I've ordered from Pla Too Thai a few times because I really enjoy their mango sticky rice. This was my first time dining in and the ambiance is so cute and peaceful and the staff is so sweet. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai at a spice level of 3 and it was just perfect. Not only was the food aesthetically pleasing it tasted just as gooooood. And you know I couldn't leave without ordering the mango sticky rice which was a 10/10 like always. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Well just had Pla Too Thai for the first time. Wish I would have went there instead but I feel the food would have basically been the same. I ordered Chicken Larb. Which they call minced chicken. Now I asked for it very spicy. It was not spicy at all. I've been eating Thai food since I was 9 years old. Usually Larb is eaten with cabbage leaves and or lettuce leaves. There was none in mine. It usually has toasted rice powder in it and didn't get even a hint of it in the flavor. I had to add my own fish sauce and crushed Thai chilies. The Tom yum soup was pretty bland. Usually way more fragrant with lemongrass and galangal. Weirdly cucumbers in it. Strange. read more

Tried this place for the first time tonight. The owner of the restaurant was super sweet and attentive. Always making sure we were satisfied with the service and food. Maybe 2nd time eating Thai ever. So I'm not an expert on authentic Thai food. But it was delish! Ordered the mussel and shrimp curry with a low spice level. Super flavorful and good amount of seafood in it. I asked if I could get just mussels next time and she said yes. I also think I can handle more heat. Excited to try again. My friend ordered stir fry. She said it was good. We got the mango crab rangoon for an appetizer and the restaurant is not stingy with the filling in them. And the mango sauce ties well with it. Interior was nice and kept clean. Bathrooms were small but clean as well. They weren't busy. Which is a shame. Hope this review and other reviews give this local place more business. This is my first time having Thai, we had it deliver for a work lunch. First off one of the owners called me and informed me they couldn't find someone to deliver so they canceled it and delivered it themselves! I thought that was very impressive and it just shows they care about their customers. The Pad Thai was so good, I got it mild and I could have went up to the medium. The shrimp was cooked great and it was nice to see the shrimp was deveined (a lot of places don't... gross). The spring rolls had a great crunch and the seasonings were great, a little peppery for my taste but it was still very delicious I would order them again. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to go back and try other dishes. read more

It was empty when I picked up my order, I asked for a side of peanut sauce for my fresh rolls (which were terrible) and the lady working there made a huge fuss. Pla Too Thai is a frequent stop of mine and my family's for dinners after soccer games, volleyball games, or whatever we have going on it's a staple to stop by for dinner together. I've tried a couple of their entrees but I always seem to go back to my favorite Thai dish, Green Curry with no peas. It is consistently delicious and full of flavor. I always end up saving what I am unable to eat for my lunch the next day. The appetizers here are also wonderful as well. We usually get the spring rolls and the calamari. The calamari is cooked well without being chewy. After we finish our meals we tend to indulge in dessert. So far, I've tried the fried banana with ice cream, the homemade green tea ice cream with coconut milk, the mango cake with ice cream, and the mango with sweet rice. Each were incredible in their own way and as much as I adore chocolate it's a delight to branch out sometimes, especially here at Pla Too Thai. read more

Tried this place as an alternative to our typical Thai fix place. Tried the spicy noodles (3 heat) and pineapple red curry (3 heat) for lunch. Both were spicy, hot and savory. The pineapple red curry was by far the best, perfect blend of sweet and spicy. We wanted to try green papaya salad but they were all out of papaya. Service was quick and polite during lunch, keeping the water filled with all the spicy food is a must. While the location is a bit hidden, the interior is clean, up to date and welcoming. We had the Papaya salad first. Delicious. Plenty to share. I had the yellow chicken curry which was spot on for flavor. I'm very picky about my curry so that says a lot. The chicken was tender, all white meat without a speck of fat. I loved that they let me substitute bamboo shoots for the green pepper. You can truly make the meal your own. My husband had the Beef Spicy noodles with the highest heat possible. The meat was tender and, again, void of fat and gristle. He loved it. The service was excellent which is hard to find these days. I am loathe to go any further down than three stars because these people were very nice and very efficient and the portions are huge. However. I am jarred by their interpretations of the dishes they serve. Familiar names, but very very unfamiliar recipes, and the way they do it is not to my taste. It's not that things were prepared badly, just in a way I've never experienced before and that I wasn't looking forward to having. Everything is made to be very sweet, and with a different flavor base than I'm used to. I'm sure it's an acceptable regional variation, but this is, I guess, not a region I'd choose to eat from again. Personally. Been to Pla Too Thai a couple times and will continue to go back regardless of the decor. The outside makes the restaurant look a little run down. When you go in there are piles of boxes and other items to the left. It looks a little like a horder's place (zoom in on my pic of the restaurant). However, the rest of the restaurant is really clean, the food and drinks show no sign of it being dirty and the wait staff is really friendly. Pad tai is one of my favorite meals and Pla Too Thai has never let me down. Also, they have some pretty awesome spring rolls. Our drinks are always refilled in a timely manner and the staff is always awesome. Overall, I would say adopt my mind set of ignoring the decor issues and try it out. You won't be disappointed! The worst thai food i ever had in my life :( and i wish i were exaggerating. I ordered the pad thai and the noodles were over cooked and mushy, the sauce was very watery which isnt normal at all, pad thai sauce is always semi thick and more on the darker side. It lacked flavor and the texture was very off. Very pricey for crappy food in my opinion. My advice, save your money and go to I Love Pad Thai instead. You'll thank me later! read more

Nice open floor plan with lots of light. The decor was pretty random but white tablecloths were a nice touch. Service was fine but not fabulous. The little salad and wonton appetizer was a nice way to start the meal. Fresh veg and great sweet chili sauce. Cute rice tower in the shape of a star. Not over-steamed. The red curry with beef was very good--the beef could have been a little more tender but the sauce was a nice balance of sweet coconut and spicy pepper. I went with some coworkers over lunch and they told the server it was my birthday (which was true!) and at the end of our meal she brought out a complimentary surprise dessert. I'm not sure what it was exactly...some kind of coffee cake with mango sauce on it paired with some vanilla ice cream with toasted coconut on top. An unexpected treat! My friend and I ended up at Pla Too as part of girls night in Omaha. The promise of a free appetizer (using the PinPoint Rewards app) led us to Pla Too. When we pulled up it was empty. No other customers were here. Also, it's a bit divey on the outside and the little guy on the front door looks like he's, well, VERY happy to greet the customers. That's all I say. But, my friend and I both know that often times it's places like this that have the best food and we wanted an adventure. I've never been to a Thai restaurant before. I've had pad thai at Noodles and Company or in a frozen dinner, but never had authentic Thai. When we walked in I was still a little worried. Again, no one was there (to be fair it was about 5:30 on a Saturday so still pretty early). It was also pretty warm and very quiet. So quiet, in fact, because there was no music playing and my friend and I agreed if there were people there it would have been hard to have a conversation and not feel odd. We looked over the menu and made our selections. Not long after the music came on! And the adventure began! We had an excellent meal! The music was perfect (birds chirping, thai music, etc.), other guests starting showing up and our free round of Thai Chicken Lettuce Wrap. Quick tip, mix up the chicken mixture. The tiny wonton squares inside add a nice crunch. There were so many flavors and textures going on, we were really pleased. We also ordered some Tom Kha. My friend raved and raved about this being one of her favorite soups so I went ahead and got some. The beauty of PlaToo is that they very willingly will make anything vegetarian. So, my friend had Tofu Tom Kah and I had chicken. It was good. I think she expected it to be more coconuty and creamy (based on her past experience) but it was still good. It's a tomato based soup with chicken, coconut milk, galanga root, mushrooms, lemongrass, kaffir lime, tomatoes, zucchini, and white and green onion. It does have a bit of a sour flavor, but its well balanced with the tomato. Plus you have all those veggies to munch on. It's like a Thai version of tomato soup! I liked it. For my entree, I ordered the Chiangmai Dinner (grilled chicken (kind of tasted like fruity pebbles) served with honey-chili sauce, papaya salad, and sticky rice) and I HIGHLY recommend it. The presentation is absolutely beautiful but I had no clue how to eat it. Our server explained that you eat it with your hands. You scoop up some sticky rice, dip it into the sauce, add a piece of chicken and a bunch of the papaya salad and enjoy! She brought me a bowl of water to wash my hands and I had at it! I will warn that the rice is hot so proceed with caution but the mix of flavors was just lovely and the experience, so unique. Again, I was very pleased with my selection and would highly recommend it! My friend also couldn't stop raving about her entree, which came in a cute fish bowl and the rice formed into the shape of a star. Again, presentation was beautiful. She had the Pineapple Curry and subbed in tofu for the shrimp. The dish included Thai curry paste, coconut milk, carrots, pineapple, basil, and bell peppers. Served with steamed rice and salad. She was BEYOND excited to find pineapple curry and to be able to sub the tofu. She was on cloud nine and we shared each other's meals and I was also very pleased with her meal as well. The waitress explained the way to eat her meal was to put the curry onto the rice versus putting the rice in the curry. As if the meals weren't stellar enough, the service was fantastic. When you order you can select your level of spiciness and they prepare each dish according to your preferences. That's so unique. They were very willing to educate us, tell us about Thailand, make sure our water glasses were filled and it was just very pleasant. We will return! read more
