During the tour, I asked a few questions to confirm what they advertised on their website -- that they were a traditional Montessori school. I asked Patricia, the founder and director, if there were any ways in which they deviated from traditional Montessori practices and principles and she said, "no, we don't deviate at all from traditional Montessori practices." So, I was shocked when picking up my 2 year old a little early from "Montessori time" (830am-130pm) to find the entire school huddled around a TV watching Troll cartoons. This is a double whammy of violating the Montessori principles of not using technology/screen time and avoiding fantasy. After asking Patricia about it, she confirmed that they put the kids in front of the television when it was hot outside. (With the location in East County, it is hot a lot in the afternoons.) Given that they lied about staying true to traditional Montessori practices and principles, I didn't feel safe continuing to leave my toddler in their care, because I don't trust that they aren't misleading about other areas of their care. I understand if a preschool decides to use TV sometimes, but I don't feel that it's okay to mislead parents about it. Their communication has been terrible from day one, from not telling me everything I needed to bring with her on the first day of school even when I specifically asked, to not informing me of major milestones like the first time she went on the potty. Since I've pulled my daughter out, I have not been able to get a response from the school about getting my full refund (they only sent a check with a portion of the security deposit and no explanation on why they are not refunding me for the entire security deposit plus the days she will not be attending in July) nor a reply to any of my emails.

This pre-school uses the SchoolStatus Connect App, which is a great communication tool that the teachers utilize in order to keep parents informed, engaged, and present. Everything they are learning in class today he has already learned at Bostania Bright Beginnings. We highly recommend Bostania Bright Beginnings to any parent who wants to give their child exceptional care while preparing them to be successful in elementary school. I don't love the location, right off a busy road, and there's been some teacher turnover, but the school feels really safe behind gates, with a lovely outdoor play area, and there's been a lot of continuity with other teachers. Unlike other day care facilities, this is actually a school, meaning that they don't look at your kids while you are working, but they rather teach them with the Montessori method a bunch of things: they learn playing, interacting with each other, and taking responsibility for themselves. I can attest to how much our little one has progressed under Miss Denise eye, an outstanding teacher and a great person. We feel like the school helps her mature and grow each day without the stress and competitiveness that other schools promote. The school is also very diverse, which for us was definitely a must! All teachers in the school -Miss Denise, Miss Dess and Miss Sophia--are amazing people and gifted teachers. When we expressed our concerns and preoccupations, sometimes in ways that could be less than rational, they would never judge us, they will take at face value our concerns and listen to us. We not only have peace of mind when we drop our little one at the school, we are actually full of joy to see her walk to her school, which she claims is the most beautiful school in the world. During these trying times of the pandemic, Miss Denise and the other teachers went above and beyond to make us feel safe. The school closed during the lockdown, but it reopened with the necessary precautions. Miss Denise has been following the CDC guidelines and the county guidelines for day care facilities and communicating with parents so that everybody is safe. Miss Denise, Miss Dess and Miss Sophia are like family to us, we love them for everything they do for our daughter. Ohh, and did we mention that the school is really affordable???
