Watched the managers wife literally attack several people at the door when they complained about their "new" policy that if you walk out the door and wish to walk back in you must pay full cover again! After the 4th time trying this place out in the past 3 years I've decided that's enough for me. I like dive bars, so my expectations for appearance aren't high. I do expect things to be good that you perform consistently. Pro, the food menu is extremely cheap and they have specials like $1 taco night. Con, the food is TERRIBLE. Fries had gross texture, grilled cheese is too much like plastic wrapping, salsa is watery soup, chicken wings meat texture and cooking makes you question the grease age. Drinks, beer is safe and your standard one spirit and soda mixture. Don't ask for any kind of cocktail, tequila sunrise tasted like they made it the day before and looked the same. Service, it's TERRIBLE, you just have to wait and hope eventually they acknowledge you. But I will say they are friendly, just all in all not where I want to go. Business must be bad here. Charging someone for a drink that was returned is not great business. Maybe train your bartenders better to start. If someone asks if they can make a not spicy Bloody Mary and you tell them you can, make sure it's not spicy. It's obvious that you don't have the capability of making a non-spicy Bloody Mary. The answer to my original question should have been answered with " I'm sorry sir, but we use a premade mix." I would have been okay with that and had my girlfriend order something else. No problem. She took one sip of the drink and it was too spicy for her. She immediately took the drink back and got something else. At the end of our visit there, I went to pay the bill. To my surprise the Bloody Mary was still on my tab. When I asked why it was still on there and if it could be taken off, the blonde bartender snapped back "I still have charge you for that!" and just walked off. Not awful. Not amazing. Worth the visit (for me) because of the proximity to the boyfriend's house. TV's are small, but so is the crowd, so it's easy to catch the game you're looking for. Service was slow on our visit, but friendly. I ordered the "Nacho Mountain"... And they ain't kiddin' about the mountain. Huge amount of food, and it was delicious. A little on the cool side though, and there was a similar complaint from a member of our party who ordered the wings. Decent prices and atmosphere, but not much else to offer. Horrible bar. Dirty. Bar service was weird/bad: bartenders were territorial about customers - so waiting for service took a really long time - even if three bartenders were standing there with arms crossed. Door staff (bouncers??) were all drunk, drank the entire night. 4-5 guys all standing at door - all looking to instigate fights and harass customers - which I saw them do 3 times - over nothing. One was a guy going outside to make a call. Charged $10 cover - but didn't stamp or use paper wrist bands. They even tried to start shit with the BAND. After the band was done with break and coming back inside, they went after the guitarist - over nothing! He had just walked in the door, and they started in on him - I think they were too drink too recall he was in the band. He told them off pretty good then got back to the stage. About 30min after that I tried to get my battery charger for phone from car - and as I went out the door the door guy (drunk, beer in hand) grabbed my arm and yells if I went outside I wasn't coming back in. What in the hell - I had paid my cover??? So I told him to get his hand off me and said I've been there for over 3 hours, paid my cover, and only went out once before that to keep a friend company while he smoked a cigarette. One dude yells "fuck you you're drinking outside". Which was idiotic to think that - I had already spent $80 at the bar (due did and drinks for myself and friends) and the majority of the night standing at bar waiting for service lol - right in front of the door, they absolutely knew I wasn't going outside to drink lol. So door guy and his 4 drunk friends threaten me - you go outside we dare you to come back inside. Dead serious. I figured at that point, badly managed, badly staffed, food was pathetic, they are idiotic enough to use aggressive alcoholics as door staff , which even harasses/threatens the band - screw this place lol. So I decided yeah, I'll cash out and leave. I even told em I was leaving, they were assholes, and I was going to cash out, and one guy still grabbed me - because I called them assholes lol. Which was the truth. I said if he didn't take his hand off me I in 2 second s I was going to defend myself, and he realized his buddies weren't so keen anymore so he let go. I was the 4th person they treated that way that night (that I knew of). In NONE of those incidents were any of the customers (or the band!!) loud, aggressive, drunk, or doing anything problematic - they probably just wanted to go outside to their car, like I did. Manager: fire these idiots. They are super bad for your business. I don't think the band will even come back, after the way they treated the guitarist. If you are going to charge a $10 cover - use a stamp or paper wrist bands - or, you know, don't hire an aggressive alcoholic and his 4 buddies to staff the door. Whichever. From reading previous reviews of this joint, you don't seem to give a shit about running your bar lol. read more

I don't usually bother with reviews but was surprised by New Direction Bar! It's one of a few FUN east end bars with bands, good bar food, pool tables and patio. It's casual nothing fancy but a lot of fun! We could tell many of the people were regulars. They were all cool and nice to us. We will go back! read more

We went before they started charging a cover charge usually before 9pm. They where well equipped with pool tables and a bunch of corn hole setups outside. Corn hole? Still haven't witness how it's played but just the name sounds funny especially if you're not from around here. I was asked if I wanted to play not too long ago and I thought it was some kind of a raunchy game. Guess not, they do take it seriously though. They had really attractive and nice servers from the other bars I've been. The people vary in age but a lot younger than the other bars I've been to. The food, well not too sure only thing I've had their was their nacho's . It was good with all the toppings. Drinks where serve fast never had to wait more than a minute or so. read more

This definitely seems like a local spot. My friend and I came here after getting mani/pedis nearby for some lunch and a birthday drink. There seemed to be many regulars, but we were still greeted quickly. Because we initially didn't know what we wanted to drink, we had to wait a bit to be waited on again and had to get their attention to order food. The bartender was nice and honest, helping us to decide between menu items. I remember us getting one appetizer, one meal and two drinks for under $30 with tip. I'm not sure if I will be back, just because of how far away it is from where I live, but I had a great experience. It has a nice local feel. This place smells funny and the bathrooms are gross. Yes, most of the bartenders have bad attitudes, but some are nice. The draft tastes funky so order a bottle. Words can't explain how awful this place is. We came here on a Saturday afternoon. Guests were fighting each other, the manager was threatening to call the police, and the bartender was chasing customers outside. According to the bartender they all had some issues with each other. Charged a $5 cover charge when we arrived. Sat at the bar and had couple of drinks. Noticed other customers coming in door, not paying a cover. When we questioned manager type person, we were told we were charged a cover because he didn't know us. Had not seen us before. He then took $5, threw it at me, and had us escorted out by LMPD. This is a rock band crowd. Old school bar. Bands on the weekends. Older crowd. Very casual. I'm very comfortable to go have a drink at the bar, by myself. The bartenders are very attentive. Iv never had worst food in my life the wings had to be like 10 minutes over cooked they were so hard it was jerky I don't complain about my food so I attempted to dip it in the "ranch" which was really I'm guessing sour cream so when I asked for ranch I was told they would have to charge me ....moving on the cheese fries were skinny like steak n shakes with about the whole tub of sour cream on top...the place needs bar rescue the glassware is plastic and smelled like a bathroom....and the service wasn't aweful but the one bar tender was having trouble keeping up with the 10 people there I will never return I tried giving it a try because everywhere in louisville was packed due to the beautiful weather and aside from the bad reviews I was starving and wanted to enjoy a beer on the patio but tht decision ruined my time I left to go eat at mcdonalds which I truly believe is better quality food I firmly suggest for you to not waste your time it would be really nice to have a bar in the east end the location has great potential but it now makes since why no one goes there read more
