The other day I was on my way home and saw an SUV there that caught my eye. It was obviously early 2000s, and that's about what I was looking for, so I decided to stop and see what the price was. I'm not necessarily looking, but I would like to upgrade the wife's car. All I wanted was the price and maybe take a peek inside. I wasn't even interested in a test drive. So I walk up to the car and don't see any price/data sheets. That's kind of common in Used Car Dealerships, so I asked a lady. She invited me to come in and we'd look at the price for the car. When we get to her office, she starts asking me name, address, phone, then SSN! I was shocked! "Why do you need that?" She informed me that they consider themselves a private lot and they run a credit report before they show any cars to anyone. I told her all I wanted was to know the price and options on the car. I understand if she wanted my license before taking it out for a ride (Wouldn't you?), but to run a credit check before showing, that's bogus! It's a used car, I'd just pay in cash anyways! I was obviously offended, so I asked for her manager. This young 20's guy comes in and starts off by giving me this spiel about how I must be a crook if I'm not willing to give up my SSN to prove that I am not and that they will not even give me a price unless they know I can afford it! I tried to help the guy out by explaining to him how bad of customer service this was. I wasn't yelling or anything, I purposely dropped my voice to almost a whisper. So he invited me to leave if I wasn't 'going to play by his rules.' Again, I understand getting someone's driver's license before letting them take it for a test drive. I understand running a credit report during the negotiation stage if someone is going to take a loan. But these employees were so rude that even if they had a 2016 mustang for $50 I think I might pass instead of trying to deal with them. read more

WORST dealership ever, extremely pushy, overbearing, high pressure sales tactics, dishonest, argumentative, rude, and insulting. Vehicles are over priced and trying to negotiate is out of the question so changed my mind and went elsewhere, got a better price and mileage on same vehicle. Went to the dealership to inform them and get my deposit back. The owner was hostile, verbally abusive, cursing and would not refund my deposit. Found out that do this on a regular basis as there are numerous complaints with the Better Business Bureau on file (read complaints on BBB website) and avoid this dealership at all cost. Should have done my homework, do yours and save yourself the aggravation! read more

First I would like to say .please don't buy a car from new england auto. I went there with my son because I know Drew thinking that he would really take care of us. I was so wrong . At the salesperson Abell yes was very nice and that's why I kept on saying don't worry about it we'll fix it don't worry about it we'll fix it whatever had to be done to that car that SUV he was going to fix it. It was not fixed. I had gone in there to drop my son's car off a few times because he could not take anymore time off from work because of this vehicle. I figured the shaking the car probably needed an alignment or a wheel balance I took it to Town Fair not only one but I took it to 3 and they told me that they would not be able to do anything because the two tires in the front or different than the two tires in the back brand . Then I proceeded to take it to another tire place they told me the same thing and because it's are all wheel drive you could ruin the car that way. Funny part is they never answer their phone they they just keep on passing you from one person to another I actually went there talk to Drew Drew told me to talk to the main mechanic alfredo that ended up being a real a****** talk to me like I was garbage and they need to get rid of him he is not a mechanic. Well I ended up calling their New York store and had a big complaint about the vehicle they kept the vehicle for 22 days put almost 1200 miles on it where they go on vacation with the car? So I spoke to Eric in the Queen's store which is called major world and he is a lawyer very nice but I still don't understand why a car dealer has to have a lawyer on the premises and they want, my song to sign a waiver and they will put two new tires on the car but that's one problem we have the other problem is we just found out there there might be a transmission problem and when we drove the car for a test drive it had this problem but they never fixed it. So I beg you please do not buy a car from New England Auto in Derby Ansonia please and I will tell everyone because I have a big mouth and I know I will tell a lot of people . so sad that we knew someone there and my son was treated that way . As they say what goes around comes around God I hope they go out of business. We should have went to Wiz in Stratford in Stratford that's what we bought all our vehicles if you want to go car and good treatment go to Wiz in Stratford . On Carfax the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica looked in excellent condition and very clean. We called to schedule an appointment and were not informed that the car was is very bad shape so it could not even be test driven as it had a flat tire and no working battery. We had to pump the tire ourselves so we could take it for a test drive. The car was nothing like the photos was dirty all around and scratched up on the outside with rusty brakes. The brakes made a lot of noise when you pressed down on them even gently. Just to even start the car they needed to jump start it as the battery was dead. The right-side door did not open and car displayed the door as constantly open. A/C turned on and off every 2 seconds. The staff where friendly but I can not recommend going their as it will most-likely be a wast of your time with cars that are not in any condition to be shown or test driven and are overpriced. read more

First time ever writing a review on a company or my opinion., a very unprofessional place of business. I had a salesman who I feel was truly a nice guy working in the wrong place. One man who came out and said he was the owner Mike spoke to me in my opinion very disrespectful. After negotiating with the salesman he agreed to a price$ 250 less than asking price andwas gping to waive the processing fee.We agreed and did all the paperwork, I placed a deposit and agreed to finance with them. That night I found the car was on the Internet for a $1000.00 less than I was told. Next day called for update on progress with no return. Days later after many phone calls I was told that the owner felt he could get asking price even ,after signing full contract and deposit. Any business that can't honor their own contract is NOT a place you want to do business. As a customer with great credit , I was disappointed by the owners work ethic and condescending attitude. I am still in alittle bit of shock right now.. My husband had gone to this dealership looking for a new (used) car yesterday, he found a 2012 Chevy cruise with low mileage for a decent price. As a married couple a big decision is not made alone so we took a ride down today so I can see the car and we can take it for a test drive. We spoke with a very young and energetic salesman who had just made his first sale (or so they said). As he was starting to gather information that would allow us to take the test drive(which my husband had set up yesterday )the owner walked over and introduced himself. (Very unprofessional looking, actually kinda shady) He made some small talk and then asked if we were ready to buy the car today. We explained we were in the process of looking and weren't sure which car would best suit our needs if any but we wanted to take the Cruise for a test drive.(again that we had already set up) It was at that point we were told that they don't do test drives on Saturdays and to come back when we knew what we wanted and when we ready to purchase a vehicle. Zero stars ! Walked in with my dad on a Sunday morning and we were greeted by an over weight sales guy who cared more about his ego rather than the answers we wanted. As we walked away he said "have a fun drive back to Stamford." So we (Dad and I) walked into another office next room to chat about our experience and was meant by the "manager" who again cared more about his ego rather than us. The (sales manager?) saw my poor review of them, and called to attempt to change my opinion, however in my opinion, would not hear out my complaints, and would talk "over the top of me" cutting me off in the middle of my statements. I was invited back to receive a second key FOB which they refused to supply initially, and fix the out of balance wheel they were supposed to fix before I picked up the car. I already got a second key FOB and had the wheel balanced at my expense. I would not go back to their service department even if they offered me free maintenance for 100,000 miles. read more

Would not let me test drive a car that I was interested in. They basically told me I had to commit to the car financially before I could test drive it, meanwhile the car had not been serviced, detailed, or safety inspected. The salesman then proceeded to bring out the owner of the company because he needed us to "mentally prepared" to commit to the car. - BEWARE - These people will quote that "car dealers are not sleazy". I have had a very different experience. They may treat their prospective clients with false courtesy, but they do not extend that to their employees. I submitted my resume on indeed and received four e-mails from them telling me how much they hope I can schedule an interview. Not one e-mail, but four. I did have an interview and was hired. I was scheduled for a 3 day orientation. At no time was I told that numerous others would be joining me and that people would be "cut" from the program. I worked for this company for 16 hours and was even sent on an off site secret shop with a multi-page report to fill out (my own gas, time, and hard work). At he end of the second day I was told to come in at 9 am the next day and bring $100 (which they said would be returned after 3 months if I worked out... fishy, but I wanted to be a team player). Now, during these days my soon to be fiancee was so proud and excited. We made sure I had any suits I needed and since I was told to get business cards made, I did. So, I arrived on the 3rd day with my $100 (plus what I had spent on clothes, business cards, etc.) and was promptly told that I was being let go. John Tracy refused to give any reason for this abrupt and shocking treatment. In the add it clearly stated PAID TRAINING. John Tracy refused to pay me anything for my 16 hours. He axed others the same way after they had paid their $100. These are people with families who were hired for a job and underwent unpaid training. Not to mention we all stopped looking for jobs that week, because we were told we were hired. I wasted time, money, and opportunities with other companies. This is a local used car dealership, not Donald Trump and the Apprentice. What right do these people have to treat others this way who are only trying to work and provide for families. I am striving to build a life with my girlfriend and this company spat on that. Why give me the run around at all? Why have me sign numerous papers, agree to drug testing, and tell me to return the very next morning with my $100?? Only to tell me "too bad". How dare anyone let a company operate like this. Please beware of these people: John Tracy and his henchman Jenny and New England Auto World. **Oh, I was also told to be grateful for the training I received. I have never written a Yelp review, and I never really complain about things, but New England Auto World was the worst experience I have ever had in an service industry, ever. This place has many bad reviews, and I am not surprised. When I first went to look at the car, every person I talked to was rude, treated me like an idiot, and plain disrespectful. I did decide to purchase the car because I was desperate at that point. I had to go back after signing all the paperwork, because Eddy told me I signed in the wrong spots, not that they made mistakes. I had a flat tire the other day and when I went to go change it myself on my work break, there was no spare tire or jack in the car. I could not believe they sold me a car without a spare or jack. When I called to ask where was my tire, they tried to tell me that my kind of car doesn't come with a spare or jack. I'm not sure what kind of car doesn't come with a spare and a jack, I guess mine, but my car also came with terrible sales people, financial departments, and poor, poor, service. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. If you are looking for a car, please look some place else, there are so many good places in CT. Best of luck! read more

I will preface this with I work in the automotive industry and I can honestly say this is the worst place I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. My dad was looking for a reliable pre-owned car on a very specific budget since his just had died. I did some research on used cars online as well as word of mouth. Unfortunately, New England Auto World was our first stop, a decision we would soon regret. My dad and I pull into the dealership on a Sunday, we were greeted by an older gentlemen named Drew who ended up being our sales person. We wanted to browse the lot and see some inventory without the hassle of someone trying to add pressure to the situation...that didn't happen. He told us he insisted he needed some information from us before we could look at the lot. Assuming this is is one of those dealerships that the sales manager makes it mandatory procedure for anyone looking at inventory, we follow Drew into his office and proceed to give him our names, phone number and email as well as a price range need to stick to. Once this was done, we had free range to the lot and Drew became very easy to work with. This makes me believe the sale personal are under excruciating pressure from management to get the sale, which makes it a very awkward work environment for the staff and customers alike. We are informed after looking at a couple of cars that this dealership is a wholesale dealership which there is no negotiations, and whatever damage are on the cars are sold "as is. " After hearing that we made an effort to make sure we find the cleanest cars possible to avoid any other hassle. We found 2 possible cars that would work for my dad and decide to discuss it in private, Drew told us to take our time and was going to make himself available when we were ready to discuss anything further. My dad and I decided to look at a couple of other dealerships before settling for something too soon. We told Drew this and he was very understanding and asked if there was anything he could do to earn our business, we politely said unfortunately we need a bit more time in deciding if this is the dealership we want to do business with and to figure out my dad's credit qualifications and whether or not we are going to be using a co-signer. As soon as I mentioned credit, he wanted to bring in his sales manager to make one final attempt to close the deal. The sales manager starts off extending his hand for a handshake and asking me "who are you?" shortly followed by "what brings you in today?" Clearly, poor customer service skills. We calmly reiterate that we are interested in 2 possible cars and just need to shop around and need to figure out if we re using a co-signer yet. He proceeds to brag about his 18+ years in the industry and any intelligent person would get a customer qualified before going further. I proceed to chime in, "why would I "qualify" him so soon when we haven't test drove anything, or made any sort of attempt of finding a co-signer for a better finance rate?" He continued to push for my dad to check his credit right then and there so they can try and make a sale happen with no benefit to my dad by rushing the process. After about 5 minutes of getting harassed by the sales manager, he finally said, "obviously you don't need me in this deal," handed us his business card and stormed out of the office. My dad and I were speechless of the lack of professionalism and the trail of slime that followed the manager as he left. We parted ways with Drew and promptly left. My dad found a better deal at another dealership for a similar car we were originally looking at, treated him with respect, gave him a luxury experience compared to the lack luster scheme of a dealership they call New England Auto World. read more

They had a large amount of cars but only two of what I was looking for. I was the first person to put a deposit on the car and was paying in cash for them to not honnor that was wrong. DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. Do not trust the 5 star reviews you see on here, they make you review them positively when buying a car. The truth is, they are pushy, hide things and will give you the run around. When you decide you no longer want to purchase a vehicle from them they treat you like you dont exist. I went in and dealt with a salesperson that wasnt returning my phone calls claiming he was so busy (they have max 5 people walk in per day between 3-4 sales reps) so i dealt with Travis instead. Travis was my best buddy until they couldnt get my payment where i wanted it. Then he also stopped responding. Do not allow them to push GAP coverage and the extended warranty on you, its illegal. They tried telling me the bank made it a requirement (which they cant i called the attorney general) After calling them out on it they no longer returned any texts or phone calls. Just wasted 5 hours of my Sunday (4/29) driving up to see an Escalade listed. Had called twice yesterday to verify car was still available and letting them know I would be visiting today. Car was in their shop and from the amount of dust on it, it had been there for a while. Could not drive it, could not even start the engine, because 'I could get the wrong idea about the car'. More like I would get the right idea. They had also changed the wheels on the car, and the seats were not the ones shown in pictures (most likely pictures from their other Escalade, which is $10k more for 10k miles less). Finally the car was missing the power retractable boards that are clearly shown in the pictures. Best part was when their representative tried to convince me that the car never had boards. All of these Escalades had running boards, some of them had them fixed, others had them power retractable. This car originally had them power retractable, evident from the button to control them in the interior. Showed Anthony the pictures on their website with the boards, he then could not even tell me whether they were going to replace them on the car (most likely they are now planning on selling it with the fixed boards). Overall the car may have been ok if I visited them in a week, but the attitude of 'no, there were no boards, oh yeah there were boards, not sure what will happen now, and you cannot even run the car right now' certainly did not inspire confidence. They want $22k+ for a vehicle (and an extra 1000 if you do NOT finance), this is not the way to sell it. Beware of their best deals... read more

I am a former mechanic and have the job of looking for a car for my granddaughter. Happened to see a 2007 Ford Focus listed on their site for just under $3000 which is below book valued from a dealer. Car looked nice in the pictures. Called and made an appointment to see it. I mentioned to the salesman about being a mechanic looking for a family member. When I arrived I met the salesman and before sitting down he said the car would need at least $1000 worth of work in which I said that put the price out of reach. I also said it would have been nice if I was informed prior to driving there. I asked what was needed and he did not know. After discussing a few things he took me to see the manager for more answers. The manager said all the cars the take in need 1K-2K worth of work. This meant they did not even inspect the car. I was a bit t'd off and it probably showed. The manager was not interested in trying to satisfy me and went as far to say "I am not the person who should be looking at the car, the buyer should be there", to which I stated I was authorized to look for the car for them and they would purchase after I gave the OK. In my opinion with the managers attitude he had no interest in selling to me. The reviews I've seen for this outfit are either good or bad, nothing in between (quite a few 1 star). I have no doubt that someone could have a good experience but for me it was as bad as it gets. In my opinion the low price is to get you in and then the final price is after what repairs have been negotiated. read more

Worst experience of my life. I am a 28 year old woman who went into this dealership with a SET budget in mind, no exceptions. After letting the front desk representative know exactly what I was looking for, I was greeted by a sales rep whose first statement out of his mouth was "a pretty, well dressed girl like you should not be in a shit car like what you're looking for. Let me show you these higher priced cars". I told you exactly what I wanted. I am not interested in your bullshit or your passive aggressive and vey unprofessional way of hitting on me in a "professional" setting. After about a half hour of the I told you what I wanted game and still being shown cars WAY out of my known budget, the owner came out, who was a condescending prick. For the first 15 'minutes of this conversation, he went on explaining how much money he brings in and how many different dealerships he owns. Buddy, I don't care how wealthy you are and honestly the fact that you have to brag about it makes me think you are trying to over compensate for other things you are lacking in. Nice try. In the end I left this place feeling more stupid than when I walked in. Please drive completely by this place if you even have the thought to stop. You will be glad you did. read more
