There were gentleman working in the parking lot who did a nice job of directing us where to park. There were a lot of people coming in and at a steady flow. The people taking tickets were quick and efficient which kept the line moving. That was very nice. The lantern festival was in a gated section. We set up our chairs and then went to a second section for food from the food trucks. There was also a long row of Port A Potties as well as a sink with soap. That was very much appreciated. Though there were thousands of people there we never felt crowded. Everyone was behaving and having a good time. We talked to two security guys during our time at the festival and they were extremely nice. When it was time to go the parking lot directors kept the traffic moving and people were able to leave without sitting and waiting for a long time. We also saw a car being towed out. It was nice to know that if something had happened to us that help would be available.

We found this by accident on Facebook & saw their Wine Your Way Our event. We drove an hour and a…read morehalf to get here. It was chilly, rainy and everything was muddy, but we had the BEST time! Everyone was so nice & friendly. We met the man who makes the wine, he introduced himself to us and was so kind. The property was beautiful and set up so nice even though it had just poured rain two hours prior. The wine was delicious (and I don't even drink)! The ticket price was $35 for this event, but you get 12 samples of wine, a fun time in a huge corn maze, free cheese, chocolate & fruit, and the chance to make new friends. Overall, we had an amazing time! We even finished the night with a bonfire by the sunset & hot chocolate.

The mansion/office/museum overlooks the city of New Castle on the North. Events and special exhibitions are presented at various times throughout the year. Staff are available three days a week to catalog donations. As our population grows older, these folks want to keep memories of our past for future generations. The coal mines, steel mills and pottery that were operating in my youth are long gone, but items from these manufacturers can still be viewed here. The history of each item is carefully documented so in the future the important momentous donated will reflect our past.

We try to catch a few games a year as it is a fun atmosphere to watch a baseball game while enjoying hot dogs and cold beer. It's especially fun when they have their buck nights where they offer dollar hot dogs and dollar draft beer. The staff does a great job of keeping the fans engaged especially the young kids in attendance. They hold special events outside of baseball throughout most of the year as well. Its close to restaurants and sits behind the Eastwood Mall complex. Great place to go to have a fun evening out.

I am a self-proclaimed presidential history nerd visiting from Texas. I've read a biography on…read moreevery president in order through Truman, and my bucket list includes visiting where each was born and their final resting places. Of course, I also make it a point to visit presidential libraries, national historic sites, etc. I've visited dozens of locations across multiple states. The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum was one of the most heartwarming places I've visited. Belinda, the Museum Director, is such a gem! A few months ago as I planned my trip, I emailed the museum and she responded. It was nice to put a face to an email. Belinda and I held a wide ranging conversation. I was interested in the building's history as much as in the museum...as I wondered how people used the building before she made it what it is today (she took over in 2022). She's done a helluva job. The museum is FULL of unique artifacts, including McKinley's actual sword used in the civil war. Display cases upstairs walk through every chapter of McKinley's life. You'll see a bunch of other neat memorabilia and artifacts like an official presidential banner, the key to McK's birth home, and tons of items bearing his signature. You also see: slippers hand crocheted by Ida McKinley, a piano belonging to McK's mother, and the desk used by McK when he practiced law. Probably the thing that gave me goosebumps, however, was when Belinda told me they have the actual flag which covered his coffin. It's in storage now, but hopefully on display soon. She's also hoping for a donation of furniture that was actually in the McKinley home. My conversation with Belinda almost brought me to tears. Hearing the way she's worked to make this museum what it is today.... Every time I visit a presidential history site... I am overwhelmed with gratitude for people like Belinda and others who had the foresight to preserve and maintain our history. This museum has the potential to really be something, and I'm so glad I visited!

My Great Great Grandfather built a scale model of McKinley's funeral train. I had always wanted to…read moretake my family to go see it. Living in Georgia now, it's not quite that easy. Last summer we planned a trip making this one of our priority stops. We checked the schedule to make sure we'd make it on time. Driving in from Niagara Falls in a terrible thunderstorm, we pulled in about 10-15 minutes before the final self guided tour time. Walk to the entrance and it's closed. We knock, try to call, etc. Walk over to the library on the other side of the courtyard. The librarian was very helpful trying to get a hold of the curator. I go out, walk around the building to the back, and knock on the door. The curator answers. I say we're here to see the train, that it's part of my family history and I'd like to show my kids. She says "no". I ask if we can, just for a moment. She again says "no" and that we should come back tomorrow. I told her that we were travelling through and wouldn't be in the area tomorrow. She just refused. Remember, this happened when the museum was supposed to be open. I feel sick that part of my family heritage is under the care of this person.
