I had already read positive reviews (specifically about Tim), so when I went in for the first time was excited to discover that Tim would be working with me. From there I did a lot of on-line research to narrow down what I liked/didn't like while Tim worked on finding the right diamond. We have used the team at New England Jewelry for everything! They've done repairs on the simple like watches to antique family items but also the big gifts like wedding and baptism. The most fun has been when they did a custom designed emerald and diamond ring for our mom's 65th birthday. The team is so great. Their jewelry is comparable to any other place. However, the sales person (possible owner) Ken was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with! After deciding not to use NEJ services, I received a phone call from Ken threatening me about going to another jeweler. Stating something along the lines of, "If they mess up your ring, don't come crying back to me. They will, and I don't want to see you in my store trying to get their work fixed." Mind you, this was a simple $130 ring adjustment. The 'manager' is rude. I don't know his name - he didn't introduce himself - but he is older and taller than the salesman and has white/grey hair. There is a younger salesman with medium brown hair who is very pleasant and tried to make up for his boss, but I will never return. Double check the quality of craftsmanship - the diamond tennis bracelet I looked at was a mess. There are so many other options I can't imagine why anyone would chose this one. We stopped into New England Jewelers and we couldn't have felt more welcomed. We were assisted right away, when we mentioned our budget, the manager didn't turn us away or continue to show us things out of our price range. Instead he pulled out a gorgeous collection of vintage style rings which was exactly what I wanted. He worked with us to customize the setting style and helped us choose the perfect stone. He was interested in our story together and really cared about us as people and no just as paying customers. The quality of the rings here were far superior to the unoriginal chain store jewelers and they wanted to take the time to let me play with many ring styles to find the one that was perfect for me. My fiance guestimated my ring size to be a 4, but they insisted on making it a size 6.5 to "be on the safe side", even though it is well known that you should only resize up or down by about 1.5 sizes. When we went back to get it resized, they said it would be "a big job because they have to size it down to a 4.25, even though they are the ones who insisted on making it so large in the first place, AND insisted it wouldnt be a big deal to resize it. We flew to boston JUST to get it resized, and the jeweler was out of town, but the salesperson said it would have taken more than 3 days anyway because it was such a big job to resize it 2 sizes. In resizing the ring, they reset one of the stones crooked and left noticeable dings in the prongs. I am very dissatisfied with my engagement ring, which is an unfortunate way to begin an engagement. I absolutely do not want to go back to them to get it fixed. Obviously the engagement was a surprise, but if it were up to me, I absolutely would not have gotten my ring here. They also tried to charge us to ship it back which they didn't mention when we initially had it resized, but when my fiance's dad called, they did not charge him, so I felt they were trying to con me out of a penny just because I didn't make the original purchase. read more

I have had my ring for about 6 months or so. They recommend to come in and get it cleaned as often as I would like. Two weeks ago on a Thursday, I noticed a film over my diamond. "This jeweler, specifically Kenneth Begin of New England Jewelry is a very rude man who does poor quality jewelry. He is kind and helpful at first and then if you encounter problems, he will treat you in a very condescending and nasty manner. He is unethical and untrustworthy, no sense of customer service, remorse, or class. It was clear he was only interested in closing the deal. The process of getting my ring was simple and smooth. The day I put it on for the first time the setting bent and a diamond fell out.... We brought the ring back to have it repaired and he returned it not fixed. It was very sloppy work -the setting was still crooked. We brought it back again and when I told him I was concerned about wearing the ring he yelled at me and asked me if I wanted to be part of the problem or the solution, treating me and my fiancé like we were children. He also told me I was too rough with the ring, I had only worn it for hours...to this day I have only worn the ring for about a month total and I've been engaged for 8. This went on for several months, he would never fix it he would re-bend it and it would be worse each time. This ring was brought back to him 4 times at this point, and each time we were there he would not speak to us until all the other customers had left the store..... He never properly fixed it in the beginning and the setting was more bent and more crooked each time he returned it plus I lost a diamond day 1! He continuously contradicted himself, tried to charge us to fix his poor quality. One time he changed the entire integrity of the ring so we had to have him change it back, then all the prongs were uneven , the setting was not straight and I have now lost two diamonds. We brought it to a new jeweler who said the ring setting was a lemon and it looked like it had been worn for 30 years with cracks in the metal! We brought it back to New England jewelry and he (being nasty as usual) said he would send it out but that we should bring in a metal expert to prove it was a bad setting..... About 6 weeks later after calling repeatedly he was finally "in the office" and said it was ready. He never sent it out.... He changed my whole design and it was unbelievably sloppy work. Sharp pieces of metal were sticking out in the band, it looked like he stuck the baguettes in a glob of metal, everything was crooked.... He then threw the ring at my fiancée when he wasn't happy with the work and said he wasn't touching it again. I have never seen a professional treat customers this disrespectfully or had a piece of jewelry put together so poorly. We are seeking legal action and filing with the BBB. I would never recommend this jeweler to anyone. I am getting married in 2 weeks and most likely won't have my ring." My wife posted this months ago on several other review sites. Once again, New England Jewelry saved the day for me. I am leaving for vacation in a couple days and my watch battery died. To replace it in the past, I have had to send it to TAG HEUER, wait a couple weeks, and pay $200 - $300. NE Jewelry changed the battery, while I waited, for less than $20!! I am so thrilled I will have my watch for vacation. At $200+ to change watch battery, I was questioning whether I keep this watch. But with New England Jewelry in the neighborhood, I can use and enjoy this watch for many more years. When I return from vacation, I am going to bring them my MOVADO watch that has been sitting in my drawer, unused, for over 10 years!
