The gate agent was able to call them directly from my gate and let them know I'd be walking out. The driver was pulling up as I walked out so I did not have to wait at all. Smooth ride to the hotel. I was able to text to schedule my 3:45am pick up for the next morning. The driver in the morning arrived a few minutes early and again another smooth ride to the airport. The vans were clean and the drivers were great. It was so nice to get such good service in an otherwise kind of stressful situation of being stranded. Would recommend.

If I make an emergency announcement, every single resident hears it - let alone doing it at 9:30 in the morning. We started the tour at Bombers Beverage. If you haven't checked out this bottle shop you should. The selection and customer service is unmatched. The second stop was Waterline Brewing. Unfortunately this brewery is not yet open to the public therefore we just the outside and talked a bit about their upcoming opening. Nest we traveled to the #BAD (Brooklyn arts district) side of town to visit Fly Trap Brewing. This brewery is unique because they only brew for in house so if you want to try one of their awesome brews you must visit the brewery. One conversation with the owners, Mike and Emily, and you will be a regular for life. After, we ventured toward the center of town to check out Wilmington Home Brew Supply. This business is the only place in town that sells home brew equipment. They have everything to accommodate your home brewing project and if they don't they will get it. New to home-brew? They offer free classes and demonstrations. The last stop on the tour was Broom Tail Brewery. This small brewery is located in an industrial park on the north side of town. They specialize in craft beer with un traditional flavor profiles. I have had their lemon grass ginger whit multiple times at Catch and it is amazing. We were fortunate to arrive during a shrimp boil, which was a wonderful end to an afternoon of beer. The best part about the emerging beer/wine market? It's community based. Some brewery owners are even related and easy it's to find local beer on draft at other breweries even in the same neighborhood. Be sure to TIP the driver (before the discount) & the company so they can save more horses. -Get there 15mins before posted return time because there's a seating capacity 20-25 people. -When the horses get back they need a 15min break so you have to wait for that, but be sure to get onboard & pick your seat while waiting out the 15mins after the horses get back and wait on the carriage. I have traveled for work for over 15 years and I might as well stay at a best western or motel 6 if this is these are the conditions I have to pay for Jessyca and Jeane' were great. Both had exceptional personalities, great customer care, attentive, and just a pleasure to speak with. Too bad the hotel rooms dont reflect their "shine". Also, i'd like to bring attention to the Valet person (in the mornings). I do not remember his name, but he was a pleasure as well. Smiling face, warm greetings, remembers your face and offers local suggestions and advice; just a good guy to take care of your vehicle and help enjoy your trip. Lets talk Rooms; 223 to be exact. NObody, should ever stay in this room. For starters, you dont need a key as you can use the "dont disturb" placard on door handle to break in. The door latch works but the door LOCK doesnt. This door has already been broken into, as is apparent by it's appearance. Hotel maintenance is a joke nation wide, but this takes the cake. I've seen better at Holiday Inn Express'. As you open the door, the stale stench of cigarettes greets you, mixed with a vintage neutralizer smell. Ah yes, the luxuries at Hilton. The bathroom door is a "barn door" style (most reduculous addition to ANY hotel) which does not close because of a screw that the hanger comes into contact with. So, privacy is lost, but then again privacy is always lost with these silly doors (ready for this fad to disappear) that never seat close enough to the wall and surely never extend past the opening far enough. Next, I blindly sat some items on the nightstand. As my fingers released and my head turned to look towards the window, my ears were sang a song of everything breakdancing on the floor. I didn't spend anytime figuring out the degree of "slope" on the nightstand, but it doesnt sit at a 90° . In my pictures, the book is flush with the wall. Being me, I thought "lets see if we can fix this or at least remedy it a little bit. Behind me at this point is the corner chase lounge. I nudge the lounge over in an attempt to create some space and...... it falls over . Apparently house keeping or maintenance figured "just propping the 2 broken feet under would be suffice". Not a single screw "or care" were found . Now, this leads our story to the window blinds. As with most rooms they are partially down. Grabbing the chain and giving a gentle yet firm tug, nothing. Maybe I grabbed the wrong chain, so I grab the 2nd chain, pull, and nothing. Glancing up i determine either chain should be causing something to happen. I regrip the chain and pull with angst and finally, it gives. Looking down to reposition my feet i see the A/C units power supply tucked behind the baseboard; another great motel vibe. We'll jump into the next morning for breakfast. As a recovering Cancer patient I was actually "eggcited" for hotel eggs since "eggs" have been the only thing i'd been able to stomach throughout my treatments and process after. Welp, not today. The "top burnt quiche" that was sitting in egg water just didnt do it for me. Neither did the full pan of gray sausage links. Lastly, the tray of potatoes came in for the win. 1 scoop of potatoes and a bowl of oatmeal (that I brought). Hilton is still using "Quaker Oats" which has the highest levels of Glyphosate in their final oat/wheat products which probably also include their cereals. The Juice machine had 3 of 4 nozzles working which, also at this point, feels glorious. I dont recall the fruit situation, I just know I didn't leave with any. After a great time strolling through downtown Wilmington, next time we'll give Embassy Suites a go before switching to Marriots. Shameful when you think about it, how mundane and ran down Hiltons have become.
