A small comfortable space located on Highway 7. This udon bar is a must try for all noodle lovers. I've heard lots of people raving about the spot, and was so excited to try it out! They are known for their chicken curry udon and spicy cream udon. So that was exactly what my friend and I ordered - as well as takoyaki for our appetizer to share. Both udon dishes were absolutely delicious. The chicken curry was very flavourful. There is a creaminess to it, and the curry flavour wasn't too overpowering. The chicken was tender and soft! The spicy cream udon was to die for. It has a very familiar taste to it. They definitely did not cheap out on the seafood (the shrimp and mussels were so tasty)! I would definitely come back here to try more items on their menu - everything looked so good.
Food was just okay. The udon quality is better than the ones from a grocery store, but it doesn't seem like it's made fresh in-house. This is fine for a casual dinner uptown, but doesn't compare to Raku or Zen Sanuki. Service was mediocre. I was having a rough time and my friend took me here for dinner. He asked the server if we could have a booth. The thought behind it was to have more privacy to chat while we ate. She said no and it's for groups of 3 or more and just us 2 isn't enough. She proceeded to give the two booths each to a pair of diners who walked in after she turned us down. Just very rigid and hypocritical. I would still come here in the future if a friend really wanted to go, but it wouldn't be my first pick. So many restaurants and anything less than excellent is a no.
Had this in my bookmarks and we were craving for something hot on a cold day. We were a large group and they don't have a lot of seating so we had to wait. Ordered the buta udon which came in a soy sauce broth with some pork belly slices. It was a lighter dish, but didn't have much flavour. Ended up asking for their spicy sauce to add to the udon. Perhaps I should have tried a different udon dish on the menu. The karaage chicken tasted great though!
Mikaku Udon Bar is a hidden gem in Richmond Hill. We recently visited this restaurant for dinner and really enjoyed the food and attentive service here. On the menu, they offer a couple choices of appetizers such as tofu, karage, takoyaki and varieties selections of udon. We tried the spicy soupy seafood udon, chicken curry udon and fried chicken for our meal here. The spicy udon was just mild spicy and had good portion of seafood. The curry chicken udon was my favourite with that cream and sweet taste. Chicken karage was also good. The waitress provided very friendly and efficient services throughout the meal, food quality and price was also reasonable. My only small complaint about this place is the portion of udon noodles and karage are all too small. Even small eaters wouldn't feel full with a bowl of udon. Given the quality of food and service though, I would definitely revisit and try more dishes on their menu.
The store is small, tucked in the corner of the mall, not easy to find. The entrance is narrow and a little messy, but once you enter, the interior decoration is pleasant with nice music. We actually came a couple of times before, there was a long line, the waiting time was more than 20 mins. When we arrive at 6:00pm today on Saturday, it was almost full. We ordered Maze Udon, Buta Udon and Curry Udon, all very tasty with different flavors. The buta udon soup really yummy. The curry udon has the most value, as it has big volume. Maze udon is very similar to what we had in Tokyo. The price has not increased much in the past few years, so it is not that expensive now. The service is quick and straight forward. Will come back to try their other items.

Found this place while scrolling through Yelp so we stopped in for a quick lunch. Address is Hwy 7 but it's not easily seen from the street. It's at the back of the same strip mall as My Wonderful Kitchen and Yoga Tree. It's on the smallish side with just under dozen tables but interior is very pleasant. There is one unisex restroom. We stuck with broth based udon. What was ordered: Buta Udon Soy sauce based broth with thin slices of pork belly top off the udon. Feedback was that the amount of pork belly was quite good despite being on the smaller side. Flavour of the broth had hints of sweet and smoky. Oden Udon Oden with udon. The portion of fish cake was quite good and the broth wasn't bad either. The skewer of sausage (hot dog) and rice cake was a nice addition. Udon bowls only come in one size and while portions are okay if you are a bigger eater you will need to add an appetizer to your meal. Prices range from 15-19 dollars for bowls of udon. Service was decent...we were checked on a couple of times during our meal. We would come again to try other items.
AMAAAAAAZING. SO GOOD. Loved it. Didn't wait long for a Friday nite. It's quick service. And the udon was just so good Will definitly come back. Chicken curry udon and maze udon are the faves. Maze is soooooo filling. Bring your stretchy pants.
I heard this is one of the best udon restaurants in the area so I was excited to try. The restaurant is pretty small and they don't take reservations, so it's first come first serve. No more than a group of 4 is recommended. This location is predominantly an udon restaurant with some appetizers and sake drinks available. We got the Chicken Curry Udon, Maze Udon, and Spicy Creamy Udon from the soupless side and they all have pretty good flavours. The Buta Udon from the soup udon side was pretty good as well, but that's when we noticed that the portions are quite small. There just weren't a lot of meat and udon in the bowl and considering that the price is close to $20 per bowl, it felt a bit overpriced. We mentioned that to the serve and she was only able to give us some rice but not more udon which was disappointing. Overall, the udon was quite tasty and I liked the texture, but the portion was just too small for the price and the value just wasn't there.
Located in a small plaza on hwy 7 where there's Yoga Tree and lot of parking. This is a smaller restaurant meant for smaller parties. I think if you had 6+ it would be hard to accommodate. No reservations allowed either. Spicy Creamy Seafood Udon- tasted like carbonara! There is definitely a kick to it after but it's not that bad Curry Udon- more cream than curry taste. Found the chicken to be very thin Buta udon- nice warm udon Overall it's good but nothing special. For the cost vs portion, I think there could be more udon/ toppings. Nice to try once but not sure worth the hype
My boyfriend and I went to Mikaku Udon Bar for a quick meal. This was a month ago and we are still dreaming of Mikaku udon bar. The portion was very generous for the price, but what really got us was HOW DELICIOUS everything was. Came out super fast, super hot, and super delicious. Location: There is a parking lot, so a lot of parking. I believe there are other locations as well. This one in particular is on the smaller side, so expect a wait during busy hours. It's worth the wait!!
This is my first visit here with a friend. It's comparable to other Mikaku restaurants, and I enjoyed the udon very much. The service was efficient, with staff regularly checking on us to see if we needed anything. The restaurant is somewhat small, so while the wait isn't excessive if you arrive early, expect a longer wait later in the day.
I return back to this restaurant (eat in & takeout) at least once a month since I've found this gem of a place. Their creamy udons to be specific are amazing. Love how it's a fusion of different cultures with Asian culture as well. My all time favourite dish is the spicy cream udon (but hold the spice). It comes with a bunch of seafood too which pairs nice with the sauce. 10/10 rating from me. Love how they're able to adjust the spice level for me. We also ordered the chicken curry udon. Personally not my favourite but still just as yummy! 4/5 from me. The spice (not spicy) is just fairly strong for me. I've also had the buta udon (not pictured) which is just a simple and tasty soup based udon. It's your typical udon bowl but soo delicious and great for a cozy udon meal. Service is always phenomenal and there always seems to be a table available even during peak hours but the restaurant is always busy! Never had to wait. Very clean place and cutely decorated.

November 13, 2025 - I got the Chicken Curry Udon and my girlfriend got the Veggie Tofu Udon. I really enjoyed the Chicken curry Udon. The sauce was very cream and the noodles were chewy and cooked to perfection. There was also a lot of flavour in the curry as per usual curry. Really good. Would recommend. read more
The taco wasabi had a strong wasabi taste, which was delicious with the octopus. The chicken curry udon was so creamy and the curry taste was not too strong. The crispiness of the chicken really stood out as the chicken was cooked well. The buta udon had a lighter taste and the pork belly was cut into thin slices. Both udon dishes were just as good as I imagined. The service was straight to the point and the waitress gave us more time to pick our dishes when our first pick was sold out. The ambiance was simple and calm. It was a busy day when we went, so there was moderate noise. I would definitely come back again to try the spicy cream udon. read more

Came by to try it and wash not disappointed. Will need to come back to try other stuff. The staff is super friendly and quick. The inside is not huge but seating is comfortable. Be careful the udon comes in hot and stays hot. Would recommend. read more

Went here my with friend, honestly really good portion sizes, plenty of karaage. My friend said they enjoyed their chicken curry udon, though they would have liked more of the chicken... I had the spicy cream udon, they had a surprising amount of mussels and seafood, with a Thai chilli spice level. Overall, a pretty interior, kind service and solid food!! read more

Super creamy udon! Soo good I went back twice in one week. Location is a bit small so there's sometimes a line up, but it does go fast. Limited menu and they do each dish well. There's about 4 of the soup based udon and 4 non soup based. The curry chicken udon is soo good! Decent portion with sooo much sauce!!! Enough to eat it all in one sitting or take half home. Chicken karaage is also super crispy and comes with fresh veggies. Prices are about $20 a dish. Already been twice but would definitely go again! read more

I saw this on an instagram video that Ali tahini tried with the insta ramen guy and the dish they ordered looked so good I had to try it. I got two chicken curry don each udon is almost 20 bucks, pretty big dish I shared with my wife and my parents ate one. The service was really quick and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The dish was really hot it was made fresh. The chicken was crispy and not soggy at all, and the chicken curry and the broth was so good with the noodles and not spicy wish it had a bit heat but the broth was phenomenal. When you come here this is a must to order, the chicken katsu was phenomenal, melts in your mouth crispy on the outside perfectly cooked on the inside. The restaurant was very clean, and staff was very attentive, worth the trip, excellent udon. read more
Came here for dinner and had a great time! The restaurant is clean and we were seated right away. The food came pretty quickly after we ordered. The Oden Udon and the Spicy Cream Udon balanced each other out really well. Both tasted amazing - really nice flavors and not too salty or overpowering in any way. I didn't find the spicy cream udon to be too spicy so it was really enjoyable. The onigiri was delicious as well - super packed with flavors and tasted great. I really enjoyed all of the food we ordered here. It's definitely one of my favourite spots to go for udon in the area now. read more
We arrived promptly when they opened and were seated right away. The service was great. The server noticed me rubbing my arms and immediately offered to turn down the AC. The food arrived PIPING HOT which is a major plus. My partner got the chicken curry udon which tasted very cheesey. I got the Oden udon, and I dipped the race cakes (very crispy!) and fish cakes in my partner's curry sauce haha. The Oniguri was good but not something I could get again as it wasn't "special". The presentation was very nice though! All in all, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes udon and fusion cuisine. read more

Very small place but the food was good. I got the chicken curry udon and I've been craving it since. The flavour is nice, can get a bit filling if you've already eaten beforehand. My friend got the maze udon, which was so-so. It reminded us both of joongs (rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo). It tasted alright but it wasn't anything special. Service was okay. Nothing bad but nothing great. read more

Whenever restaurants have a small menu, it usually means that they do those few dishes very well - that is exactly the case with this place! -NEW [ODEN UDON] $16.99 This is a new addition to their menu that I just had to try :') Consisted of assorted oden, onions, radish, rice cake & sausage skewer that is all served in a deliciously hearty anchovy dashi broth! I would definitely gravitate towards this on a cold day, or if I was feeling under the weather (I'd get it to go if I was under the weather) -[CHICKEN CURRY UDON] $17.99 This dish is a made out of a creamy curry sauce that have onions, and bok choy in it. It is also topped with the most delicious chicken cutlet ever. Super delicious, and not spicy at all if that's a concern for you! -[MAZE UDON] $16.99 This dish is a soupless udon but still extremely delicious and flavorful! The dish also has dried bonito, pork, green onion, chives, garlic, dried seaweed, egg yolk, and sesame. Once you finish off the udon, they also give you a bowl of rice to pair with the rest of the sauce as well :D aka you could easily make two meals out of it -[CHICKEN KARAAGE] $12.99 I have never actually tried this appetizer before from them depsite having dined here several times but wow, I would definitely order it again! It is served with their homemade karaage sauce, and a side salad. I'd say it's pretty good for sharing if you come with a small group :) read more
I stopped by on a saturday evening w/ my gf for dinner. There's ample space in the parking lot and the resto is located in the same plaza as The North Taiwanese Restaurant. Very cozy spot w/ bar seating, some booth and a few tables. As for the menu, it's quite simple and no frills. We got takoyaki, chicken curry udon and maze udon. Takoyaki: The outside was crispy on some pieces but soggy on some. Not too consistent. Flavour of the dough was good. Well seasoned. The octopus could've been more tender. A decent takoyaki but I've had better. Maze udon: Very good! The give you some rice after you finish your udon to mix w/ the leftover goodies and sauce in the bowl. It's considered mild spicy (I thought it was mild as well) but my gf thought that the spice built up over time haha. Chicken curry udon: Super rich and creamy. The chicken cutlet was also juicy and fried well. I wish they would've given more chicken but the udon itself was good and the curry sauce was delicious. Idk if the udon is made in house or not but the food tasted good! This place is on par w/ Zen Sanuki Udon in Scarbs (my friend swears they have the best udon but I couldn't taste that much of a difference). I do like that this place is a lot cheaper than Zen Sanuki though. read more
Mikaku was my first meal after landing in Canada and it improved my appetite from an exhausting flight and lack of sleep. The interior of the restaurant was small and the design of it reminds me a bit of the restaurants in Japan. There is bar seating that oversees the chefs preparing the dishes, and past that are table seatings. I absolutely love udon and I really like that you can choose between a soupy or dry udon. I ordered the Maze udon and it consists of a spicy creamy sauce with lots of minced pork, green onion, seaweed, garlic, egg yolk, two sides of pickled vegetables and a small dish of vinegar to add for taste. You are even given a bowl of rice to mix in with the remaining sauce after you finish the udon. The sauce was super umami and I enjoyed every bite. The coating of the geso karaage is inconsistently thick in some parts, so parts of it were a bit hard. Everything else was wonderful, especially the service. The waitress was attentive and super sweet with explaining how to eat the Maze udon, how to use the provided vinegar. The moment I finished the last bite of my udon, she was already walking over with a fresh bowl of rice. read more
Came here for dinner and the food was really good!!! It is fairly small so there was a 20 minute wait (Friday night). The menu has 4 soup & 4 non-soup options and lots of appetizers. Their popular dishes all seem delicious so it was hard to decide, but I ended up choosing the Maze Udon. It had really good flavours and lots of sauce - I liked it more than I expected. The udon noodles had the perfect chewiness and the rice bowl at the end was a nice touch to get all the sauce. My bf got the spicy cream udon and it was my favourite. Super delicious sauce with a good level of spice. However, he said the seafood wasn't fresh. Our friend got the chicken curry udon and the sauce was also creamy with really great flavour. Lastly, our food took a while to arrive... but other than that the service was standard and overall I would highly recommend Mikaku Udon Bar. read more

Ever since I found out about Mikaku Udon Bar, I've been coming here ever since! This is often my favourite spot to meet up with friends for dinner, or to recommend to foodies for local good eats in Richmond Hill. The udon here never disappoints; the udon texture is chewy, and the flavours of the broth/sauce are really tasty! There are now 8** udons you can choose from (4 are soup based, and 4 are non-soup based) ** Mikaku just added the NEW Oden Udon last month ^^ with lots of fish cakes, and in an anchovy dashi broth! My go-to is always the Veggie Tofu Udon. The broth is clear and light. It is perfect for when I'm under the weather or when I want something not so heavy for dinner. Many people recommend the Spicy Creamy Udon (with seafood), and the Curry Chicken Udon. I have to agree; they are both so creamy and delicious! It is a little on the heavier side, so I would recommend sharing it with someone! Psst, there is a whole NEW alcoholic beverage menu - you will find bottles of regular sake, fruity sake, and beer options as well! read more

I've been wanting to try this place after seeing all the rave on TikTok and it did not disappoint! I came here with some friends who were all very happy with their meals too. Takoyaki (4/5): a little small and not as crispy as I would've liked but still very tasty. Spicy Cream Udon (5/5): this was super creamy and had just the right amount of kick to it. It came with 3 pieces of baguette that was great for dipping into the sauce. Maze Udon (4/5): this has a unique taste to it and very interesting concept. They give you a bowl of rice to mixed in with the extra sauce after you finish the udon. It's like having 2 meals in 1! Buta Udon (4/5): simple, soup-y, hearty bowl of noodle. good for when you want something a little lighter. The pork in this was so flavourful! The place is def smaller than I expected . They had a couple of tables and seating at the bar area. It's definitely a place to grab a quick bite and go. The waiter eventually asked us politely to leave when we're done but there was no one else waiting for a table. read more

Mikaku serves delicious udon located north of the GTA. Every dish we ordered was full of flavour & different from one another. We ordered 3 udons to share which were a dry, soup & saucy udon. We love the spicy cream udon the most. The pork belly in the buta ramen was grilled to perfection with a delicious char. The customer service was friendly and the restaurant is quite small (~9 tables) so expect a short wait during peak hours on the weekend. It was worth the wait and we will be back again! read more
Delicious udon! Aldente and fresh. I loved my experience here. They served green tea and they also make this amazing high quality coffee. Ordered the maze udon, with pork, onions, vinegar, and it was so delicious!! It came with rice and they told me to notify them when I was done with the udon, so the rice could come in hot! The food is yummy. I personally prefer the creamy one. I had the seafood udon and the toppings needed more flavour but the noodles and soup were really good. I didnt find it too spicy. It was just right for me. Only downside is that i feel like they can give a larger portion as it wasnt too filling. Service is nice and the place is nice too. I recommend trying this place. They also have some kind of rice tea which is interesting. read more

A casual cafe with friendly service and delicious udon. Buta udon is soy based with nice charred smokey pork belly pieces. Maze udon has a nice flavor and is such a good mix with rice. Spicy cream udon is like a pasta dish on chewy udon. Enjoyed the meal thoroghly! read more
I have been wanting to try this udon spot for the longest time and it did not disappoint. Came by in the evening on a weekday, it's a smaller, more cozy intimate eating area and wasn't too busy when we came. I ordered the spicy seafood cream udon but customized it to be less spicy, while my boyfriend ordered the curry udon. It was very creamy and portion sizes are decent as well. I really enjoyed the sauce for my udon, and my boyfriend really liked his dish as well. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area and craving udon! read more
Creamy comfort food. Came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner with some friends. The place is on the smaller side but it was a full house that night. Last call is at 8:30PM which I thought was on the earlier side for a restaurant but was okay as we ordered and finished on time before they were closing. Takoyaki 7/10 Not as hot as i'd like my takoyaki to be. It was also not as crispy as I'd like it. Pretty mediocre but still a good app. Chicken karaage 7.5/10 Piping hot fried chicken with a mini side salad and dipping sauce. Great for sharing Chicken curry udon 8/10 Saucey curry on top of a bed of udon with crispy fried chicken. The curry sauce is thick and flavourful and matched well with the udon. The crispy fried chicken was a great texture change from the udon noodles. Spicy creamy udon 8/10 Don't get intimidated by the spicy chili pepper on the menu, this has little to no spice at all. As you can imagine, the sauce is super creamy and packed with pieces of seafood. Came with three slices of baguette bread that was a bit on the dry sided. The baguette was great for dipping into the extra sauce though. Overall, it was very comforting to have some creamy udon. Different from your usual udon soup bowls. read more

Mikaku is tucked away facing Rin sushi in the back of the plaza. There's decent amounts of parking at the back near the restaurant. It's a relatively small restaurant. We got there at 4:30pm right after their break. The menu is diverse and very much indicates a fusion style instead of the traditional Japanese udon place. We ordered the Seafood udon (in soup) and the chicken curry udon as mains and the squid legs as an appy. The squid legs were nicely fried without too much coating and it comes with an Asian style salad. The seafood udon was nicely presented but nothing overly special. The chicken on the curry udon was beautifully fried - just the right balance of crisp and meat and while the udon was wonderfully chewy, I found the cream a little too thick for my taste and it also made me feel a bit bloated. I would imagine there would be long wait times here given the size of the restaurant. The food is different but relatively well done, but it wouldn't be something I would constantly come back for. Worth a try though! read more
Small Japanese restaurant on 360 Hwy 7 in Richmond Hill. Pretty decent with nice Japanese taste. Taco Wasabi: 7/10 Authentic Japanese appetizer. Chopped octopus, wasabi, pickle, carrot, and eat with seaweed. It could be better if they could provide more seaweed to match up with the octopus quantity. It was an okay dish. I would try something else next time. Maze Udon: 9/10 Nice server asked if it was our first visit and whether we've tried this udon before. Reason was that some patrons did not understand how to work this udon out. The bowl came with a pretty big portion of meat sauce and udon. First was to finish off the udon with half of the sauce. Then, server would provide a bowl of rice (free) for the rest of the sauce. I guess the reason to service the rice after finishing the udon is to ensure good temperature of both. Minced pork, scallion, egg yolk, seaweed, sesame, and soya sauce, all mixed well with the carb. I would say it's an interesting experience. Pretty tasty! Buta Udon & Curry Chicken Udon: 7.5/10 Okay udon items with not much surprise. Not bad either. Portions were okay as well. Chicken Karaage: 8.5/10 Crunchy karaage with mayo sauce and salad. I like the crispiness and presentations. Have a look. Overall: 8/10 A pretty decent Japanese udon place. Recommend the Maze Udon and remember to ask for the bowl of rice. I would definitely go back to try something different next time. read more
