I had better buffets before and this one is on the very bottom of my list. Honestly the employees look like they are unhappy working here because I would be. First off, the woman's restroom is nasty and the vent looks like it hasn't ever been clean before. Food variety is very poor and hard. The only thing that I liked was the ice cream in a deep freezer that are individual cups. Carpeted was worn out and torn. There were fruit flys around the dessert table. Cockroaches were crawling around on the ice cream freezer in plain sight on the dining room floor just 10 feet from where we were eating. We have always put up with the less than clean environment at New China 8. Stacked plates weren't always as clean as they should have been, and there always seems to be a bit of grime covering everything. We've been going there on and off for as long as they've been open. I was always willing to look the other way since they had the best tasting dishes that were being refilled on a regular basis, but I draw the line at cockroaches. If there are cockroaches in plain sight in the dining room, one can only imagine the nightmare scenario that exists in the kitchen. For the price, $6 per adult, it's well worth it for fast food and all you can eat. I've come here twice and each time, the price for children varied from $1-$5, so idk what's up with that, one child was 2 yrs, another was 4 yrs. This time, the 2 yr old was $1, and he didn't eat, and the 4 yr old was $5. Last time, the 2 yr old was $3, and he didn't eat at all. My sister loves the crispy honey chicken, for me it was ok. Thought about giving this one two stars... Run of the mill Chinese restaurant, big place, lots of seating. Has a decent number of buffets with large food selection. Some of the food has a variation I haven't really tried before, like the Crab meat ragoon was a little different than normal. Waitresses seemed like they had to be there, weren't very nice. Actually heard one of them very disgustingly clear their throat a couple of times. Bathrooms were very sub-par cleaned. Oh, and my fortune cookie sucked. Haha. I came to this place a while back and enjoyed the food. Been back several times since after the first good experience and it's been horribly inconsistent. This time (weekday lunch) was disgusting. My two kids who usually eat any Chinese food whatsoever even thought it was "gross". I had we had to set aside many dirty plates to find a remotely clean one. Sometimes, when I was living in Sheboygan, I'd visit this quaint Chinese Buffet on Taylor Dr. The building itself use to be a Hardee's, however it didn't do so well in our area. My wife and I ate there last night. I'll start with the good. Good service. Good sushi. (Not a lot of selection) Now the not so good: 3 shrimp in the Mongolian shrimp dish. I took them. Never refilled. 1 piece of General Tsao chicken. I took it. HARD. Never refilled. 8 tiny shrimp. I took them. Hard. Never refilled. 1 teriyaki chicken. I took it. Crunchy?. Refilled once, but by the time I got there the batch was gone, since others were waiting for it. Mushrooms and pork. One half spoonful. I took it. Great taste. COLD. Sweet and sour sauce. Had a skin on it. Don't know how it was possible, since it was so watered down that it didn't cling to the chicken. Chicken and broccoli. No chicken. (Not a big problem since I know the broccoli is the flavor carrier in that dish anyway.) Now the bad. No pudding. Not tapioca, not chocolate, not yellow. (vanilla?) I used to be a regular, but the service and food quality has tanked over time. It was a regular place for my daughter and I to have our "lunch dates" (she's 5) until one of the servers stopped her from walking into the bathroom and told her to go back to the table. I was ten feet away, well within view, and she was walking a safe pace. I approached the server about it, and she laughed in my face, then mumbled something under her breath as she walked away. I gave them a second chance a few months later, and the same server was blatantly rude when I walked in and ignored my table for my entire stay. This place is awesome. Granted its buffet Chinese food; but is the best chinese buffet in Sheboygan. You could even argue this is the best Chinese food in the area. Don't know why, but sheboygan has terrible chinese food. At least New China 8 has dishes which resembles what good American Chinese dishes should be like. Check your local Sheboygan paper, they usually have a coupon which makes it very affordable. This is good Chinese food. I have eaten there 3 times, and it is consistently good. Buffet style is well maintained, with lots of variety. The servers were pretty standard, brought the drinks and the check. Lunch is fairly quiet, the dinner crowd is a bit more boisterous. Very good value in food and experience. My friends know that I love Chinese buffets. I travel all over North America and Europe and I dine at them wherever I find them. Most of them are what you expect: a variety of hot American-style Chinese food that usually includes two or more kinds of soup, some kind of dumpling or Shao Mai and an assortment of noodle dishes, meat dishes and vegetable dishes. The predecessor to New China 8 Buffet closed and it was a surprise to me. This happened at a time when no less than four of the Chinese buffets in north-eastern Wisconsin shut down under mysterious circumstances. I was delighted when this buffet reopened under new ownership. The two times that I have dined there have been very enjoyable. It has a very sunny, friendly atmosphere with clean floors, well-upholstered seating and pleasant decorating. The food was very good: a nice variety that was fresh and well stocked. No dishes looked "tired" and everything that I had was delicious. My concern is that the staff had limited English language skills and there was no one that I could talk to about their marketing. No one was aware of web sites like Yelp or Groupon that could help them attract new customers. I'm hoping word of mouth brings customers back to this very nice establishment. read more

If Yelp allows 0 stars then I would definitely give this place a 0 star rating. My boyfriend and I were really craving buffet at the time and Golden Chopsticks was only doing carry out due to COVID BUT we wanted to dine in somewhere especially because I had just recently gotten back from a work interview. When arriving inside the lady had no communication with my boyfriend and I but only asked if we were a table for two. We were seated immediately but that's because no one else but one other table was dining across from us. When being seated we both realized that our seats were uneven and we could feel no cushion but the spring inside the booth seats to the point were it felt like we were sitting on trampolines. Not only that but the ceilings had mold. I believe this is a food hazard. To also mention, across from my boyfriend and I there was another man sitting at another booth across from us. When my boyfriend and I were both seated the man was basically ready to leave. Anyways apart from that, my boyfriend and I got up to get our plates only to realize that there was only a variety of 6 or less dishes out. For an all you can eat buffet, I am sad to say that there was not even any rice made FOR A CHINESE BUFFET. Obviously, we both waited about 15 minutes to see if there was going to be any replacements only to find out that there was yet again still no rice. Despite this, all the dishes were cold such as the chicken and broccoli stir fry, potstickers, crab rangoon, etc. Back to the man who was sitting across from my boyfriend and I, after about 20 minutes after he had left and his dishes on the table..the lady who worked there did not even clean up the table. To my surprise along with my boyfriend, the lady who did work there had in both her airpods and was talking on the phone very loud in her native language by the cash register and there was a table to clean along with another table who left too. In conclusion, our experience was a one time experience where we will never go to again. Definitely one of the worst ones in town. Please don't go here and save your money to go elsewhere. For both my boyfriend and I, we ended up paying a total of $20 and for what it's worth you're better off going to another place to eat where you could get a more variety of food and a better dining environment. I've been to this place and the chinese food is one of the best in the town. The general tso chicken has a little spicy kick to it that I JUST LOVE. And their garlic shrimp is a perfect blend of sweet and spicy.The atmosphere is a little different from their original location, which surprisingly was just a 30 sec walk away, and the place is little smaller but the food is still as amazing as it's always been. if you're looking for good old classic Chinese American food, I highly recommend this place but if you're looking for stuff like dim sum, you'll have to go to Chicago =) P.S., it's pretty cheapp!! which is awesome for a starving college student =( read more

A friend and I visited the New China Buffet at the Taylor Heights Shopping Center in Sheboygan in July and August of 2013. I was impressed by the selection of options and reasonable price. Not as impressed by the quality of the selections and the cleanliness of the floor. On both visits my shoes stuck to the floor in the buffet area, which made me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Also, some of the food items seemed to have been sitting on the buffet for too long, and their quality had deteriorated. Would I go there again? Yes. But I would take a small taste back to the table before taking a serving. read more
