Dylan is the best. I went in a few weeks ago after taking up the treadmill on a pretty serious basis. I was wearing a pair of the running shoes that are wildly popular right now and thought they were reasonably comfortable, but I was having to ice my feet and ankles after every workout. Visited the New Balance store for help. Dylan scanned my feet, analyzed my gait, and put me in a pair of shoes including inserts for my very high arches. This is the only shoe store where I could find shoes for my child with wide feet. They have the super awesome high-tech machine that measures your foot down to the last centimeter. GRIFFIN IS THE GOAT. I went in to just try on some shoes and see what I liked and when I tell you Griffin went above and beyond I mean it. He was extremely knowledgeable about shoes and clothes both from NB and in general with other brands, so it was great talking to him. It is hard to choose a star value for this review. The salesman I worked with was very pleasant, attentive and honestly was trying hard - so 5 stars for that. Every time he went into the back room to get a pair of shoes he was gone 5-7 minutes. I don't know if the back room is in chaos but it seemed like it took forever, in fact I started googling prices at other stores and scrolling social media as I waited so long each time. So that is 3 stars. I appreciate the foot scan and direction towards the correct shoes (4 stars). HOWEVER I do not feel like the salesman listened to me. (2 stars) He directed me to a pair of shoes that felt ok on. He did not offer for me to even try on the model I came through the door saying I loved (I was wearing an old pair) and wanted another pair of. In fact he steered me away from them. I told him at least 3 times to ignore the fact that I have PF because the normal shoes recommended for PF make it worse for me. Finally he came out with a pair of 860s on clearance and I bought them - kinda cuz I'd been there so long. Turns out if I wear them longer than a couple hours I have a lot of pain. So I went online to another vendor and bought the dang 1080's that I wanted in the first place and they are great, and now I'm stuck with a pair of shoes that don't really work for me. The salesman did say it was his first day on the floor, asked me to post a review as he hopes to move up in the company, and was really trying hard. But he did not listen and I wasted money on shoes that don't work for me. So overall I'm giving 3 stars. Been to this location multiple times to trying to buy a pair of shoes. Had no one help us even when the store wasn't very busy. Left the store without being helped or buying shoes. If your business motto is to help one customer at a time. You need to hire more people when it's busy. Otherwise change your business motto so your customers are being helped. Saw other customers with frowns on their faces from waiting and not being helped or even acknowledged. Buy your shoes online and return them to figure out your size or go to Nordstroms where someone will at least get you a shoe to try on from the back. read more

If I could 10 stars to iancarlos I would! Me and my bf's family went in here wanting to look at some shoes. But my bf's sister was mainly looking at shoes for work, while we were looking around we asked iancarlos for some recommendations. He told us he will get a size of her foot along with checking her heel width and arch's. We were confused as to what he was talking about until we saw a machine where it scans your foot, ankle, and part of the calf. He gets it on his screen and be able to see what your true size is and how high or low your arch is. He gave us many shoe option and told us different reasons for the different styles. He even gave us different insoles and had us trying it on with the different shoes. His information and his knowledge to every shoes purpose was very informative. He helped me and my bf's sister. I don't quite recall the employees name I believe it was Sean but he was one of the rudest customer service employees I've come across. My friend had bought shoes from here before and signed up for some sort of email letter and got a good discount off of his shoes a few months ago. Yesterday I went in wanting to buy a pair of sweatpants and I was wondering if I could get a similar discount and he immediately shut me down. These guys have a great shoe selection -casual, running, hiking, walking, golf, etc, and the prices are better, and designs more tasteful and subdued than what I saw at the big swoosh store. -They also carry a Made in USA line, and an Assembled in the USA line. The staff was nice, and the high who helped me performed a fitting and knew the products very well -he was able to describe differences between models, intelligently speak on shoe fitting, etc. read more

I'm giving them two stars for the times I have been in before they hired new people. My husband and I come from Vancouver because we were recommended by our Doctor. A young woman helped us her name was Alana or maybe Elena I can't remember. What I do remember was my husband having to return his shoes twice. The first time they were far too wide. She didn't bother to even measure his foot. This girl was more concerned about what her looks could get her with every male customer. We returned the shoes and she still gave us the wrong pair again! We went to Bridgeport New balance to buy shoes. No other customers were there and 3 salespeople were standing by the register. A salesman asked to help my husband. But when my husband mentioned that he used to buy new balance at a Kroger store, the salesperson said that my husband was wrong and became argumentative. Meanwhile I looked at the shoes for several minutes. No one greeted me or even acknowledged me. I could have gone up to a salesperson, but it felt like I was unwelcome. It was a weird unfriendly experience to have a salesperson be argumentative about what seemed a small thing, and for a customer to be totally ignored. I could understand if they were busy, but they weren't. We came in ready to buy 2 pairs of shoes and left without buying anything. Poor customer service. read more

I just went to this store for the first time today; I've worn New Balance shoes for years and my latest pair were falling apart. I hate shopping malls, but this was the only store in the Portland area that I could get to easily. As it was, it took us a good 30+ minutes to get there from Damascus. They were having a sale, which helped, because my shoes are not cheap. I was greeted right away by Shannon, who helped me find just the right pair of shoes for my wide, lu'au feet which would far rather not have anything on them. Well, except for my handknit socks in winter, that is. Heh heh. Yes, I knit my socks. Amazingly the first pair of shoes I tried on were the most comfortable for me, and I walked out of the store wearing them after only about 20 minutes. Shannon gave excellent service; she was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. She went out of her way to find me just the right pair of shoes. She was familiar with the stock, and I can definitely recommend her. My husband used to be in the shoe business, so I know what to look for, and Shannon did great. All in all, a good experience. I just wish that there were more NB stores closer to me. read more

I'm only writing an "average" 3-star review because I actually didn't get to experience anything... Maybe I'm just an idiot, and if so, I totally own that, but I could not - for the life of me - find the damn store. I use the map locator on my phone through yelp. I google mapped the address. I drove around that damn parking lot over and over and did NOT see the store. Maybe somehow I just missed it? But to me, that shows poor advertisement if someone can't pick out your signs/store from the street/parking lot. I will admit, I eventually just got so frustrated that I considered it lost time and moved on. But I REALLY REALLY wanted to go so I could get my gait analysed using their system. I was put into New Balance in 2011 and haven't looked back... until the 880V4, which had a lot of issues. I then got put into 860's because it turns out my gait/pronation changed after weight loss. I've still been having issues, though, and thought "what a perfect place to be fitted in the right New Balance shoes... a New Balance store!" I was really psyched to see that it was there, and then I had one hell of a time finding the place. I was just visiting the area for a few days, so it's not like I can just go back and find it again later - unless I want to make the 17 hour drive.... sad.panda. read more

After two attempts to patronize this store, I have decided to share why I will never shop here. I don't like to dwell on bad experiences nor do I relish giving a business a bad review. This review is, unfortunately, very deserving! Went to the store on Saturday afternoon with a couple family members and my 5 year old nephew. There were a few people in the store and we were not greeted by any staff members, I found a bench in the corner and my nephew walked over to a small rolling seat that the staff use to help with fitting the shoes - there are several all over the store and there was a little girl pushing one in the store when we entered. Needless to say, my nephew went over to one of the stools and was just standing near it, looking at it and touching it with his hands. I was talking to him about what it was when one of the New Balance store staff members walked up behind my nephew, pushed the stool out and said "hey I need that" and then proceeded to kick the stool away for my nephew. The sudden action, loud and rude comments and general agressive behavior from this large guy (at least 6'2") startled my nephew and caught me off guard. While I was processing this very rude behavior to a small child, I heard the same employee tell the customer he was "helping" that she needed to "make up her mind, because he doesn't want to bring out anymore shoes for her"...At this point I had already started moving toward the door with my family and nephew. We all left the store and commented about the weird vibe and the way the employee had approached my nephew. We moved on to other stores and decided not to go back to New Balance that day. On Sunday (today) my husband wanted to look at some new shoes and we decided to look at the New Balance store - he was not with me on Saturday, but was aware that we had not had a great experience - he was curious if this time would be better. We were not greeted when we entered the store - we were the only customers in the store and there were 3 employees around the register area - not looking at us and not coming toward us to greet us. We made our way to the back of the store to look at the mens running shoes on the very back wall of the store - after about 7 minutes of looking and talking to ourselves, an employee came over and asked us if we were looking for anything. My husband explained what he was looking for and the employee waved his arm around motioning that there were several displays and that once my husband had picked a couple shoes, he would go get them. Basic enough customer service, not great, but not horrible. The employee brought out a couple shoes and then watched my husband try them on, no help, didn't measure my husbands foot or ask him if he had any issues or concerns with his feet, etc. I asked a few questions about cushioning and support that were not really answered with any knowledge about the brand. We decided to leave without purchasing anything. It was an underwhelming experience. New Balance is a gret brand with a good quality product - but the employees at this specific store have very little, if any, product knowledge and give zero effort in regards to customer service. My husband and I went next door to The Shoe Mill and proceeded to have an amazing experience and bought 4 pairs of shoes, one pair was New Balance!! read more

I've been buying New Balance shoes since I was 18 when I discovered my feet are EEEE (extra extra wide) and that they stock extra wide shoes. So kudos to them for having amazing shoes. I love getting great service. If someone goes above and beyond my expectations I feel the need to tell people about it. Yesterday I went here with my wife to get a new pair of shoes and was helped by Josh. He went above and beyond any expectations I could ever have had. He was incredibly knowledgeable and spent time finding the perfect fit for me after finding out where I hold my weight and watching how I walk. What? I have been wearing the wrong shoes all these years? They take care of you and make sure you are getting a proper fit, it can get busy so I like to hit them up right when they open. When I first went here I was looking for a bargain or a cheaper shoe than say at Freds but that wasn't the case. They cost twice as much as I normally would pay for a shoe but the first time I put on a pair of NB running shoes my feet thanked me and I wore them out of the store. I explained to him how sore my feet get from working on 'em all day and though there may be better shoes for standing in all day I'm still a bit of a sucker for style and want the classic look of the 574's. I went to this store today and ended up leaving. When you enter the store the girl sprayed hand sanitizer on my hands to enter. I would think I'm sanitized I would be able to touch a shoe no she had to do it for me. To much for me. I went next door and spent $150 at Shoe Mill instead much better experience. I drove from Gresham just to go to the New Balance Store. I don't mind waiting outside or wearing a mask or having the young girl spray my hands with sanitizer on the way in.
