This is something I've wanted to try for a long time but never got around to doing. I'm also terrified of heights, so this was definitely a challenge for me! The facility is a little hidden, but once you find it, it's surprisingly large and unique. When we visited, they were hosting an event with music and food, which made the experience even more fun. One thing I really appreciated is that there's no time limit once you pay, so you can climb at your own pace. They provide climbing shoes if you don't have your own. The shoes fit very snug, so I'd recommend sizing up if possible. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Before climbing the taller walls, they explained how to use the automatic rope including how to properly clip in and unclip. There are also climbing areas where you don't need to be attached to a rope because the floors are covered with large padded cushions, making falls much softer and less intimidating. Another highlight was the two emotional support dogs that wander around the establishment. They were adorable, friendly, and definitely added to the welcoming atmosphere. My kids and I had such a great time rock climbing. Honestly, we never thought this would be something we'd want to continue doing, but after this experience, we're already talking about becoming members. So fun! The staff was helpful and friendly. It cost $32 for my 3 yr old son and I to climb plus another $17 for equipment. Not bad i guess. There were plenty of places to climb. It wasn't super crowded at 10am on a Wednesday. It did get a little warm towards noon but they're huge fans everywhere. I've been to NCC twice and I absolutely love it! I came here over Thanksgiving weekend with the family and we all had a blast. I think my entire bill for six people with harnesses and shoes was about $150 which is a great deal. On a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't that busy and there was a lot of climbing and bouldering space available. I love that everybody is very polite and courteous and if you need help with anything they are more than happy to help. For example, my nephew forgot to hook the rope back onto the flag that's attached to the floor and a guy that was ready to climb that area hopped on the rope and got it for us. I think he was a regular there and he was very happy to help us, seeing that some of us for newbies. Overall, I think that Nevada Climbing Center is one of the best indoor climbing gyms I've ever been to and I highly recommend it! read more

The layout of NCC is exquisite - the routes challenge you in different sequences, the configuration of the walls add to building experience, and the workers are all very helpful! I like that the routes provided are all so versatile and some challenge me more than others - which helps w training before challenging a higher grade. I do find the grading to be different compared to other gym - every route that I have climbed so far - ranging from 8-10d - have shown me the importance of every single move & mapping out my sequence when I take. I appreciate all of the hard work of the climbers/workers at this gym and the environment is very beginner friendly as well as invigorating for any seasoned climber!:) read more

This is only my second time at a rock climbing gym and i remember why I loved it so much. Climbing to the top is such a sense of accomplishment, though the drop down can be a bit scary. The gym is very clean, has friendly and knowledgeable staff, and many different variations of rock formations and paths. There are about 3-4 auto belays - for those climbing alone. Occasionally, you can see acrobatic performers practicing there also. read more

They do have different levels for your comfortability, It's a small place but has a lot to offer. There's an area for your shoes and personal items as well as they sell snacks and drinks. I highly recommend Nevada climbing center to anyone ranging from beginner to expert level! You can expect climbs that will help push you to new levels, but it doesn't stop there because I want to emphasize the community feeling that NCC has created. The people have been great and the staff/owners are extremely experienced and have been wonderful (shout out to Lyra, Pablo, and Ryan!). As long as you're not afraid to ask, the staff will help you when they have the time. I want to give a personal shout out to Zac and Sadie, (who either patrol around or are behind the front desk) who have helped me countless times with the many questions I have asked, and have actually helped me push myself to become a much better climber!! We went to try this venue with our Pogo Pass. First thing is there is NO AIR CONDITIONING! How in Vegas do you not have AC? It was miserable with small kids. It's dirty and there's only 3 options for beginners. Definitely would not recommend for kids younger than 10. Regular tickets are $18 and rentals were $8 for shoes and a harness. Visited this gym for the first time today after The Pad closing down. I learned that there's a new owner and he's pretty knowledgeable, friendly, and super helpful. This gym provides a small workout/weight area, a yoga room, a couple campus and hang boards. There is bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing. Also, there are bathrooms but no showers. Only downside, is a small gym so not sure how crowded it gets in here. Parking is also minimal. read more

So we came in as new rock climbers, with no experience, and were hanging low on the rocks trying to figure out how to be safe and not get hurt. Obviously we were doing something wrong, first time and all.. Wow! This place is just too fun. I was so lucky to have a friend who actually knows how to rock climb. I was a complete noob. When he was literally "showing me the ropes," I didn't have a clue what kind of words he was using, like I didn't know what 'belaying' meant. I've never heard of "bouldering" before. That's how you know I really am a noob here. LOL When we got there, I went in for free since he has a membership that allows him to bring 1 guest. I signed a waiver and paid $8 to rent a harness and climbing shoes since I didn't have the gear. We put our personal items in little cubbies, strapped on our harnesses, and put on our climbing shoes. My friend told me that climbing shoes are supposed to feel tight because you're supposed to use the edge and tip of the shoe. Then, he showed me the basics of top rope climbing. After a while, I got the hang of things. He taught me the different types of grips, what the ratings on the wall meant (ex. V0 or 5.7/5.8/5.10 etc), how to belay properly and so much more. You can also do slacklining or bouldering. You can climb a rope (personally, I couldn't do it anymore because my hands were hurting after a while.) There's even a little gym in the corner where you can practice your grip or work on your strength. Overall, it was such a blast! I loved every minute of it because it felt so adventurous. When I was there, there were quite a lot of people, so I would just say to try your best to social distance, and remember to wash your hands when you leave since you'll be touching a lot of things. :) read more

This gym is amazing with very friendly staff! The bouldering section is small but offers a wide variety of Bouder problems. The TR and AB climes are fun and have lots of each difficulty. The lead area is by far the best in the area. It has many routes with creative volumes and a steep overhang. Quickdraws are already planned out on the wall resulting in less gear needed when coming to the gym. This gym also has a brand-new drinking fountain to help with better hydration. This gym is located in the center of Las Vegas, accessible to everyone with it cheap prices and a steal of a membership. read more

The boulder routes were very hard to figure out. We live in California and frequently go to Hanger 18 that has very clear routes. The staff was friendly. The top rope routes were good and we spent our time on those. read more

Love the climbs and the staff were really friendly. One thing I really didn't like though was being barked at by a really big dog when I came in, it didn't feel exactly welcoming. The whole reception area looked really messy and the toilets needed a good clean. Overall the place has great potential, it just needs to get the basics right. read more

Visited here because they offered a Groupon for a $10 day pass, including shoes, but not a chalk bag. (I noticed this was the norm for the gyms in Vegas, which I found odd because Reno gyms combine the shoe and chalk bag rental.) Thanks to Yelp, I was able to get a free chalk bag rental simply by checking in. As you can see from the rating, I wasn't a fan of this gym. The rental shoes were so so smelly, it distracted me my entire climbing session. I took them off every chance I got. If you're planning on renting shoes for your climbing session, do not come here. In addition, I found the staff to be unwelcoming. I'm not saying you have to smile at your job, but if every staff member looks at you with a dead pan face and speaks to you with a monotone voice, customers will feel unwelcome. The gym itself was smaller than I expected. I will say it definitely looked like the second oldest climbing gym in Las Vegas, a title found on their website. The gym seemed a bit dated, but when it comes to climbing, it's the routes that matter the most. Note- I only climbed the boulders. I did not do any top or lead climbing. (At the time I visited, they were redoing the lead wall so no one was lead climbing. ) I found how they marked the routes difficult to see, and thus annoying to climb. I am used to having routes indicated by colored tape at the start and finish, with each hold being the same color. Here, all the holds are different colors and instead indicated by patterned tape. Most holds had several patterned tapes, indicating it belongs to multiple routes. Some of the tapes were falling off, making it even more difficult to discern the correct path to climb. In addition, some of the tapes were so similarly colored you could easily use the wrong hold. For example, on one wall, purple and black tape were used on routes right next to each other. I definitely placed my feet on incorrect holds numerous times. Lastly, I found the grades wildly different from my gym. I understand that route grades are arbitrary, but at my home gym I climb v4/v5, but here I was barely managing v2s. Basically, this gym has some difficult routes! Therefore, I wouldn't recommend this gym for beginners. I will say their boulders were very interesting and I wish I could have been able to climb more routes. They have a neat little cave that was very fun. To summarize- this gym is ideal for intermediate climbers on a budget who have their own gear. (I say on a budget because the other gyms in town are more expensive.) read more

It isn't too busy inside making it easy to do the ones you want. I do think the rock bouldering is mostly hard especially for me since I'm a beginner.
