Plus, I always love mixing old and new items in my home decor because it just feels more personal and layered for me. That's where Isabella's Treasures in New Paltz came in around late Fall '24. I wanted my tree dressed in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, I'm that person who puts up the tree at least the day before and lights it during dessert time to kick off the holiday season. To my surprise, Isabella's had exactly what I was looking for: vintage ornaments in the perfect colors- each one unique, full of soul, and priced reasonably in the $4 to $8 range. Totally worth it for pieces I won't find anywhere else. The shop itself is a cozy treasure trove, filled with everything from jewelry, textiles, to jewelry boxes- both new and vintage. There's also an attached room with vintage board games and clothing (though I'm not sure if that's part of Isabella's Treasures or a neighboring vendor). Isabella herself is a doll- super helpful, warm, and even gave me some background stories on the ornaments I purchased. It made the whole experience feel extra special, like I was taking home tiny heirlooms with their own little history.

So the week before, hubs and I scoured this tiny- but mighty shop at the corner of Tannery Brook Rd & Tinker St. in Woodstock. The size of this shop makes it cute. The location is cute. Hell, the products are cute. These ladies have a selection of minimalist-meets-unusual lifestyle and home items ranging from candles, door stoppers, jewelry, blankets, throws, outdoor mats and so much more done tastefully. This was almost a one-stop-shop place for us as we crossed some people off our Christmas list. Between the sofa pillow I got for my Mom, (2) small ceramic candle holders, a fuzzy scarf and tapered candles- things were looking good. Since my daughter's sorority's mascot is an Elephant, I also purchased her an Elephant wooden door stopper I couldn't pass up. List or not, I'd come back any other time to pick up something for myself.

They carry everything you could think of from cards to crystals, to beautiful jewelry, candles, clothes, and just about anything you could imagine. So uplifting! I could easily spend a couple of happy hours there! Love the location too! Next door to a great coffee shop, a bakery, and tons of wonderful restaurants. Owner likes to complain to Yelp when Yelp reviewers post true things about their experience with…read moreher and/ or her business in general that aren't positive, and then she gets Yelp to delete the reviews she thinks are most going to deter people from coming to her store. Owner replied to my first review I posted this week by denying our experience at her store, gaslit me and told me she was going to ask Yelp to delete my review because it was damaging to her business. Sounded like she was having a melt down over the truth getting out. I noticed after that 3 people conveniently posted on the same day positive reviews when her listing on Yelp never gets too many Yelp reviews in a short amount of time, let alone same day. Very Interesting. She must've told her employees, friends, clients and/ or followers about my review and asked or manipulated them into to feeling bad for her and going in to leave more 5 star positive reviews to boost her rating back up. Owner is damaging their own business by how she treats some people as if they're more trusted to shop there than "others" who look a certain way. Take some accountability and deliver a better customer experience to ALL people who come in and haven't done anything wrong, especially repeat customers.

But it took one day while schools were out to come here and get a scope of who they are. Welcome to the fascinating world of crystals when you come here! If you're starting, you might feel overwhelmed by the variety of these beautiful gems and their uses. Plus, this wife+husband duo got you covered with books on spiritual awakening, tarot readings, the celestial beings, mysticism, separate room for classes, book readings, discussions, meditation, etc. Fear not! I didn't come to Mirabai to awaken any spirits- but I do like crystals and came here to select a few for the positive energy they release and personal development and found Citrine, Moonstone, Hematite(?). But aside from stones and things, these folks also carry cute decor such as votive candle holders, Black Russian stone tiles that I use to anchor a candle holder or could use on its own and a few other things. Price is right. And Audrey and her husband Jeff were a delight.

It's set up very nicely with lots of great items everywhere in all sorts of nooks and crannies displayed on interesting wonderful items. It's also pretty big so you can take your time to walk around and see everything. It's a fun boutique all in all. My friend and I walked in and the girl behind the counter was on her phone the whole time looking down and did not look up once. Ok, that's fine we don't always need a greeting when walking into a shop. However, there are lots of delicate items and I would think you would want to check in to see if the customer has any questions or want to see any of the items that are placed inside the display cases that have to be opened. There was silence until my friend asked if one of the items were vermeil gold or gold plated. She had no idea and was a bit taken aback by the question but then got up and went behind to look at some sort of book. So we figured she must be looking it up. We walk around some more and about a good 20 mins later we come back and ask her did you find out and her response was, "what?" This time I asked the same question and she responds that she doesn't know and she was just looking up prices. We never asked about prices. It was just so weird and obviously apparent she did not care and was not the owner. All I kept thinking was only if the owner knew how she was handling their store. We did end up purchasing items because like I said earlier they have some wonderful items but the customer service, rather lack thereof was just ridiculous.
