We recently lost our beloved Arthur right after Christmas Day. Though this is not the first time we had this painful experience, it always seemed each time one of our canine family members pass, a part of me dies along with them. We recently had to send our fur baby, Baby girl, to Rainbow Bridge. It was one of the saddest days for our family. Dr. Goldman arrived and was so compassionate and caring. He explained the entire process to us. He gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our girl, and our other fur baby, Rosco and cousin Mercury, were able to say goodbye to Baby as well. I can't express how grateful I am for the incredible support and compassion we received from the staff at Nevada Pet Hospice during a very difficult time. This was my first experience with euthanasia and I am so very happy I chose them for my sweet 15 year old girl Ginger. I specifically chose them for their aqua cremation, but the entire experience was great. They were incredibly understanding and flexible, allowing me to communicate via text when I couldn't manage a phone call. Dr. Alyssa Watson came to our home and was so kind and thorough, making sure to include all of my pets and family members in the process and explaining everything clearly. She was truly present and comforting, not just to me and my other pets, but to my sweet girl Ginger. She played with her and made sure she was completely clueless and wagging her tail before beginning the process. I love that she asked about Ginger and wanted to get to know more about her. I wish I could have engaged more and shared how wonderful my girl was with her but I was an absolute mess. I appreciated that she understood that and moved at my pace. I loved that she brought a beautiful resting place for Ginger to be carried to the car. She was very respectful and patient with me in my worst moments and allowed me the time that I needed to say goodbye. As hard as it was, I truly believe this is the best way to walk our babies to the rainbow bridge. Comfortable at home surrounded by everyone they love. They handled the aqua cremation process with the utmost care and speed. We chose to pick up the remains at their care center, and it was nice that they had an area to sit and have a moment if needed. I cannot say enough about how well Dr. Goldman and team managed the process with such loving kindness, at every step in such a horribly difficult time. I knew my beloved baby was in graceful hands every step of the way. The receptionist was so kind even though I wasn't the easiest client, she was so incredibly patient with multiple calls and some last minute changes, and Dr Goldman couldn't have had a lighter, kinder, more gentle demeanor. He didn't make anything feel rushed or pressured and was very sensitive to the level of space necessary without feeling invasive but still active and present. There are several options in town for in home pet euthanasia. We chose Nevada Pet Hospice because they are a local company and not a franchise or chain like the others. The initial call was hard - but something I had painfully been anticipating since our 10 year old German Shepard/Rottweiler mix, Karl was diagnosed with bone cancer 6 months ago. I believe I spoke with Natalie (I'm sorry if that's not correct) and she was so incredibly kind in taking down my info and scheduling the service. She went over all the options with me and provided several payment methods - giving me the opportunity to go on line and pay when I wasn't bawling my eyes out. On the day of the service, Dr. Toby called to let me know he was on his way. When Dr. Toby arrived, Karl greeted him at the door and calmly went into the other room and laid down. It was almost like he knew and he was ready. Dr. Toby walked us through all the steps - allowing us all the time we needed to be with Karl in those final moments. It was so peaceful. So hard. I was able to lay on the floor and feel Karl's final breath on my cheek. Something I probably would not have experienced had we done this at our vet's office. I cannot recommend in home euthanasia enough for your furry loved ones. It was zero stress on Karl and zero stress on me trying to load a 116 pound pup in and out of the car. One of the hardest things I have ever done. A few days later I was in touch with the office manager, Michelle. Michelle was also so kind and compassionate while we discussed upgrading Karl's urn. Such a terrible thing to have to go through and everyone at NPH guided us through the process with grace and sympathy. I want to give a HUGE thank you to Dr Toby and team. They have the biggest, loving, caring hearts and made the hardest day of our lives a beautiful one. My girls have been together since my Great Dane came around 11years ago and my Shepard mix we got 15years ago. With both of them being seniors and their health going down hill, I made the hardest call of my life. The loving, calming voice at NPH helped guide me into the direction of Dr Toby. He came to our house the next day to evaluate my girls. He was so thorough with the plan to help my girls with pain management and later crossing the rainbow bridge together. The day came to help the girls cross over the rainbow bridge. Dr Toby was there to see my girls shenanigans. We made them a big breakfast and they went to town. As my dane Benelli finished her plate she went right over to my Shepard Bella and took her plate too. Silly girl had egg in her paws. Dr Toby helped relax them, as they laid face to face he then helped them cross over the rainbow bridge. He let us have our time with each of them before carefully taking them. My guys were the pawbearers for my girls. They are no longer in pain, and feasting up there. Today marks 5days without my girls and as I opened my mail. Before I write this review I want to express my gratitude for all those that were in involved in helping my family and my beloved MIT transition through this process. Thank you to Dr. Alyssa Watson, and Jessica who answered my calls and e-mail. MIT, had fallen back in Nov 22' after 2 months of rehabilitation she was able to walk and run again, but soon she started to limp which confused us, after a visit to the vet she was diagnosed with Bone Cancer in it's last stage. We did our best but no amount of time or money was going to save my baby or get her better, it was decided then to put her to rest. Jessica answered my emails and scheduled our appointment, she made the whole process easy and simple, we did had to move the day a bit earlier then expected and she quickly found us a an earlier time slot that would work for us. On the day of, Dr. Alyssa texted to let us know she was on the way. She came prepared with pee pads and everything, but most important she was kind and patient with not just our girl MIT but with us. Our baby girl was handled with respect love and care from start to finish. We said our good byes and MIT was driven to the crematorium. 8 days later her remains are now back with us. Our fur-babies are family, and truly this experience would've been so much worse but NV Pet Hospice has made it less difficult, thank you so much again. Today was one of the saddest days of my life. Sixteen years ago a tiny Shih Tzu that nobody wanted came into my life. I can't explain the memories, if you love your dogs you understand. Oxytocin is a "bonding" hormone reserved for our human children and partners, but dogs, somewhere in evolution, hijacked that and both them and us feel this neuroendocrine rush of love-we are bonded. They say it's unnatural to outlive your children, and I think that is why losing a dog hurts so much. In many ways we are their parents, but they have shorter lives. I've known fir a while this was coming, but the day came I had to do what was kindest to my baby. I have 4 more, and lost one before him. My sweet darling dog passed peacefully, after enjoying a final steak with chocolate ice cream. Dr Toby Goldman was so kind when he called me, his staff as well. You never want to say it's time, you doubt yourself no matter how certain you feel, but they help alleviate some of that; nothing can take it all away. There is no other way to do this. It is the kindest way and I will forever be grateful. I'll be crying for weeks, but at least I know he went peacefully. Dr. Toby was so amazing with Max today. He passed at 11:15am. Dr. Toby made this so much easier. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Max was 15. I got him when he was 3 months old. I'm now 41. I was 26 when he came into my world and flipped it upside down. He's no longer confused, in any pain and can run free with his brother, Frankie. I'm sure Papa was there to snag him up. Beautiful experience even in the saddest moment. Thank you all so much.. Please, if you want a home passing, look no further. My other 3 dogs were locked in my room and within 30 seconds, they were silent for the remainder of the time. Dr. Toby is something special. That's for sure. read more
