I am not one to post something like this. I handle these things in person...but this is a different scenario.. I called to order Chinese from China King in Port. I simply started ordering... "Can I please have an order of general tso chicken with chow mein instead of rice?" She said, "Do you mean lo mein?" I said "Oh yes" She said "I don't even know what that means but okay we dont substitute the rice for lo mein anymore because were sick of people complaining" I then said " okay I'll pay for a whole order" Then I ordered crab Rangoon She said "You mean the crab cream cheese wonton?" I said "Yes, I'm sorry, they have crab in them right not just cream cheese?" She said, "This is china king in port Washington, did you call the wrong place because i can tell you didnt even look at our menu?" **i was in a hurry and on the go trying to get to baseball and the husband wanted Chinese so no i did not look at the menu.** I said "No this is my first time ordering, can I ask why you are being so rude? Im just asking questions about then menu." She said, "Ok bye" I called back and she ignored my calls multiple times and I called back again on a restricted line...she said, "yeah I hung up on you..you can come in and look at the menu if you want to order" I asked her if she was the owner and she said no but she's been there for 30 years. I am honestly so shocked someone can treat a paying customer this way..I just had questions to make sure i ordered the right things...kindness and good customer service goes a LONG way and I will not be back there... read more

Lady who answered phone is rude. Chop suey is not chop suey (no sprouts) and the fried rice is blah with vegetable mix of corn, carrots, peas, and onions. Will never go back there again. read more

We decided to give this place a try for the first time. Went online to view the menu and called to order. Well we called twice before someone answered and when we ordered the Mongolian beef the lady said are you sure? I said yes, she asked again are you really sure, because that's not a popular item. Well we told her we'd call back to give us a chance to pick something else. We called back and ordered the beef chop suey and this time the lady started laughing on the phone and said wow you're really picking all the unpopular items no one orders that. Good savory food. The veggies in the Beef Lo Mein were nice and fresh. It was maybe a little greasy and very savory, so just consider that if you are sensitive to that. This place is good to satisfy a craving for sure! When I went in to pick up the inside was very small, there is no indoor seating for eating that I saw. My bag contained my order as well as extra sauce and fortune cookies. If you like rice, make sure you order it or choose an entree that includes it since not all of them do. There is lots of outdoor seating in the Marina area- make sure to ask for utensils and napkins if you plan to enjoy your meal outside. The food was made quickly and was nice and hot. I dinned in because we were in town for a day trip. They Provided the absolute minimum (not enough napkins or utensils for serving). When I asked for more again, I had to be specific as to how many I needed. I was also disappointed in the food. If you like omelette like egg foo young (you will like) but I enjoy the bean spout ones. Egg drop soup was good & sweet & sour chicken was average. Overall I found the family of this restaurant rude. Service was pleasant. Served inedible spring rolls. Burnt on the outside. Therefore, the inside of the spring rolls had lost moisture. The fried rice is sticky balls of rice which includes frozen vegetables of peas and carrots. No eggs. No green onions, etc. Many ingredients were missing from the rice. Disappointed. read more

Not sure why there are bad reviews. I have been going to China King for at least 25 years and the food has always been excellent. I always get General Tso's and Szechuan Shrimp. It's always fantastic! I would say to step out of your comfort zone. If you are ordering sweet and sour chicken, then you are going to get sweet and sour chicken, it is not going to be especially fancy. I would recommend a more complex dish... anyway, I love it, and so do my kids. I have never had a bad meal there. read more

If you love bland mediocre Chinese food this is your place. Ordered Hunan shrimp extra spicy, Nope , more like no flavor nor spice way too many veggies and hardly any shrimp. We went here recently because our kids dance at Impact Dance which is in the same strip mall and we figured it would be convenient. Before going we looked up the menu online to decide what we wanted in advance. We are a family of vegetarians, and Chinese food usually has lots of options. We picked out what we wanted and headed in to the restaurant. This place is VERY outdated and dark. No lights on behind the back lit menu board so you cant read it or see the pictures. Very cold and unwelcoming inside. Even if you choose to eat here you're eating off paper plates with plastic forks like in a food court, and you bus your own tables. Maybe good for take out only. So, we read our list we had written down to the lady at the counter who told us they didn't actually have any of those things on their menu. The menu posted online was not theirs. Oh, new owners maybe? No, she's personally owned it for many years.. but the menu online is not theirs. This was explained by saying "They want us to pay to put our menu up, but they want us to pay to take that one down, too." Well? Do one or the other at least. So, we spent a few minutes going over their paper menus (you know, the ones used as place mats in Chinese restaurants that have the same things as everyone else. We had a few questions... Me: "Do the cream cheese won-tons have crab in them? We are vegetarian." Lady: "You mean vegan." Me: "No. Just vegetarian. The cream cheese is fine. But I don't eat animals." Lady: Crab isn't an animal. Me: Vegetarians do not eat any seafood either. Pescatarian's however do eat fish and seafood. Lady: Well they change it all the time. I can't keep up with all that. Side note: Why is this so standard? Isn't that just a crab rangoon, then anyways? Yet, almost everywhere you go.. the cream cheese won-tons have crab in them. So, we asked a few more questions and basically there were no vegetarian options. Even the veggie fried rice was not. So, we ended up leaving without ordering anything. One of these bad chinese places with frozen egg rolls and mushy fried rice. The only bigger sin would be to have peas and carrots in the fried rice, at least they avoided that! General Tsos Chicken was sweet and goopy ick. Why do you have a pepper on the menu next to an item if there's no heat whatsoever in it? I asked about the shrimp and lobster sauce and she said it was a cream sauce. A cream sauce?? Wonderful food! Definitely the best place in Port to get Chinese! I wish they weren't closed on Mondays -- I'd rather they be closed Sundays. All the same, the food is great, but the atmosphere is lacking. The place is pretty dingy and dated and could seriously use some remodeling. The lady at the register, while efficient, should occasionally work on her interpersonal communication skills. You can definitely tell when she's having a bad day! read more

Best Chinese food in town! I get take out here at least once a week for me and my teenage son. Cream cheese wontons are a must here. Current favorites are Chicken Lo Mein and Szechuan chicken. I would also recommend their General Tso's chicken, Kung pao chicken, and the sweet and sour chicken. I have found their eggrolls and spring rolls to be quite good too. Light and crispy, not drenched in oil like many other places. I have tried most of their soups too and enjoyed all of them. I am working my way through the menu! read more

Just passing through town and wanted some Chinese food. I had the general tso's chicken which tasted great....it had the right amount of spice and it was crispy which I like as well. Just ordered general tsao chicken and fried dumplings for dinner. I was very disappointed with both choices. The chicken was dried up and fried too long. I couldn't bite through the pieces. The fried dumplings were very bland and the pastry part was fried too much. The edges were completely dried up on those also. I was trying to give them one more chance, but 3rd time isn't a charm for them. Won't go back. read more

We've lived in Port for many years and just recently a friend told us how good the food is here! We got take out and had awesome pan fried potsticker dumplings, not doughy like some, three kinds of soup and crispy chicken egg rolls. All great and reasonable! Very friendly, too! read more

We moved to Port 2 years ago this july(2013). We thought we knew what good Chinese food was, until we tried China King. This place is amazing. I don't know what it is, but everything is just better. The sweet and sour chicken is amazing and they give you a healthy portion. The steamed dumplings - fantastic. And their Crab Rangoon is the best I've ever had. Its alright -- about on par with the other chinese carry outs around. Nothing special, the General Tsa's chicken is greasy, too much breading, and not much chicken inside all that breading. There is not much spice. The sweet and sore was also heavily breaded. read more
