This place got my business because they open a half hour earlier than the usual place I go to closer to home. I ordered my usual Hunan Chicken and an egg roll. The man that took my order at the counter was nice enough and thanked me on the way out. The chicken and vegetables were quite warm and spicy as they should be. The veggies were tender and cooked nicely. The chicken was like velvet in my mouth and practically melted! The egg roll was warm and crunchy outside and the inside was flavorful. The only issue I have is that they take online orders from Clover, but Clover won't take the order until 11 am when they open at 10:30. Probably not a big deal overall. This is my daughter's preferred Chinese restaurant in the area. The steamed dumplings are small but super flavorful. Really like that they allow you to customize your dish. With the dinner combo, you can substitute an egg roll for something else like crab Rangoon which are a little doughy but has a good amount of filling. Service is fast. We wanted Chinese fare somewhere close to home with dine-in seating. Most of the options we saw only offered pickup or delivery so we were happy to find this restaurant. We arrived around 6:45 so I was expecting we might have to wait for a table but we were the only people eating in. The place was clean, the seating adequate; however, most of the orders were being picked up. And there were many call-in orders. The staff were courteous & the price point was good. But I found the sweet & sour chicken just "ok". The pork fried rice did not taste any different than brown rice; very bland If I had not had duck sauce & soy sauce, I could not have eaten what I did. It also came with an egg roll. I love egg rolls; however, even though it was crispy & full of good ingredients, the outside tasted like it had been cooked in oil that needed to be changed out. My husband had beef & broccoli. We would rate it average with the same bland pork fried rice. There was no real ambiance; just a nice & clean place to dine in. We will probably not go back again, I am sad to say because it would be nice to have good Chinese fare close to home. Next time we will plan ahead & go to P F Chang's. We tried King Chinese Buffet in the Walmart shopping center in Garner (NC42 & I-40) for takeout. I think food is great! All the people talking about chicken wings... why are you going to a chinese restaurant for chicken wings anyways? MY personal favorites are the curry chicken, vegetable mei fun, moo shu chicken and hot and sour soup. They will always customize the order to your liking and cohere to allergies. Sometimes the breaded chicken (like general tso) is too breaded but it isn't a big deal. You can order white meat to work around that. It IS a bit spendy, but thats often the price to eat out in general these days anyway. I urge everyone that hasn't, to try to eat an actual chinese dish from here. My family and I ate here last Friday night. We had boneless spare rib, steamed veggies, chicken lo mein, and sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice. The food was terrific! It's exactly what you expect Chinese food to be. My only complaint is they don't deliver. There is no indoor seating. It is pick up only. The price for the amount of food you get is great. Atmosphere: The restaurant seemed like the typical Chinese take out spot. There isn't much seating in there, so probably not a good idea to go there in a large group. Customer Service: This where they could use some help. All of the employees seemed either mad or not happy to see you. However, they were not rude...just not very happy. Open during Covid-19. 1st time was decent enough for me to return. The 2nd time my chicken wings were over cooked/burnt in both orders. The rice is like white rice with soy sauce put in it. A little soggy looking and tasting. Edible, yes, especially if it's your only choice. The sweet and sour pork my husband loved. The ribs with bones were overcooked dry and tough. When it comes to Chinese, it's dependent upon what you are accustomed to. So I ordered my food thru the clover app amd received my food all wrong. So when I get there she has my ticket on the counter and clearly I'm seeing my 2 extra items on the ticket and she still will not apologize by the way, and she tells my she can't refund my money that she doesn't know how lol, this is the owner by the way. Bottom line please don't give this company your money, they don't deserve it. Easily the best chinese take out in the Clayton area! Other reviews say they aren't clean, but they have an open kitchen and I watched them prepare several meals expertly in a clean looking environment. My bean curd homestyle had great flavor. I will say the container wasn't quite full and the first time I ordered from them they forgot my rice. I can only speak for the Sesame Chicken but it was the best I've had in Clayton by far. The products tasted very fresh and not over cooked. Often times places overlook their broccoli - this was just absolutely fresh. I will be back for sure. And the people complaining about delivery. Keep in mind this is not a metropolitan area. Tried the beef Hunan dinner special with egg roll & fried rice, house special Chow Mai Fun, and fried wontons for take out Last night (Sunday). The fried wonton was cooked perfectly as I munched on them driving home. They were really good. The Beef Hunan as stated on menu was spicy with crisp fresh vegetables. The fried rice lacked the northern condiments of egg & pork, but was fresh and good. The Chow Mai Fun was packed with shrimp, chicken & pork. However the noodle dish was bland, but the left over sauce from the beef Hunan saved the day. I was told they were very good & it exceeded my expectations. 23 clams with tip for the food, but it was worth it! Will update upon second try to elevate them to the 5 star category. read more
