Great service from the salesperson who helped me and my son this evening. He seemed to go out of his way to find my son a shoe that fits well and was reasonably priced. Sometimes at this outlet store you have to go find the staff people to get help, which might bother some people, but I actually like not having salespeople hovering over me! I used to really like this place, but after having been there for a few times, I realized the prices aren't actually that much better than other new balance stores if not other shoe stores in general. Also, the employees aren't super helpful or knowledgeable about the product that they have in stock. When I initially came here a few times I would say that the employees were fairly, responsive and customer service focused however I would not say that that is the same case anymore. Customer service has gone down and so is the current collection the new balance offers. They also pretty much charged the same price if not more despite the prior models that are offered at this location. There are barely any sales anymore as well, so there really isn't any value here in terms of shopping besides trying out shoes that you could try out at another actual new balance location not this one. read more

I bought 3 pairs of shoe from them. I only needed 1 of the pairs, so I sent 2 pairs back. That was on September 19th. It is now over 1 month since they have received the package and I am still out $247.48. How do I know, their mailroom signed for it on the 20th. Today: they have no knowledge of where the package is and they are still holding my money, not their money! I've been told by NB 800# to give them 2 more days, in the interim, I am told that NB doesn't own this store, it's a franchise. NB makes a great product, but if there is no CUSTOMER SERVICE, it is worth absolutely to me! Should I call Jim Davis? Anyone with any. suggestions? read more

So I stopped going here. Why? Because they little to no selection of WIDE sizes. If you have wide feet you are out of luck so its a waste of my time. I go to Bob's or Kohl's in Salem they have a great selection of wide shoes. read more

Very good selection of shoes and fairly good selection of sportswear. The prices are good, you have to watch to assure you get pairs of shoes included in promotions (yellow tags for get 1, get the 2nd at 50% off, for example). The best shoes are NOT discounted and will be marked as excluded from promotions. The staff here seemed disinterested in working here, no one said "hello," no one acknowledged my presence in the store. I got what I wanted and checked out. Went into the store and the sale associates not even reply to the good morning I said to them. It was a Sunday morning I thought I must be hard to be working on a Sunday and kind of brush it off. Then I started to look for shoes for me, I ask one of the boys working that day and he was not only not helpful but rude. Mind you the store was almost empty and they were just wondering around. I found the shoes that I wanted, for me and my boys. And again the boy at the register not even reply my greeting but completely ignore us. New balance, IMHO, has quietly displaced Nike, Adidas, and all the other popular brands in just about every sport in the last five years. The quality of the construction has gotten better and better while the trend for these other brands is to implement as much fabric as possible. After six months of wearing any of these shoes with fabric, aware of material and key points like the tips of toes and the back heel.I have three kids, one in college and two in high school wall play various sports and we were throwing out money constantly. Love it here. Especially the bogo sales or 40% off clearance. It's not in the "bad" area of Lawrence and easy to get in from the highway. My whole family wears NB and they actually have some wicked cute styles- not like the grandpa shoes you usually see old men wearing. I never leave with less than 3 pairs of sneakers and I am not exaggerating! 12/2014: I usually average about $40.00 a pair but unfortunately this trip the sneakers averaged about $60 a pair and that's with the 20-40% discount they are running! Place is not that hard to get to. Couple of minutes off of the highway. Parking is free indirectly across the street. Seem to have a pretty big selection of shoes for men and women. It is factory outlet so it is kind of hit or miss what they have in stock in your particular size. The staff is friendly though. Pricing is good. Some things were about 20% off others about 15-70%. I love this place! I have been coming here since I was a kid when my family lived an hour away now that I literally live blocks from it I enjoy it so much. We constantly get great service, find amazing deals, and the people there are always so courteous! If you need an elevator for either a handicapped person or a baby carriage they are eager to let you use the buildings which is modern and state of the art. Returns are simple and worry free. And best thing right now if you go to Shaw's in the area there is a 30% off coupon to the store! Which gives you an extra bonus and even more money off! This is where I got all my shoes, excluding spikes, for high school track and cross country and I still go here when my sneakers wear out. The prices have risen as the store has turned over from being a remainder store to a more mainstream "outlet", I used to be able to get shoes for 20 bucks and now the price is closer to 30/40 at times. Perfect for people with weird feet sizes, NB has shoes that will fit someone up to a EEE. However, they are often lacking in shoes for women sized 8.5 B...which can make it hard for most women. They also have clothes and other gear that you might need for running and other activities. Totally worth a look. The Metro often runs coupons on the front page in the bottom corner for 25% off or other deals. They also sometimes run specials where you get a certain percentage off if you bring in an old pair of sneakers or if it is a holiday. read more

Sorry as I must make this unfortunate update based on a follow-up visit. As far as shoe selection is concerned, and pricing, this is still a great store. BUT, if you are looking for a specific type of shoe for a specific purpose, such as running, make sure you speak to someone who knows what they are talking about. Here, I'm not sure I can now trust getting that type of sales person. Months ago the sales rep I spoke to about a running sneaker, I am a novice light runner, sold me on a shoe claiming it is the same shoe our military uses for training. I figured if it is good enough for our great military, it is good enough for me. Well I subsequently developed a strained Achilles' tendon and heel spur and am continuing to be treated for painful tendonitis in my right heel. I can't say for certain it was caused by this shoe, but i have to lay suspect on it. If I want a pair of everyday kick around shoes, I would still come to this store. But for specialty athletic shoes where I need the expert advice of a sales rep, I will go elsewhere as it is a crap shoot that you get a real knowledgeable rep here. read more

Living in Allston/Brighton for a while. I can tell you the prices are the same at both locations. The parking is plentiful. The store it self is clean and easy to find. Be mindful that if the bridge is closed the store is not easy to get to at all. The staff I ran into was helpful but could have been more helpful. They have lost of shoes on display but the boxes may not be in order. But if your looking for a great running sneaker stop here. They make the shoes right in the building. read more

While this was my not first visit to the NB Factory Store in Lawrence, it was without qualification, the worst. It is a big, beautiful store with a wide selection of NB products at seemingly good prices. The service this morning, however, was awful. Now, maybe I caught them on a bad day but... After spending 10 minutes milling around looking at the various cross training shoes and watching 5-6 NB sales employees milling about and chatting among themselves, I finally walked across the store and got someone to help me. Perhaps I chose the wrong guy because (Wally?) could not have been less interested. I went to great lengths to explain what I used the shoes for (high impact aerobics) and the issues I was having with my feet - which I already knew stemmed from not replacing the shoes on a more timely basis. I might as well have been speaking a foreign language. All Wally did was asked me the basic questions - what size I wore and what width. I said I wasn't really certain but I showed him my old NB shoes which I'd brought with me. Another wasted effort. He never offered to measure my foot; never suggested I try them on. He simply handed me a box, said this is what he recommended, and that was that. I bought basically the same type of shoe I'd bought previously. THAT I could have done by myself! For the NB product I will undoubtedly come back but, trust me, I won't look for anyone to help me. read more

I was impressed with the selection and prices. If you don't mind closeouts and seconds this is the place to go. My Doctor prescribed New Balance shoes for my foot problem. I went to the local mall store and found a pair for $149. Ouch! After going to the NBFS, I found a comparable pair for $39.99 during the Labor Day sale. The original retail price was $124 for these shoes. The sneakers were marked 'seconds' on the box, but I couldn't see the cosmetic detail that got them cut from the big leagues. The store was well laid out and the products were easy to find what you need. All the stock for the displayed styes are already out on the floor and in a try-and-search format, so you may not have luck finding your size in the style and/or color you want, but there are many styles to choose from. If you're not stuck on a particular style number and willing to spend a bit of time looking around, you can definitely find a great deal on a very well made pair of shoes manufactured in the USA. The only employees I saw were the two at the cashier station, so if you have a question, you may have to go searching. This is a do it yourself store. I will be returning in the future to get shoes for my kids and family in the future. You just can't beat the prices for the quality; a great value. read more

I absolutely love this store. Wide variety of styles, sizes, and widths to choose from. The staff is incredibly helpful. Sometimes they might be busy so you just have to flag them down. Store is also organized. You are free to roam around and try on shoes to see which ones fit. This is a factory outlet. I've never had any trouble finding new sneakers here & they're generally in the $30-50 range. Socks, shorts, etc. as well. I was just there a few days ago and they didn't let me down. I asked if I could get an extra pair of laces & the cashier threw them in for free. Sometimes I wonder if the parking lot is a safe place to leave my car but nothing's ever happened in all the years that I've been going there. read more

This outlet store is fabulous! I can walk there from my office. The few times I have been there I have found at least 2 pairs of sneakers that I really like. Prices are surprisingly cheap for such a great brand. I got a pair of running sneaks for around $25. They also sell socks, athletic apparel and water bottles. I did not find much along the lines of just sweatshirts and jackets and stuff but I am sure their selection changes quite often. If you know *exactly* what you want and need you'll be fine and might get an OK deal. If you're hoping for an educated sales staff who know how different models fit and who can watch you walk and make suggestions whether you should get a stability, neutral, or cushioned model, you won't find that here, which is disappointing since New Balance markets itself as a company that puts fit and function first. It was an effort to flag down an employee at all, let alone one who could do more than mumble and just point at the signs. I'm a New Balnce fan. I've worn 993s ($145) for *years* but after an injury I needed some advice as that model wasn't working for me anymore. Sadly, no one was able or inclined to give advice. I left there and went to Marathon Sports in Melrose. Got an incredibly helpful sales person who made great recommendations and ended up going with another brand (Brooks) entirely. I think a lot less of New Balance as a brand after this, and won't be in a hurry to hit the outlet store, let alone pay full retail, again. I'll give the New Balance Outlet two stars because there is a decent selection and you'll probably save about 25% over retail on the "seconds" if they have what you want. You might even luck out and find something in the clearance section for super cheap. I wouldn't really make a special trip for it, though. read more

I'm knocking off a star because last time I went, most shoes only came in limited widths and they seemed to be out of popular sizes on almost all their footwear. A lot of stuff is now made in China too (Even if it is marked Made in USA, it means that up to 30% of the materials and/or labor are from outside the USA, according to their own literature. my husband went there for some new sneakers.. they had a special.. the more you spend the larger the discount you get.. but for a FACTORY/OUTLET store.. the prices for most of the shoes was not very cheap.. some were still well over 100$.. but we did find some nice sneakers for under 40$. the lines were long.. and they could have opened more registers.. and they were asking people to enter a raffle.. for a buck.. and proceeds go to Japan.. which was nice.. but filling out these little slips of paper took too long.. and were the reasons for the long lines.. instead of the extra girl bagging my shoe box.. she should have been in charge of collecting the slips and 1$ so the line could move more quickly.. but all in all.. except for the bridge being out.. it was easy to get to, and clean. not sure we will go back.. i am sure i can find these prices in a store as well read more

We've heard about this place and finally took advantage of a sale to take a look. 30% off the listed prices was offered if you brought in an old pair of sneakers. We were impressed by their selection. I have a hard time finding shoes that fit my long, narrow foot. I found several styles that I liked with my size. We didn't interact with staff other than at the cash register so I can't vouch for their knowledge or helpfulness. I've been told that manufacture some of their shoes locally but everything I saw was made in China. Still, I like giving my $$$ to a company connected to Massachusetts. read more
