Placed and order for pickup when we picked up they handed my husband the wrong order, they called him and let him know he went back to get our order and they "recharged" him again....which he questioned as to why he had to pay again instead of just picking the correct order up....that's another story. Anyways the lady who handed him the order seemed "out of it" even the manager came and apologized and said "she's been messing up idk what's wrong with her". As far as the food..that's another issue. We ordered Mongolian beef which had majority vegetables, chili and sauce...I swear there was probably 5 - 7 tiny pieces of beef!!! Also ordered salt and pepper shrimp...which was soggy and had the bitter taste of flour to it. The noodles were decent, felt like there's wasn't any flavor.... We will never order here again after getting poor customer service and food. We'll just stick to our regular Chinese place!! read more

This restaurant is so not good. Idk about you guys but when I go to a restaurant I expect my food to be fresh and have a good taste. This was mine and my husbands first time trying out this Chinese restaurant. I never want to go out of my usual Chinese food spots, but I decided to go for it. Of course I was dissapointed. It's just not ok to make something look good on the menu and then receiving the masterpiece only to wait for the moment of truth. The noodles here tasted so old and their orange chicken tasted like old crayon..if that makes sense. Anyhow, stick to your regular guys. I do not recommend this spot. Wor won ton soup and house chow mein is tasty. However, I did not like being charged $1.00 for "American Style" noodles and another .50 to separate them from the wet topping to keep the noodles from getting soggy before I could get home. Growing up in Visalia, our family had Chinese food at least once a week from Hong Kong, The Pagoda, Tea Garden or Yet Sues. When ordering chow mein, we were asked "soft, or crispy noodle". Soft was our favorite, a patty of soft noodles lightly pan fried on both sides. There was no extra charge and they certainly did not call the soft noodles "American Style." It is a pity that this restaurant feels they need to nickle and dime their customers in order to make a living. read more

The noodles were really well done the rice was Kind've bland but the egg roll / Sweet and sour sauce made up for it. If I had to give this a score out of 10 I would give it a 8.2/10. The food is really good, however if you want to order food to go dont expect them to answer the phone. This has happened several times, I understand they are getting busier and busier. It is literally my favorite Chinese restaurant. I've been going here for a few years now. I even got my family loving it there. They know me and my daughter. It's always fresh and not like most Chinese restaurants where you can't change your dish to your liking. Here you can (depending on what). If you don't like you're chow main with veggies they can make it plain. The salt n pepper tofu is mine and my daughters favorite. We're not even vegetarian. The sizzling soup is SO good and cool to see your rice sizzling. The green bean chicken is also great the chicken is tender. Prices are reasonable, staff is always friendly, on top to provide you with excellent service, no matter how busy they are.Everything is always fresh. My favorite so far is the shrimp broccoli plate. They do not skimp out on the amount of meat. Also, they're fried rice. My sister always orders the chicken broccoli with white rice and it tasted pretty good, too. When you spend over half your life in LA's San Gabriel Valley and dine out locally, you're going to be eating and appreciating a lot of Asian food -- with the Chinese cuisine a big part of that. That familiarity makes it really difficult to have an open mind about Chinese restaurants outside of the "Chinatown areas" in other big cities. I really try, but end up writing off most of those encounters as "chop suey Chinese". Visalia does not have a "Chinatown", per se. So restaurants like this one are not trying to cater to a native Chinese taste. More likely, they are calibrated to the local palate. And for the locals, this place appears to be quite popular. It's a nice sit-down place with perhaps 30 tables and booths. The decor is a bit aged, but the restaurant is clean. It's good enough to bring our out-of-town guests for a casual dinner and not be embarrassed. Behind the cashier, there is a bar. I've never seen a patron up there in 20+ visits in 5 years. Most of the cuisine is Cantonese. There is a smattering of Taiwanese dishes. I've been able to order off menu ocassionally, but this seems to depend on the kind of dish I want to get. They know what I want; they just don't trust the chef at the time. I've seen that most people choose the preset combination dinners that are priced in the $10 range, and they are quite happy with what they get. I am, too. Service is very friendly. They have many regulars and the regulars seem to have a set order, so you can see that they are interested in their customers. In short, even though they don't cook the dishes that I like in the way I am used to, they do a decent job and I will continue to return to New China. read more

We were the only people last time and service was great, this time we were one of five and the service was not the best. That is why I gave them 3 stars. Yummy! I brought my 3 year old daughter here for a mommy/daughter date night and we both got our grub on! I ordered a dinner combo plate with sweet and sour chicken. The vegetable medley is so delicious! Our order came with soup, wontons and the wonton sauce. So dang good! Service was awesome. There were 3-4 other tables being serviced and 2 ladies working. And the "chow mien"?? don't even think about ordering pan fried..what you will get is something that looks like the CANNED crispy chow mien, and only a little bit of that because they load an absurd amount of bean sprouts on top!!! I visited New China on June 13, 2016, for lunch with a group of friends. There were about eight of us. It was midday and was not very busy. It was my first time eating there, and I was very surprised at how good the food was. I ordered a lunch special with orange chicken, chow mein, and pork fried rice. The establishment was immaculate and nicely decorated. There was a mild language barrier with the waitress, but it was not a big deal. I was very surprised that this restaurant was so good and so clean for being in a poor location. It is in the back of a quiet, not very popular shopping area and can't be seen from the main road. We've tried the moo shu pork, wor won ton soup, and most recently the sesame chicken. The first two items were wonderful. The sesame chicken, however, was awful. Though the flavor wasn't bad, the chicken was so dry and chewy that it tasted and chewed like straw. Much of the entree was breading without any chicken, or pieces so small you lost them. Will never order it or any of their breaded and fried entrees again - a total waste. read more
