I'm very neglectful in writing reviews. But here it goes... I love Gimres Shoes. Kelly and Gigi are amazing! I came in back in February looking for a pair of waterproof dress boots I could comfortably wear for 4 hours straight standing on concrete. It was a pretty tall order. And I needed to be able to use them within 3 hours. Not only did they find a solution. Some very cute boots. But they even found ones that were wide enough to fit my bunion. And they helped style me with a nice hat to match my scarf. You guys are amazing!!!! Kyler helped me this time around. I really needed new orthopedic inserts for my work shoes. I ended up getting Aetrex ones. And when he didn't have 2 sets for my work shoes, he offered to order some. Just amazing customer service. Thanks Kyler! This is what I truly love about Gimres. They take the time to really help get you a good fitting pair of shoes. I've had 2 very positive experiences at Gimre. On both occasions I brought my puppy into the shop with me (they are dog friendly). They brought out treats for my pup, and I really appreciated that they special ordered Keen shoes in a size that fit me. They called me when the shoes were in, and I also was fitted for a more comfortable work shoe that felt so much better to stand in than my previous worn out pair. Their prices are very reasonable for the higher quality shoe - as a reference, my work shoes w/ their insoles were $175 & the Keen sandals were $120. I know both brands will last at least 2 years. They said that they donate old shoes, which is great! They offered my pup water & welcomed me back soon. P.S. I didn't purchase one today, but for those who consider this a value, I noticed they had vegan shoes as well. Very cool! read more

Despite us arriving later in the day, he gave us the attention we needed. We never felt rushed or pushed into buying. Last year I bought my mom a Gimre's gift certificate for her birthday. I was excited to come with her and help her choose her shoes. When we got there, the attendant was helping a white customer, being extremely kind and warm and helpful with her. My mom, who is Guatemalan, barely got a greeting from her. After awkwardly waiting about 15 minutes for help in the tiny shop I asked for help and the attendant seemed annoyed. Her attitude was cold, a stark contrast to how are treated the white patron. My mom felt completely unwelcome and it was a really disappointing visit. I've had good experiences in the past, but I'm also much lighter skinned than my mom and speak English without an accent. Or seems obvious that she was di scriminated against because of her ethnicity. read more

I highly recommend this store! I wanted a pair of Birkenstock's but couldn't find a pair wide enough. As soon as I walked in, a staff member, Chris, came over to help me. The assistant manager, Kelly, also offered suggestions. The people in this store were very professional-- an imaging machine helped them evaluate my foot problems, and they took careful measurements of both feet. They were patient and helpful-- another sales person, Kathy, was friendly and helpful as I wandered around looking at other items. Unfortunately, it seems that Birkenstock's simply don't fit my feet, but I was fitted with other shoes that are very comfortable and stylish. Kelly took the best care of me & my feet needs. I've been walking around w/ sore feet, knees, & hips for months due to my job. I told Kelly what I do (standing all day on concrete) & how my feet are affected. She put me on the machine to measure my feet & check my posture. She then pulls out all kinds of inserts to find the ones that fit my feet perfectly. And then she brought out the shoes I was interested in. I mentioned the compression socks & we grabbed some of those too. We put it all together & I stood up... pain free... for the first time in months. Sweet, sweet relief!!! Twenty four hours later after wearing my new socks, inserts, & shoes I feet better then I've felt in so long. I can not thank Kelly & Gimres enough for helping me out so much. I love Gimres now but historically I do not like shoe shopping. :) I went into Gimres to try on some of the shoes I had been eyeing in the window for a month and the lady who helped me patiently suggested shoes that fit my liking and my descriptions to alleviate my worries about having big feet and her car and comfort and wanting to look good, too. She made me feel like I was worth the time it took for me to find the perfect pair of shoes. They were kind and compassionate. Ohmygoodness. ...pay a lot to be told what to wear and corrected. Ummmm no. So we decided to get Birkenstocks. Pricey at 130 bucks a pair but good shoes. Could order online ...but no we decide to support our local businesses. Guy tells us that there will be a sale at Saturday Market. Well great. We get sized so we can just come and get them. I went and got hubby's pair early last week as a gift and then went to get mine. The sales guy goes to the back and gets a different set. I say "no, I want those." Too bad....not in stock. I said "But I asked if you would have them and you said yes and that there would be additional selections as,the rep would be there. He corrects me as to when I was in....not realizing that I was in a,week ago when he was not there. I tell him I will order online and he says "good luck".... Now first, as a business owner, I would never have a customer come back. I would offer that discount now to make the sale. I would also never ever correct a customer. To get folks to support your small business you have to service their needs. You can't decry online when you have nearly 300 in sales standing in your store and you send them away. I came to Gimre's with the goal of finally getting myself some proper, well-fitted footwear, and I left with more knowledge (and shoes) than I came in with! Kelly was a huge help; she helped measure my arch and my shoe size, and then showed me that I have a very high arch that I wasn't aware of. She worked with me to find the perfect fit and shoe for me, and she picked out comfortable insoles for the boots I came in wearing. She even stretched out the front toe part of my boots and the new shoes I had purchased, as I had made her aware of the tightness I usually feel around my toes. Kelly made it clear that she was putting me (and my feet) first. This was my first time at Gimre's, but I experienced incredible customer service and a great selection of products and footwear. I can't say enough about the service here. I was having an issue with an insole slipping and stopped in to see if they had any ideas. Rhonda offered to glue down the insoles for me free of charge. It worked like a dream and I came back in a couple of hours to shop for some athletic shoes and a pair of casual shoes. We didn't find any athletic shoes that work for me but we found a great pair of casual shoes. I really like the fact that Rhonda focused on what I needed and how the shoes felt on my feet rather than I'm trying to push a sale at my expense. I ended up buying more glue for another set of shoes, a casual set of shoes, and a couple of pair of socks. I also plan to make the store my first stop when I'm looking for shoes in the future. read more

Gimres has been our "go to" shoe store in Hillsboro, since I was a little girl. They have good quality shoes and excellent customer service. I took my mom in the store a couple of weeks ago. She has peripheral neuropathy and fallen arches, hammer toes, and a different shoe size for each of her feet. Lili is a clerk there. She was amazing. She was kind, patient, friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable. She ordered a couple of pairs of shoes for us. We will always ask for her when we go back. read more

I had heard great things about Gimre's Shoes and had to check it out for myself. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by nice people and they immediately started helping me; asking for what I was looking for and my shoe size. They were having a great sale on boots, which they helped me sift through first, and had plenty of cute and comfortable options. Then I started noticing their great spring selection and they helped me pick out a pair I wouldn't have normally chosen that were very stylish and super comfortable! Extremely happy with the choices and quality, and they have a 1 year warranty on their shoes!! The prices were also great, and were the same as they would be online, even at Amazon and Zappos, but I would rather spend locally. I was very happy with the quick and wonderful customer service I received. Linda checked me out at the register and was super nice and answered all my questions with a smile. I will hopefully be back soon to see what they'll have for spring/summer and will definitely recommend Gimre's to friends and family! read more

It is unfortunate that I am writing this review. For years, Gimre's was a cute, iconic shoe store that I walked past on my way back and forth from work. I had been meaning to drop in for a while but hadn't until today; hopeful to experience the raved-about customer service and walk out with a nice pair of shoes. Neither was achieved. I walked up to the door and looked at the clearance shoes. Observed them for a bit but didn't find my size. The two employees in the store glanced at me but never said anything like, "hi", "welcome", or "can I help you?". I was completely ignored. So, I walked into the store, in plain view of everyone. Still no "welcome" or "i'll be right with you". I figured maybe they didn't think I was going to buy anything so I started obviously looking at shoes until I found a shoe I liked... not my size. I held it. Waiting for about 5 minutes for someone to take the obvious hint that I would like to try the shoe on. Still not a word. The lady that was busy with a customer checked them out and stood by for a few minutes. Glanced at me, still holding my shoe, and didn't acknowledge my presence. Apparently answering the phone was top priority because she went and did that instead of talking to me. It's now been 10 minutes since I first walked in and still no one acknowledged my presence. So, I put the shoe down and walked across the store and looked at the selection of Birkenstocks. Again, I held one I liked waiting for nearly 5 minutes for someone to realize I wanted a shoe or even say "Hi!". No one did. The lady got off the phone and went behind the counter and just tapped her fingers on the counter... am I invisible? 15 minutes of my time wasted. I had hoped to be able to get myself a nice pair of shoes and support local business but I cannot support poor customer service! I wanted to start this review immediately but decided that maybe I would give them another chance. I walked in again, about an hour later, with company. Still, no welcome! I even had time to tell my entire story about what happened earlier to my friend before we were addressed! What a shame. Gimre's lost two customers today due to bad service. I will order online where this service is acceptable. This is unfortunate because they have great selection of quality and leather shoes. Just a simple, two second welcome would have been greatly appreciated. read more

Every time I go in to Gimre's I am greeted with helpful, knowledgeable staff. Tonight I took my husband in because he has such a hard time finding shoes that work for his feet. Kelly took such good care of him. She scanned his feet, pulled out several shoe styles, and hooked him up with a set of inserts that fit his needs. Went into Gimres today(8/18) because I was returning a pair of shoes to the store that my sister had bought when she was down visiting from Washington. I got great service from the staff even though there was some diffrences between the store and my sister about the shoes. They handled it unbelievably well, very professional people.I have bought shoes from them before and after today I'm going to be a long time customer. Hard to find an actual shoe store these days and what a delight to actually have SERVICE. I went there to find a cross trainer shoe. They have a computerized fitting service and I got the very best pair of cross trainers which really help my feet. I plan to go back here.. it's so hard to order shoes on line.
