Thanks to a lousy/lazy/cheap builder it was only held on by four nails into wood that was deteriorating from water leaking in over time. If not for the chimney pipe, the whole pan would have blown off and away. Steve wasn't able to come out that afternoon, unfortunately, so we did a quick fix of our own to get us through the rain and avoided water in the house. Thankfully have a very quick thinking spousal unit! Steve and his assistant (wish I could remember the other guy's name now, but he was really nice) came out the next morning. Little unnerving watching them get up on a steep pitched roof, no safety belts, with shingles that are degrading (sad on a 13 year old house) and scrambled up like it was no big deal. Steve straddled the main roof line, eyed the chimney and scowled. Not reassuring. Turns out the existing chase was all rusted on top, since it was plain old sheet metal, not stainless steel, and wasn't sloped properly so water went in, instead of off. They did a temp fix, renailed the chase along the sides, instead of on the top so it wouldn't lift again and caulked holes. He quoted us for a new custom stainless steel chase ($1K) and installation of $200. The repair job was only $100. From the time we accepted the quote, to job finished was only about a week. It looks good, fits well, and we like the service. :)

They come annually to clean our chimney and check out the wood stove. The guys are always polite…read moreand they take care not to make a mess. Highly recommend.
