Bartender is pretty rude. Wouldn't let us buy more than one drink per person (i.e. we couldn't buy a round). Odd...

The food is very good, but at this time, we can no longer return. We know, we know. You're trying to be "a dive" bar and we get that the music needs to be LOUD. Still being "in your face" about turning the volume louder; telling us we can't order food to go even though we've been allowed to take food to go before; telling us we couldn't slide the karaoke room door closed not to be barraged with TWO different blaring beats is out of hand. Time to tell the bartender to, at least, pretend to be nice to customers. read more

First off, the slushy drinks are STRONG. We showed up at six pm on a Friday and there were only two open tables. Not many GF items on the menu, but our server was helpful and the kitchen modified the ma pro tofu to make if GF. That was a nice touch. The BBQ pork is GF as is and is delicious. But it came with microscopic portions of sesame seeds, hot mustard and vinegar. More, please! Friendly, attentive service and no sign of the snootiness described in other reviews. Nailed it! I loved everything about my evening, You know its a good place when you can't wait to go back. Awesome tunes, chill ambience. I love the cocktails as much as the food. Way too much to eat in one sitting, but it was just as good eating the other half when we got home at 1am. We where a bit nervous about the wait, but we hung out by the bar, met some new people (We wished we brought a few dollars for the games) our new friends ended up giving us their number which helped us jump 10 places in the line! I thought it was impossible to mess up Chinese food, but New Luck Toy proved me wrong. Fatty and chewy over cooked meat, greasy dishes drenched in sauces that tasted like salty plastic. The service was poor. No attention from the wait staff. Gross dinner. Definitely won't be back. read more

If you like eating Chinese at a rock concert, and shouting across the table to be heard. And if you like staff snarking you if you ask for a quieter spot to eat -- "Hey, this is the atmosphere we created." And if like hearing the 6'1" staffer shout, "No, you can't take this food out. The food is overpriced, and frankly not very good. It is served on paper plates. Had three things, Honey Walnut Shrimp 11 bucks average at best. BBQ pork that was gristle and fat $9, and green beans with sauce on them $9. You are supposed to eat these with your fingers I guess, hence the napkin dispenser on the table. Two $8 drinks that were maybe 3oz at best with almost no booze. Switched to diet coke... also overpriced. So with tip $60 out the door. Just a TERRIBLE value. There are so many places in West Seattle and the area where for $60 you'd get better atmosphere, more comfortable seating, better food and good drinks...Oh and the crowd of smokers 10 feet from the door is not very attractive. One of my favorite newish places in the city (and I get around all over). I have now been there twice (won't write a review anywhere until I have done so....can't judge a book by it's cover). Both times were excellent. Once was on a weekend and once during the week. Both times, the atmosphere was excellent. Lots of people. Good music always. I particularly love the interior design with the 100s of Maneki Nekos that wave to the entering customers. I also love the karaoke rockbox style room, although one of the microphones needed some tending to. On to the excellent food. Both times we have ordered at least a handful of dishes. The ones that have stood out were the honey walnut prawns (the right amount of flavorful sauce for scraping it up at end of the meal) and the Chinese Spaghetti Bowl had outstanding flavor. The order system is fun and convenient (menus to fill out tableside for quick service). The drinks are also outstanding with Rachel Ginger Beer tap cocktails and blended drinks which are always exceptional...with a full bar. read more

Two of four dishes were really good; two just okay (broccoli so stringy not much was edible). Deafeningly loud music (why?). No help with seating so you have to stake out a spot and guard it, then you get hovered over in turn. Filled out order sheet but one drink didn't come. Server never came back. Great expectations heading in. Had to squeeze past a bunch of stacked chairs at the front door; it was like we were coming in the service entry. Go past the SkeeBall machine and into a very cool bar. Took a number for dinner--only to be scolded by the barmaid because we didn't follow directions for writing down our name on the board. This theme of "Do It Yourself" continued throughout dinner as you write down your order on a sheet of paper (think playing Keno in a casino) and the portions are brought out on to-go platters. The crowning event is for the waitress to place your bill on your table and give you lids for your now soggy containers. (No, the lids do not fit or seal.) The drinks--especially off the bar menu--are highly priced and low alcohol. Not sure why the owner thought that met the requirements of a Chinese restaurants which, traditionally, have had eye-popping pours. I stayed away from the sweet drinks and had a vodka martini which I should have sent back because the bartender apparently thought "martini" meant equal portions of vodka and dry vermouth--not pleasant. Had a watered down Mai Tai to follow and wished I hadn't. The food wasn't bad except for the vaunted General Tso's which was so salty I spent most the night waking up and drinking water. Very average food. I like Safeway General Tso chicken better than theirs if that tells you anything. Great cocktails, would recommend you come here just to drink. The music is way too loud. Table service is good but the bartender was rude. Their method of seating you is extra dumb. It's DMV style pull-a-number with a LED sign that shows the number method of seating you is very dumb. Just get a hostess. We got skipped because they don't call your number, you just have to hope they find you to ask you if you have that number. If they don't find you they skip you. We were watching for our number and the lady standing next to us even said they skipped it. read more

Strangest Chinese restaurant I've seen. Dining room is beautiful but small. The bar area in the back is fun - find your own table and fill out an order sheet at your table... the food arrives in cardboard take-out bowls. We had the General chicken, BBQ pork and almond shrimp, all of which were delicious and just enough but not the massive quantity you're used to at Chinese restaurants. The real surprise is that not on the small menu (nor available to order off the menu - we tried) are the standards like sweet and sour anything, any kind of won tons or foo young, no fried rice, etc. It's a good place to check out, but not where you want to go if your heart's set on many of the standard Chinese dishes. read more

So glad that this place opened!! The food is great, and I tried almost everything on the menu! My faves are the Jerk chicken fried rice, the salt and pepper shrimp (delicious), and the Ma Pao Tofu is spicy but very good!! The Bar in the back is oriented so that if you are with a big group you can all hang and chat (much better than LOOONG rectangular bars where you have to lean over others to talk). The summer months at this place is perfect when you can open the back doors and take over the patio space. I would definitely come back, or maybe order to go. Finally some good Asian food! read more

Finally checked this place out the other day. We stopped in on a Saturday around 6pm - it wasn't too busy yet, and we snagged a booth very easily. The food was great - especially the shrimp and pork fat dumplings, and the pineapple fried rice. The drinks were tasty, although the frozen drinks were expensive and you don't get much (though they're served in fabulous tiki glasses). Service was very attentive. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be going back to try other items on the menu. read more

I don't normally yelp when I have complaints. I typically contact management and give them the opportunity to respond to my issues. But in this case I encountered the rudest late night bartender and he directly told me to yelp about my experience and claimed to be the owner. So I will take him up on that. A friend and I went in for a late night snack and to try their Karaoke room. The restaurant hours said that they were open until 2 AM. We arrived at around 12:30-1 am. We ordered 3 food items, sparking water for me and a Martini for my friend. We had trouble getting the karaoke machine to work. The server was a young woman. Very impatient and no matter how nice we were she was rude. At about 1:30 am she began to become very anxious for us to leave. Even though they were open until 2 we asked for our bill, paid and tipped her well. I made the mistake of telling the bartender how we felt about her. He immediately began yelling and came around the bar in my face, swinging a dirty dish towel at me and telling me I was drunk and to get out. He was violent and scary and totally Power tripping--- The more apologetic I was the meaner he got. He said he owned the bar and that I could leave and yelp about it. The food and drinks are mediocre. I will never step foot in that stinky bar again and I will also tell everyone I know about this verbal assault. read more

Have been to this spot a few times now, love it. Very cool vibe, loud, dark, the place just screams, "Come on in, get some drinks, grab some grub, be cool and you'll have a great time". I REALLY wanted to love this place. I live a few blocks away and was SO excited when I heard it was opening. But after last night, so disappointed! AWFUL SERVICE!! However, the food we thought was great except on a Wednesday at 9:30 they were out of 4 menu items. So the 2 stars a gave was for the food, mainly the shrimp dishes we had. But the service was soooo bad, I used to work in the restaurant industry so I cut servers, especially of a new restaurant, a lot of slack but our waitress and bartender were rude all the way around! We sat for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, then got cut off when trying to verbally order and was given the paper menu to order from (without telling us what they were out of) so we had to reorder twice, then never came back so I had to go up to the bar to: order food and drinks, again after we had to reorder, get more napkins, get our check, and pay our check. I am all for dive bars with bar service only but I don't think that's how this place was meant to be run? And why was everyone so damn short and rude with me? I may give it another try bc it's so close to my place but, so so bad for a first impression read more
