I have taking my daughter to this salon, twice and in both times my daughter has loved it the whole experience of getting a haircut. The first time we went before the 2020 lockdown, we were able to walk in, we did called before leaving and ask if they were open and available, and the second time we had to make an appointment in order to get in. They sit the kids in a car seat, they have screens with cartoons on it, there were also plenty of toys and my daughter loved it. What a great experience! Maria the owner is wonderful and does an excellent job cutting hair. She listens to her clients and has a sweet disposition with the kiddos. I brought my toddler here for his second professional haircut ever. The first "kids hair salon" I took him to was such a horrible experience. It took me over a year before I would take him somewhere else to try again. Now that I have found Pio Pio, I won't be taking him anywhere else. Unlike the other salon, Maria actually gave my boy a haircut that looked like the photo I gave her. His hair is perfectly even and she knew all the tricks to keep him still and happy during the process. There's plenty of colorful toys around and cute little Fire Truck salon chairs for the kids to sit in. She gave my son a choice of Paw Patrol or Mickey Mouse to watch on the TV in front of his chair. Maria practices good pandemic safety procedures, which is something I look for everywhere I go. Everything is by appointment only and she allows only one family in at a time. She wears a mask and requests that guests do as well. The salon was very clean as well. I think it's important to note that found out about Pio Pio through word of mouth. She has a good reputation and several of my "mom friends" bring their children here. She even does adult haircuts as well! read more

It really depends on what you value in a salon whether or not coming here is for you. I have been here twice, and both times I have been made to wait over 30 minutes after my appointment time. The most recent, which was yesterday, we were seen AN HOUR after our appointment time; that wait is unacceptable with an 18 month and a 3 year old. I complained and little was done. Even then, only one person was cutting hair, so they cut my sons hair first, and then my daughter's bang trim; we had a 3:20 appointment and got out of there at 5:00. I went and looked at the appointment book, and they took someone with a 3:40 appointment before us -- if there was a reason, I am not sure because I don't speak Spanish. On that note, the workers, owner and owners husband are very nice and personable, however the man cutting hair did not speak English and needed to be translated by the female stylist. He was good with both of my kids but could not communicate with them effectively so that is a little tough. From my two times there, it seems that this location is targeted and serves mostly Latin clientelle, so that is probably not an issue for most but unfortunately I do not speak Spanish. The front desk man (who I believe was the owners husband) gave my daughter a cute gift bag because some other kids got them with a princess package and although he explained it through broken English, I believe he explained it was so she didn't feel bad seeing other kids getting something when she didnt. While I appreciated the sentiment, it may also be because I was visibly pretty annoyed by the long wait, complained once, and they may have heard my husband and I arguing quietly about whether or not we should leave and book a better place for next weekend. After that, the female Stylist made friendly conversation with us since she is the only one who speaks well enough English to communicate effectively with us. They gave us a card with some hair for my son because it was his first haircut, which is cute. However, there was already annoyance, anxiety, and a sour taste due to the wait and lack of apology. After everything was done -- haircuts were standard and they did a fine job -- the man at the front promised that next time he would give me a big discount. I didn't have the energy to argue with him after over an hour and a half of waiting and wrangling my children in the small space. Along with that, I didn't notice until afterward that they charged me $19.99 for a kids bang trim, which is supposed to only be $9.99. So, you will also need to make sure you are charged correctly. Too long, didn't read -- expect to wait 30 plus minutes after your appointment time. You should also speak Spanish and pay attention to your bill. read more

Maria is wonderful! She was on time and SO FAST! The kids had a blast playing with the toys and watching their favorite shows. Most importantly, their hair looks great! Just wanted to give a shout out to the Pio Pio Kids Salon (they take adults too). My son who has severe anxiety and some special needs still hates haircuts but the owner Maria is so amazing with him. She is quick too. If you want to see a stylist give a portrait worthy haircut to a kid who is half upside down, ducking and weaving like a professional boxer, and with the 8 arms of an angry octopus, all while keeping a smile on her face and a gentle voice to boot, go to Pio Pio. She is even open to kids coming in to hang out with her assortment of toys and whimsical styling chairs (airplane and a car) just to get used to her and her tools. My son starts Pre-K VE on Monday and he's going to look like such a handsome little fella when he does. So if you're in the area look her up you won't be disappointed. read more

I am amending my original review, since the last 3-4 times we have visited, the store floor and toys have been pretty dirty, and covered in hair. It's literally coating every surface. This is bothersome to me, and ultimately doesn't make me feel good about the younger crowd, who toddle, fall, & put toys in their mouths. There definitely needs to be more of a cleaning effort in the toy area and in general. read more

Great kids salon! We live in Los Angeles, but are getting family pics while we're staying in Winter Park for awhile. My 16 month old son needed a hair trim before our photos. We did a walk-in. There was one kid getting his haircut, but it was only a short wait. I didn't get her name, but our stylist did a great job. My son watched his favorite songs on YouTube & didn't even really notice he was getting a haircut. She was fast & his haircut looks great! Very happy with it. It's hard to find somewhere to cut a 1-year old's hair. Or at least somewhere that will keep him distracted enough to be able to get through it without him wanting to run off. Pio Pio is on the ball when it comes to kids haircuts. They have toys to play with while waiting and TVs at every chair to play movies to keep the little ones distracted. I think she even pulled out a bubble machine at one point. The girl who cut my son's hair did a great job and was running around like crazy, but still looked calm. The waiting area provided plenty of stuff for my son to occupy himself AND there's a gate to prevent him from running into the mall. The lady was so nice, quick, and cautious. Went on a Sunday to this place. The salon is located in a quiet shopping area. Our overall experience was great! My 2.5 year old son who's generally not very cooperative during haircuts was mostly quiet and allowed the stylist to cut his hair. They have toys and tv channels for kids to keep them distracted. I LOVE this place for my daughter! She had her very first haircut here and they made her feel oh so special and comfortable! She didn't want to leave, she stayed and played in their play area for a good 15 minutes! Her haircut looks beautiful and she was treated to a pretty braid with a ribbon in it! She was then given special surprises after (a ballon, sticker and a ring with bubbles). I was given a first haircut certificate with a piece of her locks - this was really nice and meaningful. Staff seemed nice. But did not get at all the trim I was looking for on my 4 year old. I told her we were growing it out and just needed a curly cut to help his curls pop and she cut it so short! I had to tell her to stop cutting it, going even shorter was not helping and not an option. I'm trying not to cry and reminding myself it's just hair and it will grow back, but I'm so disappointed. They asked if I wanted a punch card after all of this and I told them we would not be returning. Over-priced and I have to take my son somewhere else to fix this terrible haircut. read more

We brought our son here to get his first professional haircut in lieu of his 1st birthday party. She was great and super fast. My baby didn't flinch, which he normally does. I was scared to come because we didn't know what to expect or how he was going to react but we were scared for no reason. The price was reasonable. It was painless and the toy seats definitely help. I've showed up at 5 and 5:30 on two separate days and their location has a sign out front stating "closed". we had an amazing experience at this salon. the moment my daughter (3years old) walked in she want to sit on the car aka haircut chair then the nice lady played her favorite movie baby boss she has a whole stack of dvd and would ask what the child's fave movie is. they also have a mini bubble machine. she did a good job entertaining her so she sit still for the hair cut. after the cut my kid got a lollypop and a she get to pick a mini surprise from a basket.. inside the salon they have different kind of toys my daughter want to stay and play! very happy with the service. read more

What an awesome experience. Maria has been open at the Oviedo Mall in the Dillard's Wing since Black Friday, but I wish I knew about her sooner. My son had one of the best haircuts of his life. I absolutely love love this hairsalon that is geared towards kids. They are patient, caring and have a gentle touch. They serve all hair types. I was worried at first since my kids are African American and their hair type requires a different type of care, but the stylist was knowledgeable and offered treatments for my daughter hair which was super dry. My kids will be back every two-three weeks. And I live in Lake Nona so the drive is long but worth it. read more
