This review is about the Victoria (BC) office of Tier One Travel. I have been travelling and…read moreliving around the world for the last nine years and have never - ever - encountered such an unprincipled company. In a nutshell, I wrote and asked how much it would cost to extend my stay in the country I was visiting. Without authorization from me - and without even hearing back from me - the agent went ahead and charged nearly $500 to my visa account. She had obviously saved my account details from the transaction where I paid for the original ticket. I found out my itinerary had been changed when I arrived at Phnom Penh Airport to check in for my flight. I appealed to the manager, Mike Hill, for assistance and a refund. Instead of assistance, I've received a string of excuses - including the time he must devote to caring for his 84-year old mother (I kid you not). I have not even received an apology. He is now insisting that I come into the office for discussion and suspect 'delay and intimidation' is the order of the day for the Victoria Tier One office. If I ever receive a refund, I'll certainly update this review.

RCR as they are often known is Canada's largest private ski resort operator. They operate Nakiska…read morein AB, Kimberley, Fernie, Kicking horse in B.C. as well as some ski resorts in Quebec. They also operate numerous hotels and a golf course. RCR offers poor customer service and completely ripped me off. I purchased a ISKI discount pass directly from their head office in Calgary. You have to activate the cards on their website but when I attempted to do so, it would not let me. I emailed them asking for help only to have a person named Erin reply four days later and conveniently the day following the season closure of the resort tell me they are closed for the season now so too bad, the ISKI card is now expired and non refundable. Such poor service is inexcusable and a sham. I am out $45 and received nothing in return. Deal with them at your own peril knowing their customer service will give you the run around and likely rip you off. As for me, Alberta and B.C. is spoiled for choice as far as other ski resorts go. As well, Whitefish Mountain Resort, MT is not that far from Fernie or Kimberley and offers significantly better service and value all round.

Our experience with Lena and the folks at Civilized Adventures was nothing short of Remarkable!…read more There were nine in our family who needed an agent to custom design and execute a 16 day trip for us in New Zealand. We realized that this would be a very complicated ask, but Civilized was definitely up to the task. They organized all of our accommodations, meals ( including dietary restrictions amongst our family members detailed at all restaurants that we visited), activities ( including Zip Lines, America's Cup Boat Ride, Guided Hiking, Guided Kayaking, Hobbiton Tour, Māori Cultural Events, Jet Boat Tours, Fishing Excursions, Sailing Excursions, Train Rides, etc. etc) and Drivers to pick us up and drop us off. One driver / guide was also included to accompany us on nine days of our trip. The entire trip was seemless. Each day our Phone Itinerary App told all of us where we had to be at all times of that day. Civilized did an absolutely fantastic job, and we were so pleased with the result. We have met with them since returning home, in order to find out what future adventure we can ask them to plan for us.
