After going through the donation drive thru I decided to take a trip inside and look around. They were immediately putting those teapots into a glass case in the store. As the women was putting them out I mentioned they were my mom's who had just passed away and she went on a tirade about how filthy they were and she had to wash them. She made me feel horrible but the funny thing is when I stopped there a week later they were all gone, sold! On another donate day, I had bags of mom's clothes and a few boxes of housewares, hard goods. When the guy outside noticed I was smoking in my car, he refused to take any of it, which was in my trunk. He said it all stunk like smoke and they didn't want it!! How it came directly from my mom's house and picked up smoke odor that quickly is beyond me. I went across the street to Goodwill and they took it all and thanked me. I have vastly changed my opinion of this store and am sorry I have ever donated anything there. I'm sure they made good money on all they things donated from mom, including furniture that they had no problem accepting.

It just so happens that on the day we visited, the store had a small setup of free hot apple cider and little sandwich cookies available for shoppers. This gave us a special glimpse of Minnesota hospitality and set things off on a great foot on a very chilly day! We looked through Christmas decorations and old games and I was thankful to find an excellent prank hallmark ornament for my sister and a nostalgic hallmark ornament for myself--a little mouse atop a spool of thread, sewing popcorn kernels for a Christmas garland. We looked at a variety of scarves and coats and then found a cute, new/barely-used, button-up shirt with little mustaches for my partner. All of this--delicious hot cider, Christmas and childhood nostalgia, easily transported "souvenirs" from our visit to Minnesota, and a crisp new shirt for my partner--all for less than $10 made for a pretty great first-time thrifting experience and a memorable stop on the trip for me!
