As soon as I met Paul (owner), I knew I wanted to give him my business. He was honest, friendly, and helped me feel comfortable as a CUSTOMER rather than another sale. We immediately talked price range and he refused to push me into anything above what I said I was comfortable with. He special ordered a few diamonds in for me to see the next day because he had some that were below and above what I was looking for but not quite in my "sweet spot". When I returned, he had them all ready to go and took me out in the parking lot to see them under the sun! We went through each diamond and he pointed out what he liked and didn't like about each one. In the end, I purchased a beautiful ring and Paul delivered within a few days. He even opened early for me on a weekend so I could sneak out to pick it up. Simply excellent. Bellestar will be my "go to" place for gifts in the future. Don't even consider anywhere else!

In addition to the local honey, organic baby spinach greens and mussels I purchased, I noticed a table filled with interesting jewelry. At the table I met a local artist by the name of Derith Meyer. I was immediately attracted to the tumbled glass necklaces and earrings she'd made and had for sale. The jewelry had many of the colors I'm drawn to such as muted blues and pales greens. A necklace in particular struck my fancy and with Derith's help I tried it on and a sale was made. Her prices are very reasonable. She also has the ability to take credit cards which isn't always the case at markets like this. Her website isn't up and running at this point so she's mainly selling at farmers markets. Look for her on Saturdays in Hingham. I've already decided I'll be back next week to purchase another necklace or two for friends of mine with birthdays coming up. And maybe I'll get some matching earrings for my necklace. I like supporting local artists and craftspeople. Farmers markets make it easier for these folks to showcase their wares. I love these markets and I'm always on the lookout not only for local sources of food but for other delights like handmade jewelry. This was a good find for me yesterday. I brought in my antique engagement ring that was incorrectly resized by a previous jeweler…read moreresulting in an oval shank. I had concerns about the ring spinning despite resizing. Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. I will absolutely be returning for intermittent ring checks!
