I normally don't write reviews but this needs to be seen…read more I went in to ask about a hair style I wanted. Which was just 2 braids with extensions. She has done my hair before which came out good hence why I went back for braids this time. But the first time and only time I went to her I got a sew in (NOT BRAIDS). She tells me the last time she did my hair I got braids.... She said that I expressed to her " they were too tight and needed to be taken down". (WHICH WAS NOT TRUE) Therefore this time around she told me she did not feel comfortable doing my braids. I then explain to her that she's only done my hair once and it was a sew in. I never had braids done by her. And I never would ask for my hair to be taken down or out because I am not tender headed at all. Even if I was it's just not something I would say. I even showed her a picture of the hairstyle that she did on me a couple years ago. She then look's me in my face and said that wasn't her that did it....and she feels uncomfortable braiding my hair. Because she braids too tight. But like I said I never got braids done by her. I have got braids done for many years By different people. Never had to deal with someone refusing to do my hair. She is the only person I've seen working there and for me to be lied to when I had proof was mind blowing. All I wanted was 2 braids but she refused to do my hair. I am a little upset cause I feel that she just didn't want to do it cause of how I looked. But it is what it is. Nothing I can do now. But... I ended up finding a salon that would do my hair no problem.

Got it done at 330pm and was ignoring the discomfort til I went…read moreto bed and realized my scalp was already sore so I googled "cornrows hurt" and found out that such tightness can DAMAGE YOUR HAIR / SCALP. I went to sleep anyways hoping it would be better when I woke up. It wasn't. Got up at 430am and took those braids out myself to alleviate my headache and minimize any PERMANENT DAMAGE caused by dangerously tight braids. Taking them out I realized the EXCESSIVE GREASE she had put on my head, which can't be good for the hair/scalp either. Best choice ever to take them out. Something I read online stuck with me: "Those ladies know exactly what they are doing when they braid your hair up that tight." She laughed at me and said "look at you trying to turn your head!" I informed Ona the same day I took them out and she acted shocked, and get this, "generously" offered to put more braids in for free! No thanks, my scalp is extremely sore and I have a headache! I gave her the option to refund me (full or partial) and of course she refused, so I hope she loses business with this review. I'll add it to any other sites as well. PS: I should also add that Ona will not cut/shave any of your hair to finish your styling. So if you choose to risk it with her I guess you should bring your own scissors / clippers?

My first hair appointment I was notified last minute it needed to be pushed back 30 minutes and it didn't start till 1 hour past the time. My second appointment she last minute asked to change from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. I told her quickly that wouldn't work and I waited to hear back. By the time I heard back, it was too late for me to make it to this appointment. I had to organize my whole week around this appointment and I feel like the repeated tardiness and last minute notification was unprofessional. Then she said I had to pay for the entire service and she is threatening to take it to court. I thought she was a professional and would be respectful of peoples time. But now she is wanting to charge me $300 for services not rendered and threatening legal action. Response To Owner: I have screenshots showing the text exchanges with her which shows I was never 45 minutes late, to the initial consult. I was 1 minute late to the 6/26/2024 1:30 pm consultation appointment due to issues finding parking and where the entrance was located.You can see where I texted that I was parking, along with the timestamp. Then my first hair appointment on 6/27/2024 I was on time, but had to wait an hour past the appointment time for it to start. I attached the text communication to show that as well.
