I don't know how I had never been here before last week. I walked in and was able to get a HUGE amount of food for less than $30. I ordered crab rangoon, orange chicken, beef and broccoli, vegetable lo mien and crispy spring rolls. It came with a large side of steamed rice. This was WAY more than enough for me, my parents and sister. Everything had great flavor. I'm truly giving this a 5 star because of the ease, quality and quick service that I got when I walked in the other night and had all my food 20 mins later in a bag, ready to go. This is the first place you should go if you want to have the worst dining experience of your life. We went and ordered sesame chicken and beef bok Choy and what came out was sesame beef and orange chicken. No good English was spoken and the food tasted horrible. The place was creepy too, we waited for our food about 20 minutes and it was clearly the stuff you can get at Costco in the big bags. We couldn't finish it. This place is not ready to be open in the COVID era. Order called in at 5, we were still outside waiting for our food outside at 6 pm. There is no SYSTEM and no way to check in when you get there. There are just 3-4 people outside waiting, and no way to let them know you are there. We never even got our food as our young kids got restless after 30 minutes of waiting in the July heat; so me and another couple just up and left. Will have to find another local place for Chinese, as they just aren't ready to be open at this time. Sad, for what used to be a decent place. I used to loved China Star. But the owners have really let it gone downhill. The photos on the yelp review are very old. The menu board doesn't even light up anymore. Everything from the glass dividers, to the wall laminate is falling apart or very dirty. The restaurant itself is pretty dated, and the chairs are kind of uncomfortable. Just moved to the Parkville area - first order of business? Find great cheap Chinese food, obviously. The boxes can wait. This little hole in the wall does not disappoint. Orders are ready basically right when you call them in, and pick-up and delivery are both an option. No matter when the food arrives, it is piping hot and absolutely delicious! The Crab Rangoon, generally my litmus test for Chinese food, is delicious and has real crab chunks on it. The Sweet and Sour chicken is made with big chunks of white meat, and the sauce comes on the side for your dipping pleasure. The General Tso's chicken is also made with big chunks of chicken and is perfectly fried and glazed. The veggie and tofu options are also very good. Best part? Great location for Parkville residents, and the lady running it was very nice. The good was great and the bad was really bad, so I settled for 3 stars. Good: crab Rangoon, chicken chow mein, friendliness. Bad: no air circulating in the restaurant on a high 80 degree day. I left sweating getting a Carryout order. Portion size: very small on the combination dinners. Not enough for dinner but good for lunch! Pork fried rice: blahhhhh. Will stick with white! On the fence overall. After reviewing the menu the child (literally about 12 yrs old) at the front register rang in my moms order while he was playing with his phone how $7+$1.85 came out to $14.40 I will never know and when we asked he mumbled and looked at us like we were stupid. Only giving this place 1 star because there is no option to go negative. Bill was higher than expected so while I waited for my food I added it up from the menu and when I asked her to see her copy with the prices she tried to tell me tax went up and it just doesn't show it. Explained to her that even if tax when up from 7-9% that it would still not be a 10 dollar difference. She then conviently told me she raised all of her prices but is not advertising ant increased prices yet. It's no wonder the 2 other times we have gone here the place is empty. My family and I love this place. It has become our Friday night tradition to get takeout, and have done so between 15 and 20 times now. First of all, it is inexpensive yet solidly good food. I cannot imagine actually eating in the restaurant; there are about ten tables, but I have never witnessed anyone eating there- takeout only. The food is not like eating at Bo Lings, but it is quite good for the value. The service is great. On a couple of occasions, they have been out of a food item, and only once forgotten an item. The Szechuan Chicken is by far the best I've ever had. It's a non breaded dish that's full of veggies like broccolli, baby carrots, snow peas, onions & zucchini. Smothered in a rich broth with just a touch of heat. I mean barely any heat. But it's full of flavor & you can tell there's no skimping on the ingredients! First off, the food here is amazing. We ordered the Happy Family and Combo Fried Rice. Everything is made to order. It's fresh AND delicious. This is not Chinese food that is marginal and that you only eat there because nothing else is available. It's so much better than standard Chinese takeout. That being said, I walked in a placed an order to go. So did quite a few other people. Not many people sitting and eating, mostly pick up orders. Due to the fact that they were cooking in the kitchen, we didn't see a lot of help outside the kitchen. The Crab Rangoon is probably some of the best I've ever had...and it's known I'll eat an entire 8-pc order by myself!
