We were referred to Nevada Comprehensive Pain Center for my husband. They called to schedule his appointment fairly quickly, and it ended up being about two weeks out for a new patient, which seemed reasonable. They also called ahead to confirm his appointment and even offered an earlier time, which was nice. He decided to keep his original slot since he hadn't completed all the paperwork yet. When he arrived, the check in process was fast... almost too fast. The front desk assistant was clearly trying to move things along, which is understandable, but she was interrupting patients while they were speaking just to speed things up. There wasn't a line behind the gentleman she interrupted, so it came off a little rushed and lacking patience. Not a huge issue, but definitely something that could be improved. On the positive side, my husband didn't wait long at all after checking in. He was taken back pretty quickly, spoke with the doctor, and the visit itself was efficient. Today was my first visit to NV Comprehensive Pain Management and I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist upon arrival and within minutes taken to the back by Sabrina a medical assistant who could not have been nicer. I waited just a short time to meet with Dr. Leon Perel who listened with great patience to my concerns prior to examining me. Do NOT go here! Absolutely horrible. I've been coming for 3 months, and I was told after 3 months, I would be able to be treated for my pain. They gave me a couple of prescriptions that did NOTHING as far as I can tell. Meanwhile I'm getting to levels of screaming writhing pain at night because of nerve damage. On our second appointment my mom (who has been driving me to all these appointments bc I can't) started to cry when they said they wouldn't be treating my pain yet. My mom tried to ask questions as to why, and Lauren (SERIOUSLY AVOID LAUREN) got a nasty attitude and bluntly wouldn't answer my mom's questions, just repeated herself over again. My mom is 73 and crying. Dr Lauren decided that was a good to time to be a jackass..... Mom and I left crying, and not for the last time. During the last month the pain got more intense so I went to my GP in a desperate attempt to find some relief. My GP agreed to prescribe me Tramadol at a low dose until my next appointment then she wouldn't be prescribing anymore because that was pain management's job. Last time I was there, (after 3 months have gone by) I was told they don't treat my kind of pain because the other doctors don't know what's causing it yet. So they know I'm in pain. I have tests result that confirms I have nerve damage, and my Neurologist told me that is causing my pain, and clearly I have already been taking something for the pain without abusing it. That doesn't matter to them though. "Dr" Lauren said to get my pain meds through my neurologist or GP. Then WTH is pain management facility for if they refuse to work with me to help my pain?!? It's utterly frustrating!! This is the only facility that my insurance will cover, but I'd rather take out a loan I can't afford and go somewhere else than go back there. My personal experience includes one meeting with the doctor and then every follow up appointment with the PA. I understand this is how cases are handled, but it can be somewhat disconcerting to feel "managed" and never seeing the doctor. The office staff are extremely rude and often repeat private information in loud voices for the entire lobby to hear. On my last visit one receptionist asked a man to rate his pain level -- when he answered "2 or 3," she shook her head and said "you aren't in pain then." I'm sure they deal with plenty of drug seekers, but they treat every single patient with hostile suspicion. It isn't a welcoming environment, so by the time you're taken to a room to discuss your pain you already feel defeated. read more

Be forewarned about their patient registration form. For an Old School half wit geriatric like myself it was a challenge and a chore. It's very detailed, demanding and a difficult exercise in patience especially if doing it online via cellphone. I made the big mistake of waiting until a few hours before my appointment and upon finally finishing it, it wouldn't send after several complete reviews for errors and multiple resend attempts failed the transmission went into a state of suspension. That of course may have been some problem other than theirs. I went to my appointment as scheduled but without registering I couldn't be seen. Like many of the reviewers, I am from California and new to Las Vegas. I was quite surprised by the number of negative review for NCPC, as my experience has been 5 stars. Over a course of 20 + years, I have had 3 spinal fusions and unfortunately, have been trying to avoid a 4th fusion for close to 5 years. When moving to Las Vegas, I brought all my records from my previous pain management doctors in CA. I have been seeing Dr. Jinabi and Vanessa (the NP) at NCPC and have received excellent, compassionate, timely care from both of them, as well as from the rest of the office staff. Various MRIs were ordered by Dr. Jinabi on my first visit and an agreed upon epidural was performed shortly after the results of the MRI were available. Unfortunately, the epidural was not successful in relieving my symptoms and after 5 years of epidurals, physical therapy, pain medication and on and on, I waved the white flag of surrender and will be having another fusion with my neurosurgeon in San Francisco. Thus far, Dr. Jinabi and staff are working with my surgeon to ensure a successful recovery back here in Las Vegas. NCPC is NOT A PILL MILL!!! If all you are looking for are pain meds, this is not the place for you. While I do take pain medication, NCPCs goal is to provide relief and get you off pain medication, which is what I'm looking for. Yes, they do replicate some of the previous treatments I've had, but surgery should always be a last resort, and I appreciate their efforts in trying to keep me out of the operating room. I've been to a few pain management practices over the last 20 years and usually they are miserable places. Nevada Comprehensive Pain Center is an exception to that rule. Everyone working there is friendly, I was a brand new patient and was processed immediately, and I was called back to see the doctor on time. I saw Dr. Leon Perel and I'm very pleased that I did. Dr. Perel has an exceptionally good bedside manner, he listened to the reasons for my visit, and he included me in the discussion of his prognosis. Unfortunately they are not able to help me, but Dr. Perel went out of his way to make sure that all would be well for me until I find a new practice. Once you get scheduled, this place is great! Prior, they are not very patient friendly. It is difficult to get through when you call, receptionist and schedulers seem to take pride in delaying and making scheduling the most difficult. Was referred to this place by my pcp to get one 50mg Tramadol a day for degenerative spine condition. I called and asked if they do zoom meetings since pandemic is in FIRE everywhere. They said I need to come in for first appointment than can get tramadol prescriptions refilled by doing zoom meetings thereafter (remember this) . I go to the appointment, pee in a cup. They have my xrays. Condition verified. Dr. PEREL comes in and I sense he's already made his decision by his body language. I'm asked no questions. He tells me he doesn't write prescriptions for narcotics (lie) he only gives injections. He tells me since I am taking xanax (1mg) a night to sleep I can't take Tramadol cause I'd stop breathing and die. (I've never heard this before and don't know the validity of it cause ive taken these pills before in the past and was never told this) I inform him i'm taking the xanax cause my husband died 45 days ago!! I'm having a little trouble dealing with the death of my spouse sir!! Not to mention having noone else in my home, amid a pandemic, stuck at home teleworking and dealing with such a tragic loss which, incidentally, triggers my spinal condition!! The funny thing, if there is anything funny about it, was I was considering taking my husband's death certificate since ive been JUDGED before trying to get a prescription filled years ago. (In his mind i'm just another liar... another pill shopper)-If this wasn't the case why not try to help me in another way, Prescribe something else, give me a cold pack? Anything?? It was very apparent he didn't want to help me in any way. He didn't care. Just wanted to shuffle me off to the next specialist. But I thought... it's just 1-50mg pill a day. I'll come in anytime for a pill count, they can random drug test me. No problem right? I promised Dr. Perel I will stop taking the xanax. Would he please prescribed the 1 pill a day and i'll wean off the xanax for a few days before I start the tramadol? It'll be hard cause i'm grieving. But to have mobility and free from the costant burning on my spine.... i'll do it. NOPE! No compassion. Nothing for the fire that's up and down my spine all day long. I was rushed out with a referral for physical therapy ($copay) and a MRI.($copay) HAVE SOME COMPASSION FOR GODS SAKE! I was treated like a junkie, a pill shopper for 1 pain pill a day. A TRAMADOL!! Not fentanyl patches! Not Oxycodone! Why was I told I needed to come in for the first visit and could zoom appointments thereafter if Perel only gives shots?!? Zoom meeting injection? He lied. I spoke to the office manager the next day and was told he can prescribe narcotics but it was his discretion not to. He blatantly lied to me. Don't expect any compassion from this person. Doctor Perel! I didn't have any trouble with the staff. They were very nice. Additionally, the office manager Ashley blew me off when I called her. It would have been nice for her and Perel to have said.. just once...... i'm terribly sorry for your loss. Never crossed their mind. They were dealing with someone shopping for pills after all right? I've never so disappointed with back staff of this office main and Sunset I was given an appointment card which I had in my possession and when I showed up I was told I had no appointment. Furthermore when I showed up for my scheduled procedure I was told I canceled it due to driver issue I have no idea why they talked to but it was never me I live alone This I was told someone name Melissa canceled it. Went there from a referral and saw Dr. Leon Perel. Was there about an hour and a half yet only saw the doctor for about 10 minutes, the rest of the time was waiting. When the doctor finally showed up he didn't ask me about my pain, where it was, how I was sleeping, or the meds I was taking and if they were working. He touched my neck and back a couple of times and did nothing else for me except tell me I needed to get an MRI. He did ask why I had gotten a back x-ray before coming to see him but never told me the results of the x-ray. He gave me no prescriptions or did anything to address my pain of 20 years and didn't even asked if I needed any meds. I had been told by the referring doctor I needed the x-ray before going to see him. Once he heard my Russian accent he wanted to know where I was from and then said he had some Russian friends in New York where he had moved from and then told me he only knew some swear words in Russian. He mentioned he was married and a Jew, and then we talked about that but nothing about my condition or why I had come to see him. The whole time it seemed like his mind was else where As you can tell by what occurred during the visit his demeanor was extremely unprofessional and the visit was a complete waste of my time and money. His attitude was more like I was talking with some kid off the street rather than a patient-doctor . I use Nevada Comprehensive for my pain management. I'm in Kevin Thorn's care. I'm extremely happy with the care I receive. He is professional and answers all my questions and concerns. He has a great bedside manner. He actually saved my life! I had some images taken pertaining to my arthritis and he spotted two small lesions in them. He told me he wanted me to get these checked out. It turned out they were cancerous tumors in my liver. I was being treated for liver issues at the time but nobody spotted these. If it wasn't for Kevin Thorn these tumors would still be growing in my liver. Subsequently, I've been through a few procedures to treat these tumors and they've been successful and I'm now on the transplant list. I'm so grateful for Kevin Thorn. Dr. Perel basically accused me of going in "just for narcotics" and yet said my file was full of cancelled and rescheduled appointments. I'm not an expert on drug addicts, but it seems incongruent to me that a person could be both going to a doctor's office "just for narcotics" while not going regularly. I mean, wouldn't a person that is seeking narcotics alone be going to all of their appointments in an effort to get said narcotics? My last prescription for something that could be categorized as a "narcotic" was prescribed ten months ago. How many drug addicts can make a prescription for thirty pills last anywhere near ten months. He also read something entered in my file as a "and I quote" that was absolute bullshit and was never said by me, or anyone I know. In fact, the last phone call that I made to this office, prior to scheduling this appointment, was saying that I had to cancel and I did not know when I could reschedule because I was out of state for my brother's funeral, and then my mother had a stroke in the days after the funeral. I was told at the time that if I cancelled I would have to get a new referral and I said that I had no choice, being as I was dealing with two family emergencies at the time I obviously had no choice. If this doctor had ACTUALLY looked at my file instead of focusing on appointments that were cancelled or rescheduled he would have seen that I do not respond well to most "narcotics" because I do not like the way they make me feel, they often cause me migraines, or simply cause negative reactions. I have encountered previous issues with someone in this office putting absolute falsehoods into my file and when I asked about it at the following appointment, because I had only recently learned of the "error" at the time, I was told that they had probably mistakenly entered information from another patient. I don't know if that information was ever taken out, but it was extremely erroneous and can negatively impact other things that I have going on. I should have just taken this egregious entry in my file as a sign to leave then and there and find a different doctor, but I made an obvious error in judgement and continued to keep the office as my source for pain management. Not anymore, I will be contacting my primary physician's office tomorrow to see about finding a new pain management specialist. I have never been particularly happy with this office, but this was the last straw, and what a big straw it was. This office has a history of exceptionally long waits for scheduled appointments, and somewhat ironically, their waiting room is often filled with a number of people that I would guess are there simply for the narcotics. There was also a failure on their part to notify me, when I called to schedule the appointment, that their office had moved and I did not know this until I arrived at their old location and found the notice on the door, which of course made me arrive late for my appointment as I then had to find their new location. I have dealt, previously, with some individuals at this office that have been decent, and ironically one that even said that I was the kind of patient that she liked because my having said that most of the heavy meds I didn't want to take because of my reactions to them meant that I wasn't likely there just for the meds and did not have addict behaviors. But, overall, the negatives of this office, particularly after this experience, heavily outweigh the ever so slight positives. If you are looking for a pain management office I strongly suggest that you look elsewhere, one that is not going to fill your file with fabrications or openly insult you with egregious insinuations. read more

I have been going to Nevada comprehensive pain management since 2014. I had an appointment I first went to the front desk to make sure that they would check if I had to take a urine test they told me no then Ashley the new girl came in while I'm in the office waiting to see a PA and told me he decides that he wants a urine test. I was a little upset because I went to the restroom. The new girl then tells me I owe 30 bucks because they take my insurance knowing that they don't take my insurance and I owe them 100 bucks then she tells me that quest doesn't take my insurance question is everybody's insurance and I owe them another hundred dollars I'm sorry but I got real pissed off because this girl has no business working there if she doesn't know what she's doing. So she decides that she's going to tell me I can't go back there to get treatment because they're not taking cash payments anymore and I know that I am the only person that they're not taking cash payments from because after what happened the first time I met her. I got physically hurt by Dr. Perel's anesthesiologist who had someone get on my back to hold me down because she didn't clear out my needle in my hand she came in pissed off she was late we all walked in the room and I felt the medicine going into my hand I tried to get away from her and she had a girl get on my back to hold me down which resulted both of my hips getting RIP them I just got my right side fixed it's a major surgery and it takes almost a year to recover so I'm stuck paying the doctor bills I don't have another Pain Management to go to because they never sent my doctor any of the paperwork so I asked them to print out the paperwork and they want me to pay over $300 when this paperwork is for my doctor so he knows what's going on so I can try and get a new pain management. I've been hurt twice there I do not recommend this place at all the new girl Ashley should be fired no doctor ever turns down money whether you like me or not I'm going there as a patient and I'm not happy with my PA because she was lying to.
