Dr Meiri is pleasant and competent. But not really honest. I went for a skin cancer screening. This is the second time I've been to this office; the first was two years ago. Dr Meiri identified a couple pre-cancerous spots on my nose and another suspicious red spot on my back. Both required a return for treatment after insurance pre-approval. I asked for my after visit report (they don't offer it as a matter of course but you can get one if you ask). On it, she indicated seeing five other things that she never mentioned to me, but the report said that she had discussed them. There was a whole list of things under "Patient Q&A" of which we only went through about half of them. When I returned for treatment, Dr Meiri and the two assistants were in an awful rush. I forgot to request an after visit report for that, but I'll bet it too mentions a lot of things that did not actually happen. I'll probably return to this practice despite the dishonesty because the other guys are even worse. read more

They over biopsied me when asking to check a few things. If you have a Mohs procedure, they will definitely tell you that they didn't get all cells the first round, but miraculously get it second round. I say this because there were 4 of us in office for Mohs procedure and were all called back for second. Upon reviewing my bill, they bill for both surgeries so definitely done for profit. The assistant told me she was hired right out of high school. She told me not to shower with my Mohs surgery on leg because Vag juice could infect it. Very untrue and unprofessional. read more

This place sucks. So many issues with this place but one of the worst is the front desk. Thats how you know you're screwed, it only gets worse from there. God forbid you have to pick up their in house prescription gel because they only give it to you on certain days and between certain hours and even if you have previously called to have the rx ready and you are a few minutes late, well you're just gonna have to drive back again some other day. They don't care if you have a 45-50 min drive. No you cant have our secret lotion, a Dr has to be on site in case you drink it or fill a syringe and shoot it in your eyeball. Completely ridiculous. With each of my visits, I have found the staff to be friendly, and able to answer any/all questions that I may have had. I have been a patient of Dr. Lamerson for a little over a year now and have found myself to be very relaxed in her presence even when getting biopsies done. She is very direct in her assessment and will ask, what I felt to be, very precise questions to get the answers she needed to complete the assessment. I felt that she listened to everything that I had to say to here and that she understood the situation. You make an appointment for Dr. Lamerson, you get there and someone you have no idea who they are walks in the exam room, you never see Dr. Lamerson. We have been there several times and have never seen her! Then they do an exam and point out what needs to be done... NEXT time you come in!!! They refuse to do anything other than look at you and tell you what needs to be done. The second time you go in they do a biopsy and send you home rather than remove the problem (sometimes it take 3 or 4 weeks or more to get back in after you find out it's a serious problem) and you have to go back yet a third time to get the problem taken care of! This costs you 3 (three) co-pays and changes you and your insurance 3 (three) charges instead of 1 (one)! What a racket! Plus you have to wait forever many times, but you better not be late! I scheduled an appointment to look at some specific spots on my leg and foot that I was concerned about and they were able to get me in relatively quickly (2.5 months after the call but for dermatology offices, that's really not bad at all). I also scheduled my first annual mole/skin check with them, which was about 4 months after the call (also standard in my experience). I checked in and was able to see NP-C Ashley Vazeen. She determined one spot was not a concern, which she demonstrated by manipulating it some and telling me why it was not a concern. The other one she said she didn't like and said we should biopsy it. Saying I'm a massive wimp when it comes to pain and needles would be an understatement, so I became very nervous about the biopsy. They gave me some numbing cream to apply before the appt, which made me feel a bit better! The day of the appt I was so nervous, so Maria (in-take tech? if that's the right term) was sure to walk me through everything that was happening. I told her I'll probably be lightheaded after the needle so I asked her to give me all the aftercare info upfront, which she did thoroughly. She also gave me a paper slip with care info and come cream to use for future use. True to form I nearly fainted (not because of Maria, because I'm a wimp). She gave me an ice pack and asked if I need water, to lay back, or anything else. I assured her I was just pathetic but thanked her for the offer. Ashley came in a little while later. Since I can't lie she could see the worry on my face and assured me the hard part was over. She was right - felt no pain and it took her less than 2 minutes to remove the spot, apply cream, and bandage me up. She said I should expect a call for results in a week or two and then we'd take it from there. She didn't have to but she assured me I did great and gave me a very nice hug. No one tried sell me on other services. I felt safe and seen and taken care of. Looking forward to this office and NP-C Vazeen being my go-to for all my dermatology needs! read more

My primary care physician referred me here after trying to resolve my atopic dermatitis for many months without luck. I have never had any skin problems so this was a new experience for me. I was treated by Ashley and Christina. I was very impressed with how they got down to business without a bunch of humming and hawing. They just dove in and inspected, prodded and scraped just about every affected spot I had. While she did not know exactly what was causing my problem, Ashley asked a hundred questions clearly designed to identify possible irritants--from household products and clothing to food and allergies. She took the time to examine a sample under the microscope and get an opinion from another doctor in the office about my skin. I felt like she was really trying to dial in on what is causing my problem and what she could do to fix it. I did not feel at all rushed, I had significant face time with Ashley and Christina wrote down very specific instructions on what, when and how to apply the medications and topical cream I was prescribed and she made sure I understood everything as I was checking out. I was in and out in about 45 minutes. All around great care. The office texted me twice reminding me of my appointment and giving me directions to wait in my car and call when I arrived to check in. I only waited about five minutes before being called in. The office was clearly using covid prevention measures--masks, hand sanitizer, plexiglass dividers and no waiting room use. I left feeling encouraged that whether this treatment works or not, Ashley will find the one that does, she definitely instilled confidence in me. Ashley Vazeen is AMAZING! I called to make appointments for my husband and I. We were able to get two 15-minute slots back to back. First off all, we arrived early and expected to wait in our vehicle. No - they got us in immediately. Secondly, I thought we were there for consults - I had a lump on my face and my husband had a wart that was bothering him. Ashley came in, looked at my problem and immediately got to work getting rid of it! She, along with her assistant, were very friendly and kept me informed of what was going on. I walked out of there without the lump! She also took care of my husband's wart! They sent the culture and biopsy to a lab and we got a call the next week saying the results were negative. I would most definitely go back to this clinic and ask to be seen by Ashley!! read more

The scheduling leaves a lot to be desired. I was called to reschedule a MOH's procedure and told the caller, "let me get my schedule book so that I have the correct date and time." I was told, "2:30pm" on a certain date. On the morning of the appointment, I get a call at 9AM asking me "why aren't you here?" I drove there asap and Dr. Lamerson asked me if I had gotten a "reminder call." No, I did not. I told her I wrote it the date and time down as her office spoke to me at scheduling. The first time I saw Dr. Casse (December 2011) she took biopsies and found a pre-stage melanoma on my back. We scheduled and she removed it, and I was very happy with the results and recovery. If I were to review on this visit alone I would give them five stars. However, since that visit my review would score a single star. Since my first visit and procedures, it was suggested that I schedule skin checks every three months, which I held faithfully. Every three months I booked, so over the course of the following 18 months I was there at least 6 times. I didn't remember why I tapered off the frequency, although now I do remember. Incredible and ridiculous wait time for appointments annoy me. When I book an appointment, I expect to be seen at least CLOSE to the scheduled time. Instead I usually wait a minimum of thirty minutes, often up to an hour. My husband was in earlier this month (maybe in June even) and he waited over an hour from the time of his appointment before he was seen. Remembering his experience, for today's appointment I blocked out a full three hours My appointment was at noon. I arrived about 15 minutes early and completed the (new) online paperless patient record and was ready in time for my 12:00 appointment. At 12:30 I overheard two other patients visiting with each other. Apparently each of them had appointments at 11:30, a full hour previous, and yet they were still waiting to be seen. Double booked for the same time. And an hour later they're still waiting. I decided that my time is worth more to me than to sit in the waiting room being irritated. So I decided to log into Yelp and VENT - and look for another dermatologist. read more

I used to go in when I was in high school for acne and like other users must have blocked out the ridiculously long waiting time. I got a sebaceous cyst this year and decided to see a dermatologist instead of my regular doctor. When making my apt. They said I could most likely have the problem taken care of in 1 visit so I agreed to the month and a half out it would take to see me. In total I waited an hour just to be told I'd have to schedule another apt. To have it taken care of. I will be going to my regular doctor for this issue at least the longest I wait there is 5 min. If you have an hour or two to kill at the doctors office they're probably not bad but my experience was definitely skewed by being so irritated at the long wait. read more

Went to see my family doctor about an issue with a spot on my forehead that I was concerned about. He looked at it and told me what it was and that it wasn't a precursor to cancer, but if I wanted to have it evaluated he would refer me to a great dermatology office. I haven't treated my skin very well in all my years in the sun running. I made the appointment and was seen by Ashley Vazeen. At first I thought I was being rushed through. Being the talker and question asker that I am we established a constructive and educational dialogue. This is my first experience having a full body dermatologic scan and in the course of my visit I calmed down and felt very comfortable with the process. She thoroughly explained the process and answered any/all questions that I had. She scheduled me to come back in two days to have biopsies taken. I was a little anxious and they were very busy on my return visit, but the wait was minimal. Kristina administered the deadening shots to me in the three areas that were being evaluated and told me they might sting. One shot did sting a bit, but absolutely tolerable, but the other two were just fine. Ashley with the assistance of Kristina took the biopsies and removed a good sized skin tag in a very delicate area of my body that I was very concerned about. It went great as I didn't feel a thing and the dialogue with them relieved my anxiety. I was extremely satisfied with the level of professionalism and treatment. I left feeling that I was in great hands of trained professionals. Should any other issues arise, I will not thing twice about coming back to Nevada Center for Dermatology. read more

If you expect to be treated with dignity and respect you might want to stay away from the Nevada Center for Dermatology, especially if you are a man. At the end of my full body skin examination, I am laying on an examination table naked from the waist down. The fact that a nurse practitioner is examining me doesn't bother me at all. What is bothering me is those two other women sitting at my feet just watching. What are they doing there? All I can think about is, "don't embarrass yourself, don't get an erection". Afterwards, I wrote and said, "In summary, if you need a patient for medical education, I will be honored to cooperate, but please inform me beforehand. They responded, "We can assist you in finding a provider in town that can hopefully better meet your needs." Insulting the patient is acceptable nowhere! read more

Don't know what's up with my luck, but I'm 0 for 2 with dermatologist here in Reno. Last one stuck me in an exam room for 30 mins, then came barging in with an awkward med student in tow, hastily looked me over for literally 15 seconds, then gave me an "all clear", rushed out the door and left me standing there in my skivvies saying "ah, what the hell was that?" With this one, they at least gave me the option of having, or not having, the awkward med student. But then they stuck me in an exam room, had me strip to my skivvies and left me there. And there I waited... and waited... and waited... and waited... for an HOUR with not so much as a word from the doctor or staff. How long were they going to leave me languishing in solitary confinement? I have no idea, because I put my clothes back on and got the hell out of there. I can't afford to be missing work and meetings just to sit in an empty room playing Angry Birds for hours on end. It's too bad because my wife had a good experience with the doctor--but we won't be back. read more

$210 for an awful 20 minute consult! I went in for help with my dehyrated skin that was also breaking out. I expressed my concerns to the nurse practitioner, Ashley. She was kind enough to inspect my skin. She told another young lady in the room all the products she recommended for me but never explained any to me. I told her over and over that I cannot use drying products or my skin gets worse. I find out they want me to buy 7 products (4 of which are medical grade harsh acne products) that I can't even return?? Thank goodness the lady at the front desk gave me samples instead. In the end, none of the samples even worked out for me. They gave me (acne prone skin) moisturizer with petroleum in it which made my skin worse. Do no recommend! read more

I really want to like this place. Clean, friendly staff, etc. However, I echo some of the concerns expressed in other reviews here. This morning I had an appointment at 9:30am to have some precancerous growth removed from my back. Yesterday, their office called and asked that I come in at 9:15am to allow for the anethesia time to numb the area in question. I dutifully arrived at 9:10am. I then sat in the empty waiting room until 9:30am when I was invited in to the procedure room. No big deal. I then sat another 25 minutes until the assistant came in and gave me the shots. From there things went along fine. I make appointments in the am at doctor's offices so I might avoid the long waits. I am a professional, my time is valuable. Don't ask me to come in early and then make me wait for no apparent reason. Otherwise no complaints about this place, seems a problem worth fixing! read more

I've read with amusement some of the "reviews" of Sierra Dermatology and think that some are written without much thought. I've been through a stem cell transplant, pacemaker implant (and removal), heart transplant and two hip replacements, just to name a few issues. I take anti rejection drugs and am very concerned about the reduced immune system and skin cancer. I have been seeing Dr. Lamerson and staff there for years, and have suffered some of those waits. I have also caused a few, because when they start with a procedure they never know what else might arise. Sometimes the times overlap. If you are the patient it's great but if you're waiting it's frustrating. So what? When you have the issue, you wouldn't be too pleased if the Drs. were treating you but had to stop helping you because others were waiting. I believe that Sierra Dermatology does a great job and provides a comfortable and friendly service. I think they regularly save my life. Be patient and be glad you're there. Nobody, even Doctors, are perfect. But I'm sure glad they're there. read more

Wait time- I did have to wait longer than I was expecting due to the doctors running late. I wasn't mad or upset by it though because I was told in advance. Patients are seen even if they run late so don't just blame the doctors for running late, its US as patients as well! Once I was seen everything went very fast and smooth. My appointment was at the end of the day so I did feel a little rushed and that Dr. Casse was making up for lost time. Even with the sense of urgency Dr. Casse was great and you can tell she knows her stuff. She addressed all my skin concerns quickly, and removed my 2 warts in record time! I don't mind feeling a bit rushed because along with the doctors, I have places to be! They prescribed me two creams for my face, both of which they knew could be expensive so they gave me coupons/told me how to get coupons online and lots of samples! I will recommend Dr. Casse and this office to anyone, I would just recommend you call before your app. and see the wait time. read more

I have a family history of skin cancer so I went in for a couple moles that I wanted checked. I literally waited months for this appointment and I was so horrified by my experience that I will never return. I saw the rude nurse practitioner Ashley who was less concerned about my moles and my questions and more concerned with my "acne problem" after seeing a pimple on me at my visit. I'm 31 and very rarely get pimples, so this wasn't a concern of mine or a reason for my visit. I didn't even ask about acne, but she very abrasively demanded to know what I planned on doing about my acne. I could hardly believe how offensive she was as she shamed me for what she believed was a lack of skin care - all while I'm sitting naked and vulnerable on the table. She was very pushy and demanding in trying to sell me a $50 face wash for this acne problem that I don't believe I have. She even went as far as calling in a prescription for acne medication to some mail order pharmacy in TX without my consent, and they've been calling and texting me all day - I did not give her permission to share my information with them but she did. Like I said, I don't have an acne problem but if I did, she could have addressed in a professional manner, perhaps kindly asking if I wanted to discuss any acne solutions. I will never return this office even if it were the last dermatologist office on earth. Do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs. read more

I've actually seen all 3 providers in this practice and they are all amazing. They all spent time with me and I felt like they actually gave me answers to my questions. I have had botox and filler and everything I've had done has exceeded my expectations. Dr. Lamerson is AMAZING at lips. If you don't want to look over-done or fake, see her! They didn't try to up sell me or talk me out of what I wanted. Dr. Lamerson did exactly what I asked for and I love my results. The prices may be higher than all those med spas, but I've had friends that got pretty messed up going to med spas so I choose an M.D. every time. I have been thinking about laser hair removal for my legs for awhile, so I got a consult. The price was very comparable. They have a new laser and I had results after ONE treatment!! I am an every day shaver, and after my first treatment I could go 2 days. I had my 2nd treatment 4 weeks later and now I can go 4 days with no shaving! I am so impressed and happy already. I was also expecting it to be really painful, but it really wasn't! I don't have a high pain tolerance at all, and I could've read a book while she was doing it. Melissa is the laser tech and she is super professional and personable. She really made me feel comfortable. I have had mostly cosmetic services at this office, but when I had a full skin check by Dr. Casse I was very impressed with how thorough she was. She even checked my scalp and in between my toes! I needed a few biopsies and they were able to get me in right away. I saw Ashley for those and she did an amazing job. They all seem like genuinely NICE people. read more
