They are way overpriced, be careful. Went to downsize a ring, the women with the irish accent immediately asked me where I got it? She then tested the diamond to see if it was real. I didn't ask for this and only wanted to downsize the ring. Once she tested the ring, she didn't say anything. I asked what she was doing and she stated, "I tested the diamond to see if it was real. I asked her was it real ? She hesitantly stated, "yes". She then informed me to downsize the ring it would cost $400. A couple days later when it was not ready, I did further research and discovered I was being way overcharged. I went to the store to retrieve my ring and the women said, "We don't have it is with the Jeweler." She then immediately said wait let me double check. She then came back and handed me my ring (she appeared rather upset). I left the store and upon going to the next jewelry store, I was told it only cost $160 to downsize the ring. I told the jewler the $400 price Higham Jewlery store was charging me and he laughed and said, " Wow, I don't want to say to much but they are unbelievable." Okay, actually the gun was attached to the security guard they have there, and that should give you a good indication that this is a place that sells quality merchandise. I went there to get a few links on my new watch's band removed, and they did a fantastic job. Service was great. How great? Well, whenever I've gone to have it done at other places, they try to do it in one shot. The result has often been that it's too tight, and there's something about having to add back links that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. But at Hingham Jewelers, the person helping me said that she wanted to do the first pass a bit loose so that she'd have a better idea about how much to do the final fitting. And it came out perfect. That's attention to detail. The layout of the place is great. They have a main level which is their showroom, and then a raised second level which you can peer through the windows where they have an on-site goldsmith. Seriously, how cool is it for a jewelers to actually make jewelry in-house? The other major plus is that they have the cheapest gas in Hingham about 30 meters away at Hingham Gas, so you can get great jewelry/watches/service as well as saving some money at the gas station. I walked in asking about repairs with just over a week before Christmas and was okay with the reality that they might not be able to have the repair done in time. I went back with my husband's necklace and charm to be fixed, explaining how sentimental these items were to my husband and was reassured that they would take the utmost care and attempt to have it back to me in time for the holiday. I was treated with such warmth and professionalism by Emily! And, the woman who expertly repaired my husband's chain (and charm!) did so in just one day! Back in plenty of time to surprise him for the holiday. I have never been treated with such warmth and respect, especially in an industry where it is common to give less attention to customers who aren't spending a lot of money. Awful customer service. I went in to just get my watch band shortened and I was told by the Salesman that they can but I have to leave it there. Then out of nowhere a very rude woman asks me condescendingly, "what day is it today?". I reply confusingly, "friday". She responds laughing at me "it's a week before Christmas, what do you expect?" I brought my Tag Heuer Kirium watch in for repair as the clasp would no longer click shut. Several South Shore jewelers would not even look at it. After doing some research online, I was dreading if I needed a new clasp or a new bracelet. Since Hingham Jewelers is an authorized retailer of Tag Heuers, I brought it in. They took my watch, used a few tools and in less than 5 minutes it was fixed. They refused to accept any payment. The gentleman who fixed it, shook my hand and I was on my way. Not only is this place still licensed and certified to sell Rolex watches, it stands behind its reputation of service and excellence. Despite the past robbery here a few years back it is now more secure than ever with a door buzzing system and even a full time security guard. After all it contains one of the largest selections of Rolex and other fine watches and loads of other jewelry selections. In my case I was searching for a speciality Rolex that no other jewelers in the area stocked and this place was the last call I made and they had it. Not only did Dave the owner hold it for me, he ensured it fit and explained the difference between this watch and my previous Rolex. First of all Hingham Jewelers is my go to place for those unique gifts that you need for not only special occasions but for yourself too. I along with several of my nieces and nephews visited the store last week looking for a couple of gifts for an upcoming birthday and first communion. I was fortunate enough to work with Joe and he suggested several crosses for which the kids could choose one for their cousin. Needless to say they are looking forward to giving the beautiful cross to their cousin. Once that was done, the kids were able to go to the special children's area that Hingham Jewelers has in the store.
