New Design Floral is a petite little shop tucked away on Cherry St (ANOTHER Cherry St gem!!) The shop may be small but they definitely can fit a lot of BEAUTIFUL plants in there! You will find a ton of house plants, cute pots, and floral arrangements! New Design Floral even has an online shop with examples of plants they recommend for certain lighting in your house! (Bright light, indirect light, low light, etc.) Their service is simply phenomenal and we can't speak more highly of the employees that are always willing to help and answer questions! read more

Such a great place! I didn't need any floral services, but they offer that. I was there for plants on a whim. She showed me the best aloe she had and taught me how to pronounce calathea correctly. I bought both and they were priced very reasonably for a small business. Lots of fun and cute pots and little vessels I could imagine keeping little cuttings in. Don't sleep on it, it's a great place to pickup a houseplant! read more

I was deeply moved by this shop's willingness to go above and beyond to help me, then I was blown away by the amazing floral design they put together! I called late in the day on a Friday, right after I found out my friend's hospital room number. I'm 2000 miles away from Michigan and I had to randomly choose a florist, holy cow I picked the right one. Geniene helped me on the phone, despite the fact that shop was super-busy, she realized how much this meant to me and offered to help me out of the goodness of her heart. Within a matter of hours, she had come up with a stunningly beautiful floral arrangement and delivered it. I can't praise this arrangement enough, it was subtle and elegant but still a real statement piece. If I checked into a suite at the Ritz, this is the kind of arrangement I would expect to see in the lobby. My friend was thrilled to see it and I'm told they're getting tons of compliments and questions! Just now called and ordered flowers for a friend. It was so easy and quick with great advise as to appropriate size and type to send to someone in a hospital. I would highly recommend this business to anyone "out-of-town" who needs to order flowers or a plant for whatever reason. Very friendly and helpful and reasonable pricing. This shop quintessential East Town -- a small, locally owned gem that's delightfully and colorfully laid out. You can count on incredible customer service and special little gems you don't find other places (on today's visit, for example, my husband pointed out the gorgeous burnt umber "Kangaroo Paw" flowers. I love building my own bouquets here and picking out each stem with great care. When I selected one strand of the Kangaroo Paw the delightful clerk offered me half-off the second and last strand in the bucket because she said she hates to see "one lonely stem." While they do carry some of the standard fare (star-gazers, calla lilies, gorgeous snapdragons), I always try to put together a bouquet of things I've never seen at other florists. They do lovely things with succulents and have a nice variety of vibrant vases. It's a must-stop shop for me when I'm in this part of Grand Rapids and I always leave with a happy bounce in my step! read more
