My food was really okay. I really liked the flavor of the fried rice, but I didn't really like the Mongolian beef. It had a lot of beef, but I don't know if it was the type of meat, or the way that it was cooked, but it was just chewy and gummy. Seemed fatty. The crab Rangoon filling was a little too sweet. I did like the wonton part though. The service was fine. My pick up order was ready when I arrived and everything I ordered was correct. It's in a pretty small space. They probably do more take out than dine-in. I may try something different another time and see if I like it better. read more

I usually go to China Town but since they are closed on Tuesday I decided to give a restaurant I have never been to a try. The lady at the counter was rude and the food was far below my expectations. There is no flavor in the Singapore Mei Fun and it is supposed to be spicy. It's not. I'm scared to try the soup at this point. Maybe for dinner. Never again. I've been looking for a new Chinese go-to for a while now, and this place looked pretty well-reviewed. It isn't exactly in a convenient location for me, but I didn't mind the drive. New Canton is in a run-down strip mall in Raytown, but don't let that put you off. There was no one in there when I arrived, except for the young guy at the register. The place was absolutely spotless, a huge contrast to the exterior environs. I had called ahead and my order of Kung Pao Chicken and Kung Pao Beef was ready to go. Even though it could've been spicier for my taste, the food was good with plenty of fresh vegetables. Will New Canton be my new go-to? They wanted to have a surprise party for my Chinese granddaughter's 18th birthday and arranged to have 2 of her best friends who grew up with her in the orphanage join us. My son-in-law is a gourmet cook and called around until he found a restaurant who could provide authentic Chinese food with good customer reviews. The New Canton Chinese Restaurant did not disappoint the friends and family. Though the restaurant was small in size, the owners offered the BEST service, and were available for any particular requests. The food, for us, was served family style to accommodate the group of over 20 guests. Our picture here was taken as the food began to come out. My granddaughter, her 2 sisters, and life-long friends had a memorable time together, and the food was fantastic. read more

Their Phad Thai is disappointing. I guess you have to ask for it have any bit of spice to it. Very mild and bland. It's more like lo mein than phad thai. Amazing Chicken is good. Hot and sour soup is ok. Service is fast. Better option than others in the area but not great. read more

This place is amazingly good. We've gone hear a handful of times, and each time it has been delicious.

Not sure how this place has the reviews it has on other sites, but it is very generic Chinese food. Wonton soup tastes like chicken broth, pork lo mein was terrible, sesame chicken intensely sugary. The reviews had me hopeful for finally finding good Chinese food in KC....the search will have to continue. read more

I highly recommend the hibachi combo. It was really, really good. Their portions were HUGE, which is good, because the prices are fairly high. We easily got 4 servings out 1 dish. The sesame chicken was ok. It was rather hard under the sauce. I suppose it was meant to be crispy, but maybe I'm just used to be it more soft at other places. My husband said the egg drop soup was great. The crab rangoon was yummy. I would order from here again, but I'll probably only order the hibachi. read more

I can be picky about Chinese since so many places use the same suppliers and many taste the same. I tried New Canton a few weeks ago because it was nearby and fell in love. I've eaten there 12-15 times since and I plan to keep coming back frequently. Perhaps the best part is that everything is prepared fresh. The orange chicken has a nice freshly-fried crispy texture underneath the delicious sauce. The crab rangoons are always freshly cooked, even when you get the lunch portion that only comes with one. The hot and sour soup is full of tofu, beef, shoots, etc and not just a thin watery mess like so many places. They have very good/late hours for the area and even have a good size lunch menu that's only $6.25 with choice of soup, main dish, and egg roll or crab rangoon. It's family run, friendly, and fast. I decided to give this place a try and I'm SUPER GLAD I did give them a try! The food was fantastic the crab Rangoon were even better. I love eating sweet crab Rangoon!
