. Service with a smile, answered all my questions about the studio's policies and extremely knowledgeable about how things run. It made registering for classes such an easy experience. There is a wide range of dance classes offered. The studios are clean and good size spaces. My kids had their first class today in hip hop! Both kids really enjoyed themselves. Very clean atmosphere, and the company replied quickly to all my initial questions via email. My Daughter, Zoey, just started her first Musical Movement Class last week and loved it! She was a bit shy the first 15 minutes which is unusual for her, however, the teacher made her feel comfortable and she enjoyed the rest of the class! Zoey told me she is excited to go again! First days experience didn't go too well. Arrived 5min before my daughter's class time yet wasn't directed where to go until 10 MINS AFTER class start. The male at the counter didn't greet nor acknowledge anyone coming or going. He took a call and was on the phone for a long time. Someone was already waiting AT the counter waiting to speak with him and she had to wait forever while he never looked up and greeted her yet alone apologized for the long wait. After was seemed like an eternity, he finally instructed us to walk out and down the hall a little to her class. As if my opinion wasn't set already by the first encounter... watching my daughter do stretching in basically 100 different ways for 20 of the 45 min class was even worse. I heard 30 seconds of music 25 mins in following by lining up and skipping across the room. Throughout the 45min class, I heard 30 second intervals of music MAYBE 6X. Praying things get a bit more active!!! read more

Been coming and taking my kids to bunker for years. I have loved most of the teachers and the overall experience. But it's way overcrowded. The classes are packed and the actual studio is completely crowded and uncomfortable. I think the skills being taught to the kids would improve a lot more if there weren't so many kids for one teacher, makes teaching and learning and invaluable experience. And bigger studio space and seating for parents who spend a lot of money and time in these places. The window is so tiny and parents stand right in front of it so the other 15 parents can't see their children. Unfortunately there isn't many other dance centers in the valley, although I've noticed more are coming. Best classes are the toddler and pre-K chases held during the day. And team. Other than that, it's not really a valuable learning experience. Unless you spend $$. read more

Our daughter has been attending Bunker Dance since she was a preschooler. She started off in ballet and tap (which were fantastic programs) but as she got older she gravitated more towards the Ovation Theater program. She will be attending high school next year and she still loves her theater group. Miss Katie is an extremely talented and dedicated teacher who has kept all of our kids focused and excited about the stage. Throughout the years, our daughter has improved greatly as a singer, dancer, and actor. Sometimes the truth hurts. I have read all of the reviews for Bunker Dance and I agree with both the positive and negative comments. I've seen it many times before when a business becomes "comfortable " with their results and allows quality to creep away. Quality technical Skill development has suffered due to high turnover of instructors. Just because you've had great teachers in the past doesn't excuse you from the present and the paying customer who has the expectations of quality. The recitals are well organized, and that is a definite plus! The photographer is a complete amateur, his pictures are very low quality and his staff is confused about the difference between video and stills. I've attempted to purchase pictures every year with the hope that perhaps he may figure it out however we receive blurry, often obstructed shots with other kids in the way. Don't waste your money here. A new photographer with much higher skill needs to be hired. The current photographer sits on a chair and never moves. Long story short, the Bunkers need to face reality and stop attacking the critics for giving honest feedback and make the necessary changes to stop living in the past and get a grip on the current state of things and focus on the future! read more

This place is only interested in your money and could careless about the people that keep showing up to keep them in business. Plan on joining a team, then plan of giving them full access to your bank account. They will require you to pay for all of June, but will teach classed until the middle of June. That's after you have paid for all of December, but only get to dance half the month. Competitions fees are one thing, but then they add an obscene $40 "admin fee" to every dancer for each and every competition. Solos/Duos/Trios are charged the same ridiculous $40 fee after you just paid that for the team "admin fee". Let's do some math, 15 dancers on one team each pay the "admin fee" for one competition comes to $600. That one team goes to three competitions so that's now $1,800. $1800 in "admin fees" for just ONE team and that doesn't even cover the "admin fees" for any nationals or solos/duos/trios. My daughter went to another studio to dance and she was so far behind in technique, because this studio can't hire and keep decent teachers. Technique classes are sacrificed for choreography since they don't have the ability to complete choreography in a timely manner. Save yourself and your child the heartache of going to Bunker and go to a studio where they care about ALL the dancers and not just their company dancers. Bunker is just plain ignorant when it comes to actual customer service. They should be ashamed of themselves!!! read more

Canceled my daughter's class and rescheduled twice, then, giving me less than 24 hr notice, tried to reschedule me again but it wasn't enough notice. Now, I have to try and get my registration money back from the class since it's not refundable yet had I known that they were going to keep moving classes around (which I know sometimes happens) I wouldn't have signed up with them. I just hate being called at 4 pm and asked if I can start class for my daughter at 9:30 the next day. Definately will not be going back. read more

The relationships she has made and the confidence she's gained while learning to be the amazing dancer she is today is priceless. This was our first full year at Bunker and I must say I am very disappointed. I can no longer stay with a company who's only focus is on their teen ensemble groups. The companies lack of communication not notifying the parents that their child will have several different dance teachers is unacceptable. This information should be given when a new person signs up giving them the option to chose if they wish to sign up or not. But what's so disappointing is when you have teachers trying to scare respect from the dancers by telling them she has been knowing Kathy for over 25 years. That's not a way to gain respect.
